Resort : The condo itself is very quiet. It is not a hotel, all the units are owned. About forty percent of owners rent out their units when not in use. Overall it means compared to many other places which are very crowded, this place is very tranquil. You come back after a day of sightseeing and just relax. The grounds are immaculately landscaped. Beach chairs are always available, swimming is good. Parking is free. The restaurant is surprisingly good, no matter what you order: always fresh and delicious. Drinks are half off at happy hour which happens twice a day.
More information about the resort is available on its website
The floor plan is Comfort 2.
Surroundings - Cabarete: The condo is located about a kilometer East of Cabarete. The town has a fantastic beach with lots of activities: swimming, snorkeling (some corals off shore), windsurfing, surfing, etc. The place is famous around the world for wind surfing so it has a vibrant beach culture, there is lot of shops rent and sell the equipment, surf schools to teach you. The whole waterfront is covered with restaurants selling drinks, fresh seafood and different ethnic dishes. Palm trees are decorated with lanterns. It looks very romantic in the evening. The city also has a few grocery and hardware stores to stock up on anything you might need. The largest grocery store is Janet's. Prices are similar to North American, with some really good fresh cheeses, seafood and very cheap fruits.
Surroundings - Sosua: Next town west of there is Sosua: also a nice beach, lots of restaurants and stores. They have good snorkeling tours leaving right from the beach, I would definitely recommend doing it. There is a Seahorse resort complex between Sosua and Cabarete. Stop by the gate and ask if the restaurant is open. The place is rather upscale, a little pricy, but it is located on the reef with ocean all around you, waves splashing, etc. Unforgettable experience.
