Perfect getaway for a peaceful vacation. Artistic location just blocks from the 'Queen of the Missions', the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, and Rocky Nook Park. The living quarters is an 1890's barn with double glass doors that swing open to a private deck with view of the garden.
The bedroom has a queen bed, and there is also a day bed . There are soft wood floors, so please no dogs over 40 pounds, and not more than one.
An owner lives on the grounds to take care of any questions. The property has the outbuildings for an old mansion- the Barn, the Carriage House, the Stone Cottage and the Cook's Cottage.
Minutes to gorgeous downtown Santa Barbara with beautiful beaches, shopping, museums, and sightseeing. Perfect artist's or writer's loft.
This is our 4th stay at this absolutely beautiful rental. We stay in the upper unit of the converted barn. There is a very large private deck outside of the living room area which is surrounded by lovely trees. A fully equipped kitchen is great if you want to save $$ by preparing meals. There is an area off of the master bedroom with a desk for your laptop if you bring one. We love the original paintings on the walls by owner Jamee. This is truly our dream come true place to stay and we feel the stress melt away as soon as we drive into the highly desirable residential area of Mission Canyon to our rental. The property is well taken care by Jonathan & Courtney who live on site. They are very pleasant and accommodating if you need assistance. We are always surprised that each year they have made improvements. It is perfect.
What a lovely in law unit in a nice quiet Santa Barbara neighborhood. Minutes from everything, including museums, parks, and landmarks. Jaymee was a wonderful liaison for our trip. Nice living space, comfy bed, and appropriate amenities. Nice touches around the inlaw unit made us feel more like we were traveling at a friend's, than at a stagnate hotel. Looking forward to coming again!
We have been renting the renovated barn for a month every winter for the past three years. This place is a gem in every way. The first year we came here we could hardly believe our luck in finding such a place. The porch is furnished with comfortable couches and chairs as well as a lovely table for meals. It is the perfect place to read a book, do a puzzle or just have a glass of wine while viewing the beautiful vistas. The barn has been renovated with top quality upgrades. The decorating is beautiful with original paintings by the artist/landlord. The barn has two units. We have stayed in the lower as well as the upper and find both delightful. We look forward to our month here as our time in paradise! Jamee (owner/landlord) makes us feel like family. She is accommodating in every way but is respectful of our privacy.
My husband and I LOVE this place. It's a home away from home in a charming garden setting, with lots of room (queen bedroom plus extra twin in living alcove), outside decks with tables and seating, quiet, full of the owner's beautiful ocean themed art and much more. I love the redwood construction, reminds me of the best of the old California retreat/bungalow style like you see at Esalen or Boulder Creek or Tahoe. Not far from downtown, restaurants, Whole Foods and tons of cultural activities, yet in a quiet area with a beautiful park nearby. Perfect!
We would highly recommend this charming affordable place to stay in Santa Barbara...Close to everything, yet so secluded and quiet and lovely, surrounded by greenery, gardens, and a stunning view of the mountains. We enjoyed our early mornings sipping coffee on the private deck after a wonderful night's sleep in the comfortable beds, and we looked forward to coming "home" after our explorations of the area.....We would definitely stay here again!
Long overdue review. This place and its proprietors embody everything we love about SB. We stayed in the lower barn for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Shelley and Ravi are incredibly nice and laid back. Every one of Shelley's recommendations for places to go and places to eat was spot on. It was very difficult to leave. We will always stay here when we visit SB!
Very near the Mission, Rocky Nook Park, the Museum of Natural History and the Botanical Gardens.
