|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Enjoy a relaxing vacation only 1.75 hours from NYC at a fun, amenity-filled, quiet/remote luxury home with hot tub and pool table in the lower Catskills.
This charming, completely remodeled (like new), spacious Swiss-chalet style house is just steps to Hunter Lake (which is one of the few Catskill lakes which allows motor boats and jetskis), all within a private lake community. I spared no expense with renovating my dream home!
Make brunch in the gorgeous new kitchen, and enjoy it year-round on the brand new screened-in porch (carpeted, with glass panels and an electric fireplace for cool nights). Grab your swimsuit and head to the private lake (which is 2 blocks away) for swimming, boating, or fishing...there you will find a dock with rope swing and swimming dock about 20 feet out, as well as my canoe for a fun day on the lake! Or you can bring the rafts from the house and simply float around picturesque Hunter Lake and relax.
In the evening you can have a glass of wine on the deck or balcony and look at the stars; lounge on the couch in the porch with a good book; or simply unwind in the 6-person hot tub. Then enjoy a relaxing outdoor shower before grilling dinner on the barbecue.
After dinner, head to the media room for a big-screen movie or a game of billiards, and enjoy a drink at the home wet bar.
Please email me for more photos, or call me directly for more information about my lovely home!
If you feel like entertainment, Monticello Casino and Raceway, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, and Holiday Mountain Fun Park are minutes away!
This fantastic lake house is my own amazing retreat from NYC, and you can make it yours too!
I am a busy attorney living in Manhattan. I bought my lake house to escape from city life once in a while, and filled it with my favorite amenities to enjoy it when I can. I decided to list it on HomeAway so that others can enjoy it when I can't!
Aimee Drouin purchased this chateau / country house in 2010
I fell in love with this adorable house as soon as I saw it, and the deeded lake rights sealed the deal for me. I then added a screened-in/glassed-in porch and hot tub, remodeled the previously-unfinished basement to turn it into a fun media room (including the wet bar, dart board, and pool table I always wanted), gutted and remodeled the kitchen, and added a bathroom upstairs and an outdoor shower to make this house my dream vacation home! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
The remote-feeling location while being 2 hours less from Manhattan is wonderful, as is the pristine Hunter Lake for boating, swimming and fishing. Remodeling my home to fit my personality and include my favorite amenities made this the perfect house for me...and hopefully for you, too!
A group of 10 of our friends went up to the Hunter Lakehouse for a New Year's retreat away from the city. It was a perfect 2 hour drive which was far enough but not too far. All throughout, Aimee, the owner, was very responsive and straight forward with the details of the place. And when we arrived to the house, we couldn't have been happier. There were no surprises as the pictures are extremely true to life. All in all, it is a very nicely decorated and cozy spot with access to and views of a beautiful lake. We utilized all areas of the house as there was plenty to do inside with the pool table and nice size tvs throughout. We especially took advantage of the enclosed porch with the hot tub which was perfect for relaxing both day and night. Honestly, we didn't run into any problems while there and we are already planning when we will be returning next... Hopefully soon! Thanks again Aimee!
the house was very clean, well furnished and stocked for all needs - and the owner was very responsive to our inquiries and questions.
hunter lake access was great (short skip away from the house) - we used the canoe and rope swing to the fullest - and the pool table and jacuzzi werre a hit with both kids and adults!
there are many lakes, ponds and trails to explore in the area - a world of getaways - plus Dari King right off the exit serves yummy soft serve ice cream!
Had a great time at the house, the lake beach with canoe and rope swing were a hit with the kids. Good hikes nearby. Hot tub on the porch was a plus and sleeping worked for two families (8 people total with kids all in one room). Rainy days worked out well also, with wii and pool table downstairs. Hope to come again.
This house was a perfect getaway spot from the city. The renters were extraordinarily helpful throughout the whole experience, especially answering our endless list of questions prior to arrival. They even checked with us to make sure we were okay when we reached the house. The porch, kitchen, and outside BBQ were great for meals; the hot-tub was really toasty; and the downstairs game/bar room provided fun into the wee hours of the morning. Make sure to find the "alternate" version of Jenga in the game chest. When we did manage to pry ourselves away from the house, we took advantage of the lake (just quick walk down the road). We enjoyed a picnic by the water and canoed all around the lake. A few of us even gave the rope swing a try. The online pictures do the house justice; you'll love this place. Absolutely recommended, we definitely have plans to return for future escapes from the city ourselves.
This house is really fun. Perfect for 3 couples looking to get away from the city. The game/bar room downstairs kept us very entertained all weekend long. The lake is really close, just a short walk away and we spent lots of daytime hours near the water...and brought a canoe which made for an awesome adventure paddling around the lake. The nearest town is Livingston Manor which is tiny and quiet, but has awesome food and little mom & pop stores. The house has everything you need to have a relaxing weekend in the mountains - highly recomended.
