Great beach, Great property, Fantastic owners
Overall, I was really pleased with this rental and had no worries during my stay. We arrived late due to our flight and it took forever to get through customs because our bags didn't make the connection, but Peter and his wife waited patiently for us. He drove us to the rental, let us a get a good night's rest and came back the next morning to shuttle us back to the airport and pick-up our rental car. He even gave us a little tour of the surrounding areas and recommended restaurants, etc. You really do need a rental car if you want to go to downtown, or paradise island.
The Beach!!!: Oh I really loved the beach, literally just walk through the back yard, step up over a small hill and voila, you're on the beach. Peter has 4 beach chairs, a couple snorkeling masks for kids, and a couple boogie boards. The sand is great. There are some rock formations or coral just off the shore so it can be a little iffy at high tide, but during the day, you can see all the formations and they break the waves so you can just relax in the water without getting bounced around. There is a long stretch of beach shared by just a few people, and a restaurant (Nirvana) a couple hundred feet down the beach to the East. Very relaxing, affordable, good food, but just a reminder, it's island life, so they take their time. But we had a little corona commercial on the beach, lounging in their padded chairs and sipping on a drink.
Dining: Nirvana by day. At night, I recommend sunset, we went to Compass Pointe, just a quick drive. They have good food and a great view of the sunset. Sandyport has a couple: Twisted Lime.
Downtown: Allow an hour to drive to Paradise Island/Atlantis. I'm so glad we didn't stay there. It is mostly crowded. Not enough restaurants for all the people during high season and expensive. And no real beach; they have a lagoon, but so crowded.
Rental Layout: It is in a small, gated community. Maybe 6-8 units. The unit is situated on the 2nd & 3rd levels of the community property. 2 upstairs bedrooms, both with in suite bathrooms. The master bedroom overlooks the backyard, beach and ocean, with a small patio. Caveat: This is obviously not for someone who has a disability due to the access via stairs. The main level has a half bath, kitchen, and large open layout for the living and dining room. There is a larger patio off the main living room, overlooking the ocean.
Amenities: AC worked well. Kitchen, Stove, Large Fridge. Wifi worked well throughout the home
