Summer family vacation weeks were full and fun for our guests, with plenty of crab and beach time. Grab your buddies and book some fishing time. Retreat from work!

Hope to see you soon to welcome you to this unique and delightful beach property in the great Northwest!

We love to be on the beach with our kids, friends, and grandchildren! We sail, too, and have anchored our boat in the bay out front.

Summer crabbing has been abundant most summers. THE best Dungeness Crab!!! Such feasts! And eating freshly caught salmon is superb. My husband, Steve, and I have raised our family in this part of the Northwest, exploring and going on adventures by land and boat. We enjoy sharing the beauty of this property with others; we love our times here by ourselves, too...the quiet, the water, the birds, the rhythms of the wind and water. Come see!

Lynne Nielsen purchased this house in 2006

We bought our place in 2006 because of its location, right at the entrance to beautiful Hood Canal, with beaches to walk for miles, and kayaking and boating right from the saltwater beach, and a 270ft private pier. There are several buildings on the property---Heron House is the larger of two rental dwellings (the Kingfisher is smaller yet has access to the same beaches and boats)---and the view to the west with the snow-capped mountains, the birds soaring, the sunsets...well, these things are good food-for-the-soul for us. We do not take any of this beauty for granted, for sure. You'll see for yourself when you come for a stay.

Our family has 'eyes for agates!' Grandpa taught us all how to see them among the other rocks, especially when the sun is at a slant, and the agates just glow as you scan the beach at your feet. And we have sand dollars galore! The 270 ft private pier affords us many hours of fun, fishing and crabbing (in season) and watching the jelly fish travel on their way. Having the pier, and being on the beach, are unique features that we enjoy out here. The neighbors are friendly and respectful. Oh, and sometimes at night you can hear the mama seals with their pups out on our float in the spring. Amazing!

And if you want city-life, there are towns nearby for touring and shopping and eating and movies.

Come on out and see for yourself!

We'll have the house sparkling clean and ready for you! :)

When we walked in and saw the wall to wall picture window views of the water and mountains we felt like we were in paradise. The downstairs is spacious and comfortable. The upstairs has a cozy chalet feel. There was more than enough room for the six of us. Everything is beautifully decorated and well thought out with lots of personal touches. The owner has stocked the place with every possible item you could need.
We were able to take advantage of the boats and the beach alot in this calm water section of the Puget Sound area. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: We are pleased that your stay was so enjoyable! It was fun meeting you all. The weather continues to be perfect as the salmon season gets underway in our parts, and we are catching delicious Dungeness crab in abundance. The beach continues to be entertaining, too, and I am glad you were able to take advantage of the beauty offered here.

I do hope others reading this will come on out and experience the pleasure, peace, and fun of this special place! People seem to like being together here at Twin Spits. So much to do and yet, so relaxing.
Come celebrate life!

We enjoyed our stay at Twin Spits Heron House very much. The owners have made the place very comfortable and provisioned it well. They were helpful when we needed guidance with the television, and they were open to any suggestions we had. We would love to stay there again. We gathered family from all over the US in three houses in Hansville. We made some wonderful memories, and we ate well including the king salmon and dungeness crabs that we caught. The location with a dependable breeze, and lovely views of the Olympic Mountains was wonderful. We enjoyed the great fire pit, too. Thank you for sharing a comfortable, clean home.

Heron House and Kingfisher provided the perfect venues for our large family reunion on Hood Canal. We also rented another home about .4 mile from Heron House. Heron House was our favorite with its well supplied ammenities and equipment and gorgeous views and breezes. We enjoyed the firepit and kayaks, and we caught crabs and king salmon in Hood Canal. The houses are well-equipped and clean, and comfortable. We cooked half of the meals there. Enjoying cousins from around the US was the best part, and these homes helped make that possible. Thank you for sharing your homes with us. Everything was wonderful.
Owner's Response: Thank you, Kay and Family! We enjoyed meeting you and it was truly a pleasure providing a comfortable space for your great family reunion. I love that you mentioned the breezes, as the weather was quite warm here. We are glad that all your planning paid off so well for your relatives!
We will welcome you back to Heron House, guest house, and our wonderful Twin Spits Beach next year!

Spectacular setting with it's own private dock, we walked for miles along the beach! The home was beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. Homeowners have made every effort to create a perfect beach experience. We were lucky enough to arrive during crab season and some wonderful people willing to share their bounty of fresh puget sound crab.
We'll be back.

Owner's Response: It was fun to share some Dungenness crab with you! We are glad you enjoyed it.
It is a delight for us to have people come out here who love the beaches as we do, not to mention those amazing sunsets. We never tire of the views--always changing and always beautiful. So glad you were comfortable, too! We are ready to welcome you back!

Our stay at Heron House exceeded our expectation! The house is beautifully appointed and the kitchen is well stocked with the cooking utensils and pantry essentials to make preparing gourmet meals a breeze. The open floor plan and copious amenities offered comfort and breathtaking views. We stayed a total of eight days, two of which we never even left the property it offered so many opportunities for fun. We spent hours kayaking, crabbing and playing on the fantastic pier from which we watched the abundant wildlife (porpoise, seals, several bald eagles and Kingfishers). Our 7 year old loved exploring the beach, discovering the giant seastars and throwing rocks in the water. On the other days, we explored the many surrounding port towns (Port Townsend was our favorite), took ferries to other islands, visited Hurricane Ridge (one of the highlights of the trip) and had a fantastic day trip into Seattle. At the end of each day, we made sure we were back at the house to bask in the beautiful sunsets either from the pier, the balcony/deck, or one of the many cozy places inside. It was well worth the small additional fee to have use of the boats. The equipment is impeccably maintained and I was fairly amazed by all the options. There were four Kayaks (the “double” made it very easy and safe to bring a child), an array of lifejackets covering all sizes, as well as the small boat that helped in the crabbing adventure. The crab pots and cooking ring were all there and there was not a thing we thought during the week of that didn’t already exist at the house. The owners are a delightful couple who made every effort to make our stay amazing. We will remember this as one of our best family vacations!

We have such an amazing beach to walk for miles, to find shells and agates, take photographs as you watch the entertaining antics of birds and seals and waves making extraordinary patterns and sounds. Our house is comfortable, well-appointed for your relaxation! Plan for some Family Time or a time-for-two. Or a Girlfriends' Getaway! Or invite some fishin' buddies to hang out with you...and conveniently moor your boat on the float at the end of our private pier. This area has many other points of interest, too.

From here you can explore Nordic-style Poulsbo with restaurants, antiquing, shopping, galleries and museums. And the Olympic Peninsula offers sights for day trips, like the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, the Lavender Festival in Sequim, taking a day trip to the ocean, or hiking our local Hansville Trail System and more. Museums, golfing, nearby casinos, and the quaint Port Gamble General Store serves particularly great breakfasts (25-min.drive). Point No Point Lighthouse tour. Kingston Farmers' Market on Saturdays. Or simply stay put and RELAX! The eagles and ospreys put on quite a show in all kinds of weather!

Point No Point Casino offers headliner-entertainment, and a variety of eating spots--good food! The casino is about 10 minutes from our door, and makes for some fun times with friends, when you are not beach combing or napping or reading just another chapter of that good book! Our kitchen has EVERYthing you might need for cooking up a storm. Sometimes it is fun to put in a pan of brownies, or get a picnic ready for down by the fire pit. And the stars at night are amazing!
