Best described as your very own State Park. The hills, live creek, forest and lake make Creekside a great spot. Add two large decks 14'x24' and 14'x12' with lighted walkways and it's a perfect place to unwind both day and night. Walk the trails, sit on the many benches and cross the bridges to the dam and small waterfall.

Take the short ride to the community boat launch, park and playground to enjoy swimming or boating in Texas' best kept secret. The constant level spring fed lake is always cool and refreshing. The wildlife and birding are a favorite with all our guest.

Return home to hang on the hammock or enjoy a game of horseshoes. When your ready to wrap it up for the day enjoy watching an evening of movies on Netflix instant streaming or the blu ray dvd player. The home is tastefully decorated and is modern and comfortable.

The Setting: Creekside sets on nearly 10 acres of land. The land is a very interesting piece with many interesting features. There are areas where springs run from the hillside and have washed away soil exposing tree roots. You will enjoy sitting on a bench looking at thousands of ferns, in the area our Niece aptly named 'Fern Gully'. See the conjoined trees, cactus, Holly Grove, hills, huge trees and beautiful dogwoods.

The bridge crosses the creek, set a while and enjoy watching the minnows dart around nibbling on whatever food washes their way. Benches dot the property and offer a variety of settings for you to enjoy.

I have yet to see bugs that became a problem.

The Inside: When you walk up to the front porch the first thing you notice are the hanging plants and the cafe table and chairs. Open the front door and you will be amazed at the flow of the home. This home, as are all of our homes, were built by us and it shows. The tile and laminate floor, Granite counters, tiled tub/showers and small touches lead to a comfortable stay.

The Living Room, Breakfast room and kitchen are all open and connected allowing your group to communicate and enjoy each other regardless of which room they are in. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable, guest seem to compliment on the comfort of the beds.

The Decks & Trails: Yes I like building decks! The rear deck is a 14'x24' deck about 3-4' off the ground. Aside from your standard outside light it also has subdued rail lighting that offers a nice light that doesn't blind you.

When you walk off the main deck you will see a lighted pathway that takes you approx. 50 yards to a 12'x14' deck at the side of a hill. This deck overlooks a fern grove that is just beautiful. This deck (as does the upper) has an electrical outlet as well as rail lighting.

Adjacent to the deck is a hammock. Near the upper deck is the horseshoes with to areas to place beverages while throwing the shoes.

We are constantly working on improving the property and adding trails. The underbrush has been cleared and the trees trimmed to provide a shade canopy that is absolutely stunning. We have some trails and will be adding more when the weather allows us to burn again....and cools a little.

As is the case with all our properties we expect great and positive reviews.

We were looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway and we found it at Creekside! We loved looking out the window and only seeing trees and birds! We enjoyed meals on the deck and reading on the front porch! The house is comfortably furnished with attractive decor. Having a TV in each bedroom and the living room is a plus, as well as NetFlix! We will definitely return!

This property was beautiful!! The directions supplied on the webpage were spot on, and the area is so peaceful you feel like you are miles away from anyone. I would definitely recommend you going to visit and spending a few days. Great family spot. We will absolutely be back.

My family of 4 stayed in this home when we were visiting the nearby Polar Express in Palestine. We were very impressed with how well-maintained the home was. The owners seemed to think of everything, so we immediately settled in and felt at home. There was plenty of room for our family, as both bedrooms had large beds and the living room even had a pull out sofa. Our young boys LOVED roaming around the huge property and exploring the woods and creeks. The wooded property is beautiful and soooo peaceful. We especially loved the little extras, such as the fire pit with firewood in the back of the home, the lighting around the decks, and the little bridges and benches around the backyard. We hope we'll have the opportunity to come back for an extended stay when we can make use of the nearby park to do some fishing!

Restful Retreat

My stay at Creekside was perfect. It was easy to find and the owners, Mark and Brenda, were extremely attentive (while maintaining privacy), professional, and delightful to work with. The house was well stocked, extremely clean, tastefully decorated, and beautifully landscaped. I enjoyed all of the thoughtfully placed benches, bridges, walkways, lighting, and decks that afforded numerous areas to explore or relax. Indeed, it is obvious that a lot of thought went into both the design and decoration of the house and the outside areas. There is nothing that I can think of that I would have added or taken away. The deer family that walked or bounded through the yard a couple of times were an unexpected bonus! Lots of activities and shopping were nearby, too, should I have ventured out. I would definately stay at Creekside again and plan to do so in the near future.

Creekside Peace

My family really enjoyed the surroundings at this cabin. We felt as if we had the forest and the creek to ourselves. The property is large and well cared for. We will definitely be back! We appreciated the laundry and deck furniture. Also the horseshoe course was well-used by us all weekend!
