I grew up in the Chagrin Valley of Ohio and graduated from local university, John Carroll. After traveling to many different cities during my career I settled back here in Ohio. I love the area, the seasons, and the country living yet city convenience.
Donna Mintz purchased this chateau / country house in 1999
This property is 'a little piece of heaven' as visitors always say. The home is large and cozy and every window has a spectacular view. As an avid animal and nature lover I am always amazed by the beauty that surrounds this home.
Eaglewood Manor and Garden Farm has all the features of a nature preserve yet is nestled in a private cozy setting. Through a grant from the Ohio State University, the far meadow is transforming into a unique and organically sustainable garden. A visit to Eaglewood Garden Farm promises to leave you with a wealth of information and awareness about this farming method.
Thank you for your lovely note. I really appreciate your kind comments, especially about the kids.
Well, I'm writing this from Atlanta where we've been for only a couple of hours since returning from our long swing through the Midwest and Northeast. While we're no longer at the farm, we are still revering in the memories of our time there. In fact, the kids had such a good time that they say it was the highlight of their week and half on the road. And they are a demanding audience, let me tell you. Valarie and I loved the place as much or more. You and Gary are truly the host and hostess with the mostest (sorry for the fractured language.) Needless to say, if opportunity presents itself again, we will return.
Looking forward to that time ...
Beautiful Home. Stayed for a long weekend with my brothers, and had a perfect time. Donna and Gary are great host's. Had a blueberry crumb cake on the counter when we arrived, and Donna was nice enough to offer us some of her farm fresh eggs which were wonderful.
There is a nice pond out past the deck, and the views towards the back of the property are wonderful. The house has everything you need, and the beds were very comfy. We have already made plans to return in the spring with the rest of our families.
During our week long trip to Cleveland, there was no better place to stay than Eaglewood Manor! We were welcomed the very moment we arrived and felt welcomed throughout the entire week. The home is pristine - providing every possible accommodation and exceptionally clean! Donna and Gary are so friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to explore and roam the property. Thank you to them, and to the other inhabitants of the Manor -- Magnum, Tilly, Isabella, Molsen, Boris, and those gorgeous 3 ducks! We will definitely return! You truly made us all feel at home!
Eaglewood Manor is a breath of fresh air. The spacious home and beautiful grounds immediately welcome you to a place removed from the routine of everyday living. The home is sparkling clean with beautiful decor, fresh linens, and a wonderful assortment of specialty soaps and shampoos. Fresh coffee, juice, and coffee cake are provided by the hostess and we enjoyed these while sitting under the shaded pergola watching the ducks and turtles in the pond. There is so much to do in the quaint town of Chagrin Falls. We explored the falls, had ice-cream multiple times at The Popcorn Shop and Jeni's Splendid Ice-Creams, and enjoyed some amazing tavern food and beverages at The Burntwood Tavern and Flip Side. The local shopping for food is geared towards healthy eating with several farmers' markets and a family owned grocery store less than a mile from the home. The hostess also delivered farm fresh eggs whenever we needed them and walked us through the emerging permaculture garden farm they are developing. We learned a lot about deep organic farming and would love to come back to see how it grows! We left with some great memories and the wonderful feeling of being refreshed and renewed. Ahhhh…truly a vacation.
Everything met or exceeded our expectations. The hosts were available if needed, the home was well maintained, the surrounding property was interesting, and the accommodations were excellent.
Our family was in the Cleveland area for a wedding and we stayed at Eaglewood Manor since it was close to family and wedding activities. The property was beautiful and comfortable. Donna was a great host and my teenage children were very taken with her backyard farm. The location is extremely convenient to Chagrin Falls, Akron and Cleveland. Also, the home is in a great location for evening strolls. Thank you Donna! We plan to stay with you again on our next visit to Cleveland.
My family and I spent the fourth of July weekend at Eaglewood Manor and Garden Farm and absolutely enjoyed every minute! The back patio was a respite for all of us to gather and enjoy each others' company, as well as roomy enough to allow solitude when someone wanted to sit and read. We were free from the distractions of jobs and home life; having this time reminded us how unique and wonderful it is to be with each other! We were just a hop, skip and a jump from the company of some really cool animals: ducks, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs. Each of the animals were so much fun! Our favorite was feeding the cutie pigs named Magnum and Tillie. My family also enjoyed the pond were we fished. It was great to see my grandfather casting away and reeling in some great bass and crappy. Donna and Gary were very helpful with anything we needed. They gave us directions to local fireworks and pointed us in the right direction whenever we wanted to explore the area. They checked in on us to make sure everything was going ok and walked us around the beauty of the gardens. This permafarm is something special and I can't wait to see how it continues to grow! If you are a flower/garden/nursery lover, this is an awesome place to find plants! We went to 4 different nurseries and found plants for our own gardens that we have never found anywhere else. The town of Chagrin Falls is very quaint and has a lot of little shops that were neat to discover. However, our favorite part was just being at the house, enjoying each others' company and basking in the beauty of the nature that was around us at the farm. It truly became a home away from home for my family for the weekend and we cannot thank Donna and Gary enough for the lovely time we had there!
Chagrin Falls is located in one of the most picturesque areas of Cleveland and its surrounding suburbs. It is about 40 minutes from downtown Cleveland. The town, named for the scenic falls in the center of town, is known for its historic architecture, varied restaurants, interesting shopping and art galleries, and its vibrant arts community.
