Matthew Taylor purchased this house in 1999
The apartment has everything you need in its spacious floorpan, PLUS a gorgeous garden area and big front porch. and the Aikens are warm, and welcoming hosts.
I would recommend this property for an active couple or family who want a comfortable retreat after a day and/or night of exploring Manhattan and Brooklyn. It has a lovely kitchen, dining area, and big living room for relaxing.
A very nice appartement, nearby the subway. By that easy to travel at any time to the centre. Everything was clean, well-maintained, nice to use as a temporary home for a week. Matthew was very helpfull for us. It really was what we were looking for: a place to be after a long day in the centre of NY.
The "Mansion" is a spacious, well outfitted, 'penthouse' apartment. The teenage girls loved the kingsize round bed. Being one block from the J line subway made it very convenient to Manhattan. The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our time in Brooklyn and NYC, and the accommodations were a nice part of that.
My family of 7 and I stayed on the top floor of the "Brooklyn Mansion". It was absolutely perfect for our needs. When we arrived we were thrilled with how incredibly clean and modern everything was. I sent a little text to Matthew shortly after we arrived to see if we could use a blow up mattress. He brought it to us in less than five minutes. He was such a friendly, wonderful young man and offered good tips on where to catch the subway, places to eat in the area, etc.
The master bed was super comfortable. Just before leaving for vacation I remember saying to my husband, "I'm going to miss our bed, we probably won't sleep well until we return home." Boy was I wrong! The bed we had at the Brooklyn Mansion was incredibly comfortable! I was so grateful for that because we went ALL OVER the city during our trip and would return at the end of the day exhausted. It was so nice to have a comfortable, clean bed to sleep in at the end of the night. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need: plenty of dishes and silverware, coffee maker, stove-top, microwave, full size refrigerator, a table that fit all of us, a bar top with 4 stools and a second table in a little cubby that the kids often sat down at to play games. The living room was comfortable and spacious. I had two kids sleep on the pull out sofa in the living room, which was extremely comfortable, my little guy slept on the blow up mattress on the other side of the living room - plenty of room for all. My other two kids slept on the round bed in the "yellow & blue room" as I called it, and they loved it. We had plenty of room - everywhere. No one was cramped and we weren't tripping all over each other or each other's things. It felt more like a real home than a temporary spot....which we so appreciated. I highly recommend the Brooklyn Mansion and would stay again if we ever find ourselves back in the area.
The house is in a very convenient location, it is within 5 minutes walk to the subway. Matthew is extremely helpful and accommodative. The house is very comfortable for us (family of 6). The only thing is, you can hear the traffic from the house, it may not be a good fit for some light sleepers. It did not bother us much. However, for the price and the location, the value is really great!
We arrived in NY in the winter time and it was colder than we imagined. overall, the house had more than enough space to fit everyone and warm. Our family age ranged from 18th month old infant to seniors and everyone stayed comfortable. The best thing about this is that the transportation to Manhattan was convenient. I would recommend this house for any family trip!
