HISTORIC 1930 WHISKEY CREEK CABIN, MINUTES TO GOVY, PRIVATE

Rhododendron Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

A wonderful rustic, yet spacious cabin in the shadow of Mount Hood, Oregon. Whiskey Creek Cabin provides ready access to many great places around Mount Hood.

The cabin was built in 1930 by the legendary Mount Hood wood craftsman and renowned cabin builder Henry Steiner. He and his son's built many of the cabins in the local area during the first half of the twentieth century. Henry's personal touches are everywhere that you look. Originally located at Whiskey Creek, along the Barlow Road, it was moved to it's present location near Brightwood, next to Hackett Creek, in the 1960's when the highway was widened. Whiskey Creek Cabin is also listed in the Oregon Historical Society. The cabin was renovated during 2007 and then we made it into a vacation rental early in 2008.

Whiskey Creek Cabin has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated for your comfort and relaxation. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of extra linens, pillows and towels. That is just the beginning of the many small details that will make this your favorite retreat on the mountain. We did our best to add all the comforts of home and then some for both you and your canine friends.

Thanks for visiting my VRBO site, I'm Kory and I live and play in the Mt Hood area. Whiskey Creek Cabin has been a lot of fun!. It's so great to see the same people are coming back! We have a small farm in the Welches area that I share with my husband, our 14 year old son, 3 horses, 2 Golden Retrievers, 1 Red Bone Coon Hound, 3 cats and most recently chickens. We enjoy riding our snowmobiles in the winter, our dirt bikes in the summer. My husband Gary likes to enjoy a round of golf while I hit the trail on my horse. Life is good when you get to live and play on Mt Hood!

THIS WAS A GREAT TIME AT THE CABIN WITH MY FAMILY!!

  • 5 of 5
This property was just as it was indicated in the VRBO site. I have younger kids that i wanted to have them experience the outdoors without sleeping in a tent (YET) and there was a lot of things to do around this cabin. My 5 year and 2 year old say almost everyday... "Dad when can we go back to the log cabin" a lot of joy to hear that. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

THE PERFECT RELAXING GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
Whiskey Creek is an incredible cabin! It's rustic but spacious, and very, very cozy thanks to the wood-burning stove. We comfortably fit eight (three couples, two women), spent the days going on nature walks, or reading by the fire or creek and the evenings cooking in the surprisingly spacious kitchen.

It was SO relaxing and fun! We can't wait to come back.

GREAT HOME BASE FOR MTN EXPLORING

  • 4 of 5
This is a nice cabin with pretty much everything you need to entertain a family, cook, and relax. We got this for 3 nights at the end of November. Nice flatscreen TV with satellite in the family room and a wood burning stove (with plenty of wood provided). The internet isn’t fast enough to stream movies or anything, but it’s great to have to check email and research what you’re going to do on the mountain. It’s nice that there’s a DVD/VCR hooked up too, with some movies to choose from, or just bring your own.
We used this as a home base for Mt Hood explorations. Over 3 days we went to Hood River, Mirror Lake, Timberline, and more. And that’s what I would recommend it for, as opposed to a “get away from it all” kind of place, because it is near other structures and a fairly active road, so I didn't feel secluded.

RELAXING GETAWAY!

  • 4 of 5
my husband and i stayed at this charming cabin with our four children ages 10, 8 and 3 year old twins. we all enjoyed our visit very much. the kitchen was great to cook in. very well stocked with supplies. we made buttermilk pancakes on the griddle and fresh bread in the oven. the dinning room is the perfect place for a family meal, cozy and charming. the first day we were there it rained but there was plenty room for the kids to play inside. my kids loved the log stairs, log bunk beds and all the nooks there were to play in upstairs. we enjoyed the rope swing in the yard and the back porch overlooking the creek.
The cabin is close to Lolo pass which is why we wanted to stay here. The drive up there is very scenic. There are waterfalls along the road and at the summit you can park and hike the pacific crest trail. after our day of outdoor adventure. it was a relief to drive a short way back to the cabin and warm up again.

A GREAT STAY FOR A GROUP

  • 5 of 5
I brought a group of adults with developmental disabilities to stay at Wiskey Creek cabin. They loved the cabin. It is beautiful and much bigger than it appears in the pictures. There was plenty of room for people to sleep on air mattresses on the floor (since there were not enough individual beds for everyone). We'll definitely be going again!
