Gloucester is an old fishing town, whose heritage stems from Italian and Portuguese fisherman. It was also and is a
source of granite for building and artist in the past and present. The Cape Ann area is a large art colony for artists of all kinds. There are many many studios and galleries both in Gloucester and Rockport. We also have a live theater, as well as a little arts cinema, and lots of shopping.
The water front is an exciting place with deep sea fishing, restaurants, whale watching, boating, cruises, etc.
There are a number of fantastic museums, and the nearby town of Essex offers hours of antiquing, and the world's most famous fried clams!
Gloucester and Rockport's sandy beaches are beautiful, clean and easily accessible.
There is plenty do for activities such as cycling, scuba diving, kayaking, or simply walking the beaches.
