During the day enjoy Cape on the Lake's private beach area with over 250 feet of waterfront, brand new 40 dock and swim raft. Dock and raft are placed in lake by June 1st and removed October 1st.
In the evenings, enjoy the crystal clear skies by the large firepit (permits included along with plenty of seasoned wood).
Watch loons, boats from multiple adirondack chairs overlooking the lake. Fish from the private dock, swim, bring a boat, a jet ski, enjoy the property's kayak, basically anything you would ever want to do on a lake, you can do at Cape On The Lake. Public beach is a short 15 minute walk away through the Suncook Lake forest preserve.
The property is over 2 private acres and if you have children, they will love the freedom to roam and explore. You will love the perennials and natural New Hampshire flora. Deer can be seen on the property in the early morning along with other wildlife. This is 100% grade A New Hampshire.
The house has been completely renovated since it was purchased five years ago. It has 2 bedrooms, renovated kitchen, renovated bath, living room and separate dining area. Kitchen and dining areas have new wide pine floors.
An oversized, screened-in porch, which will accommodate several people for dining. And after that long day of swimming and your big long dinner, jump right into your private hot tub.

We love the lake in New Hampshire. Great weather, warm weather and lots of outdoor activities. We wanted our son to experience the outdoors. Suncook Lake is much quieter than Lake Winnipesaukee but has all the benefits without the crowds.
The lake! Swimming, watersking, kayaking, fishing and playing on the beach. The property also has acres of grass for soccer, baseball etc...
The size of the property ensures privacy for guests.
Beautiful! As advertised. Private, lots of space to run our dogs and for the kids to play.
This vacation rental is perfect in so many ways. It is undoubtedly situated on the best piece of real estate on the lake. The property juts out a bit, so you have more than 180 degree water views. The property is private and large enough for lots of great playing – whether with your children or your dogs. The screened porch is the perfect spot for relaxing while listening to the loons. I did not use the hot tub, but with the lake view, it seems like it would be very romantic place to relax with your loved one. It is an easy drive to the Seacoast or the White Mountains, with so much to see and do in between. Mike and Kathy are both excellent communicators and made my stay well worth the 10-hour trip to get there. My dogs loved swimming in the lake and running in the yard, and I love that my dogs were so welcome. There is no doubt, I will be back.
We chose Cape on the Lake for two main reasons - the quiet, relaxing location on the lake with the hot tub, hammock, dock/swim raft and fire pit along with the ability to bring our 2 dogs with us who always get stuck in day care when we go away. We were not disappointed!!!! The reality of this adorable cottage was much better than the pictures - clean and tidy, comfortable and so many relaxing things to do right at the cottage that we never left except for the first day to pick up a few supplies at the adorable country store just a couple of miles down the road. The dogs loved being able to hang out with us and we were thrilled to have them share this awesome vacation! We brought our 90 year old Mother with us and it was such a special time that none of us will ever forget. We watched the millions of stars at night from both the hot tub and from our chairs around the fire, we swam (with the dogs) out to the swim raft, relaxed/slept in the hammock, ate outside facing the lake at the huge picnic table, read/napped on the adirondack chairs lakeside and on the bench on the end of the dock, spent hours relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the loons and the crickets, even sat on the hill amongst a field full of dragonflies as they flitted about in every direction - magical!!! We were never bored and never even left the cottage except to walk the dogs - it was perfect in every way! The caretaker Kathy was extremely helpful and friendly. The cottage came fully equipped with everything you could want including the fluffiest of towels and even a Keurig coffee maker with K-cups included! PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!!! We are already planning our next stay and will be telling all of our friends, especially the dog lovers like us! This place gets 10 stars for sure!
My family and I loved the cape on the lake. We couldn't believe our luck in finding such a great place. The setting was perfect and beautiful - we swam everyday, relaxed on the porch every evening and were so happy w the location. The house was clean with all the comforts of home. Thank you to Mike and his family for making our stay so enjoyable. We hope to return next summer!
This was one of the best vacations my family and I ever had. It was peaceful, beautiful and full of wonderful things to do. The house itself is very cozy, perfect for a family of four. Most days we sat by/swam in Suncook Lake, enjoying the beach area, dock and private raft. (My 3 and 7 year olds REALLY loved the raft :) My husband and I enjoyed fishing off of the dock, Kayaking, relaxing in the hot tub and sitting by the fire at night. The yard is humongous, allowing plenty of room for my kids and dog to play (Yes, dogs are allowed which was one of the main reasons we chose this house... My german shepherd is 10 and I no longer want to board her.) As an amateur photographer, I was excited by the beauty of the place and the endless subject matter to shoot. Surrounding Barnstead is full of entertaining things to do... Steve at Big Fish/Little Fish Exotic Pets on Rt. 28 treated us like family in his store and drew a map full of local (inexpensive!) attractions which our entire family enjoyed immensely. Also, Lake Winnipesaukee (Weirs Beach) was less than a half hour drive and it was lots of fun to experience that as well (Although I'm so glad we didn't stay there a full week~very much a tourist trap.) Kathy, the caretaker was very attentive, making sure all of our needs were met. Prior to arriving the owners were very prompt in returning emails and very courteous, answering all questions I had prior to arrival. I would absolutely recommend this to other families and we will be going back!
The cottage is campy but with a clean, upscaled edge. Very comfortable master BR, albiet small and although there is an 5 drawer chest for clothing, there is no closet space. Same for the guest BR. The living space is great when you factor in the screened porch overlooking the lake, the furniture on the porch could use some upgrading but overall, it was pretty comfortable. You can not beat the spot on the lake, we kayaked around the whole upper Suncook and determined this was the best location to be. The fire pit is HUGE and a great place to hang out at night. If you want a relaxing vacation where you want to park your car and never leave, this is a good choice. We did run into a problem with the refrigerator, the circuit board blew and we lost use of it for a couple of days but it was no fault of the owners (it still looked new, the blame falls on GE). I contacted the caretaker and the owner and they did their best to resolve the situation. The owner even drove up the next day with a new fridge because the repair man couldn't commit to a timely repair. As unhappy as I was about having to live out of coolers for a couple of days, I can't say enough about how extremely responsive and very apologetic the owner Jason and caretaker Kathy were. I travel often and am rather picky with my accommodations. This is not a 5 star resort but you shouldn't expect one if you're looking for a lake cottage. I highly recommend staying here.
My husband and I searched high and low for the perfect place to spend my 30th birthday that would fit both of our personalities and we found it at Cape On the Lake. I loved being able to get away from the city and the noise and be surrounded by nature but still able to get out and be active. We saw the pictures and it looked gorgeous. I was immediately interested but nothing prepared us for the breathtaking views when we arrived. I tried all week to take pictures that captured how beautiful it was but I just couldn't create one that compared to being there in person. The bed in the master bedroom was incredibly comfortable. There were plenty of books and movies to choose from for those that wanted to curl up on the cushy couch or for those wanting to get outside: a lake to swim in, a dock to lay out on and a quiet road in front of the house that was fantastic to go for a run or bike on. AND we did it all! Not to mention relaxing in the hot tub!! It was just the two of us for most of our stay but another couple did join us one night and there was plenty of room for us all to do our own thing as well as all gather around the table for meals or in the living room to play board games. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of the fire pit but my husband and I can't wait to get back in September when the nights are a little cooler so we can get a fire going and eat at the outside picnic table. Doesn't matter what time of year, anyone can enjoy Cape On the Lake. OH! and there are some fun wine vineyards in the area and lots of great hiking nearby!
