Dear Bea, Mike and I love your cabin! We will be back! It has been a quiet, calm and relaxing weekend. There is so much to do and see here. We only wish we had more time. See you Soon!
Thank you Bea and Rick for your kindness and hospitality. To start off the weekend, I contacted Bea at the last minute to see if Friday night was available, but that we would not be in Charlottesville until around 7pm. Not a problem, she was kind enough to get a fire started in the fireplace and cheerfully met us at the door to welcome us into the cabin. Eggs, bagels, milk, and cream cheese were stocked in the fridge for breakfast in the morning just in case we had not had time to stop for groceries. The cabin is charming, warm, cozy - everything you would expect and more! We will be back in September, already looking forward to the visit!
Here is all you really need to know about this place (but I will write more!!). I had mentioned to Bea off hand that we were coming down as one of the days of a 4 day stay was my wife's birthday. When we arrived there were balloons and a card!!!!! Bea is so wonderful to work with and hospitable. Very patient with my questions/concerns. She met us and took us through the ropes even though slightly later than I had thought we would arrive. She was readily available if we needed anything but we didn't so we had such a time of solitude. The place itself is a GEM! Tremendous construction, charming decor and so comfortable. There is no wireless and only some basic cable but, we put on some Neil Diamond from the CD collection, sat by the fire and played board games. If only we would do this more often...what fun!! EXACTLY what you want in a get away. I paid the $30 for firewood, had 3 roaring fires each night and still had wood left over. The kitchen has everything you need and although we only did breakfast each morning there would have been perfect for any other bigger meal. We were a bit concerned at first as we are used to queen bed but had MORE than enough room and there are quilts everywhere which keep you very warm. The cabin actually has new AC/HEAT which worked great and we kept it on cooler side so the fire kept us comfortable. It is a bit further from town but in a great quiet location which is what we wanted. We didn't have any use for the loft but it is terrific. We absolutely loved it and want to make a return already in Fall. You cannot go wrong booking this property!!!! Thank you so much Bea!!!!
Had a very nice weekend at Deer Ridge a few weeks ago. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we were able to spend a quiet and relaxing time here. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming when we first arrived and showed us around the place. The cabin itself had very nice accommodations and was furnished with nostalgic decor. Would definitely revisit this hidden gem!
Bea, thank you for sharing your little piece of Heaven with us this past weekend. My wife and I absolutely hated leaving and returning back to our hectic life. We enjoyed my birthday and our wedding anniversary all in one weekend - a weekend we will never forget. We have posted pics on social media and are getting lots of requests for details about the cabin. The location is great - close enough to things to see and do and yet secluded enough to feel like we were all alone. The ONLY thing that would have made the weekend perfect would have been a heavy dusting of snow. Maybe next time - and there will be a next time. Thanks again for making our weekend away one that we will never forget.
I stayed at Deer Ridge this past weekend for a 'Girls Getaway' and we all agreed the pictures just don't do it justice. It was a wonderful experience and we all want to go back! Bea is a great hostess, the decor brought me right back to my New England roots, and the deer came to greet us in the morning. Don't hesitate to book this one!
My husband and I stayed at Deer Ridge for a week. We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary whilst dropping off our daughter at a camp in Lynchburg for the week. We LOVED the décor, ambience, and beauty of this cabin. It is a dream, and very private. Bea keeps it beautifully decorated, and she is a wonderful hostess!
This cabin is just a minutes from Monroe's Ash Lawn, and Monticello, and Michie Tavern. It would be perfect for a either a couple or family stay for four: The upstairs loft is so wonderfully appointed for youth.
We enjoyed spending hours on the gliders drinking coffee and talking. I loved that there is mint growing by the front stoop. At night, we heard a whip-por-will and saw a wren we had never seen before! There were even necessities one might forget in the kitchen and bath, and Bea so kindly welcomed us w/ a basket of eggs and bagels with cream cheese for the next morning!
I pray and hope that this cabin is available for our next stay because we definitely will be promoting this cabin to our friends and family, and definitely will stay here again someday we hope. I would love to live at this cabin in this location! We send prayers and blessings for Bea and her family from Ohio! THANK YOU!
