HARBOUR VIEW 60 YDS FROM OCEAN WITH AMAZING VIEWS

We stayed at Harbour view in April and were well received by its owners, Don and Gail. The house has 2 floors and they rent the top. The house has a good location and it's 15 minutes from George Town way to Little Exuma (definitely we recommend a car for getting around the island). Harbour View is also close to 2 of the best beaches in the exumas, Tropic of Cancer Beach and Pretty Molly Bay. The space they rent of the house consists of a spacious bedroom with a queen size bed and English style furniture, and has a window overlooking the sea and the cays, but does not have any kind of curtain, something really unexplainable, the sun makes you wake up at 6 AM. Also the room has a large and well decorated bathroom, air conditioning which makes noise and it's a bit annoying to sleep at night. There is a another room that can be a dining room with a kitchen in which we find a refrigerator, a microwave and electric oven, but no stove making it difficult to prepare several meals. Also in the room is a small TV and small dining table 90 x 45 cms. approx. with 3 chairs, there is another bathroom attached to this room. You can also find a bookcase with several books and the owners have prepared a folder with everything you can do on the island.
The house has a terrace which can be used by the guests with breathtaking open views of the sea and the cays, really spectacular. You can also use the kayak and reach Moriah Cay and Man o War Cay which are just meters from the house, we recommend the beaches and one can be truly alone (use sunscreen 30 or 50 because the sun is terrible there).
The negative aspects were: the lack of curtains in the bedroom, the lack of stove in the kitchen, lack of washing and drying machines, the lack of a telephone for local calls and air conditioning noise in the bedroom.
Don and Gail are kind people, they like to talk and try to advise the best possible, they should try to correct these points to enhance the stay of the guests.

Of all the possible places we could have picked to stay I couldn’t have been happier to have chosen ‘Harbour View’. My wife and I were looking for a quiet location away from it all in order to just chill out and take it easy for a week but finding somewhere that has the right balance of comfort, price and locale is a difficult task and having made mistakes in the past I really wanted to get it right this time. If you’re looking for a ‘resort’ type of atmosphere then this is the wrong place for you, this will be the opposite of the ‘canned’ vacation you would find there, instead you will find a spacious apartment offering solitude with everything you need from a very comfortable bed, reliable wifi, basic kitchen, a living room (that has a pullout bed for kids), not one but two bathrooms, reliable AC and a balcony all to yourself with a view that I’m at a loss for words to describe. Moriah Cay is just a couple of hundred yards away and easily accessible with the kayak provided, I highly recommend a trip there if you want to experience beautiful deserted beaches and turquoise waters of almost impossible color, take a packed lunch with you and lots of sunscreen!
I thoroughly recommend renting a car so you can explore more of the island, we got one through Thompsons who provided us with a reliable Honda Accord with a good 100,000 miles on the clock but as I said it was reliable so who cares?! It’s not like you’re going to be covering hundreds of miles in Exuma because you can’t! You just need transport to the next beach or watering hole…….
We also rented a small Boston Whaler from Minns to explore Stocking Island and some of the other Cays nearby, this is thoroughly recommended, Don and Gail (our hosts) pointed out some of the choice places to visit which we intended to do but ended up falling in with the crowd at Chat N Chill (great open air beach bar/restaurant) and we achieved about 30% of our goals but no problem because it just gives me more of an excuse to return sometime so we can finish our exploration!
Don and Gail who own Harbour View and live on the lower floor could not have been more accommodating, they are warm, friendly, genuine people from England who have lived in Exuma for a long time, they are very knowledgeable of what there is to do and offer great advice when needed but also respect your privacy so you can enjoy the wonderful solitude that this location has to offer.
We can’t wait to go back!

Harbour view was perfect for all our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Don and Gail were wonderful and helped plan your trip to ensure you make the most out of your stay. The kayak was great fun exploring the surrounding islands and we loved the fact that it was so peaceful and quiet with hardly another person around.
Don and Gail called ahead to restuarnat a to check they were open and looked after us very well.
The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend staying here to anyone. We hope to return one day soon.
