Photos and Description of the Fressin vacation cottage rental
A self-catering rental with a large patio, garden and lawn. Wheelchair access.

PLEASE NOTE OUR RATES ARE £100 PER PERSON PER WEEK. £300 IS OUR MINIMUM TOTAL FEE. SEE RATES BELOW.

A quaint and spacious oak-beamed cottage with large terraces, gardens and plenty of parking space in a rural village. Suitable for up to 7 people. Gas and electric heating throughout. Books, board games, DVDs & videos provided.

Ground Floor: Fully-equipped kitchen next to dining area and through to sitting area with UK satellite/video/DVD TV and music centre. Shower room (include double vanity unit, toilet and washing machine). Hall and second toilet. Large king-size double bedroom.

First Floor: Landing, large twin bedroom, small twin bedroom and a single bedroom with video TV, suitable for a games console.

Outside: Patio tables and barbecue. 3 bicycles in the shed.

The village is situated in a farming valley, close to forests with signposted walks. A large wine merchants in village. There's a traveling baker and grocer. It's 5 miles from the small town of Hesdin for supermarkets, bars, restaurants etc

There's a great Bar/Brasserie in the village (200 yds) and 2 other Bar/Brasseries about 1 mile away

Travel Information: By car, it's only an hour from the Calais ports or Boulogne.

Full directions are provided before you travel and local maps can be found in on of the drawers at the cottage.

One key to the front door will be posted to you in advance.

There is a spare key available, so your party can split into groups but still get back inside.

Note that in France the supermarkets no longer give out plastic carrier bags. Take a couple of shopping bags with you when you go to the shops.

Sports Equipment: There are 3 ladies' bicycles in the shed, but only one helmet. A puncture repair kit and pump are included.

Two sets of golf clubs (and a spare bag, to make a third, reduced set) are available at no extra cost ( please replace any balls etc).

Barbecue: Some charcoal and wood should be under the barbie. Please replace with same, if used.

Suitability: Pets are welcome at no extra charge. Smoking is permitted, preferably outdoors !

Wheelchair use is possible, as there's no steps, a ground floor bedroom, a shower with an integral moulded seat but there's no special equipment (grab rails etc).

Situated in a quiet farming village, not far from Dennlys Parc adventure theme park with the vast sandy beaches of the Channel coast just a 30 minute drive away. Seaside resorts vary from Berck and le Touquet, which are large, to Merlimont (the closest) and Stella Plage, both of which are small.

Notes

  • Please note that, in order to be flexible on visitor numbers, we price on a £100 PER PERSON PER WEEK basis, but with a minimum total charge of £300 per week or part of a week. Because it's a large 4 bedroomed house with some set costs that can't be reduced (laundry, cleaning, water heating etc), we cannot do it for less than £300 per week. If your party is small (2 or 3 people) or you only want a short 4 or 5 day break please bear this in mind.
    If your party includes three or more children then we are prepared to negotiate a favourable discount of some kind.
    We no longer have different rates for summer, winter, school holidays etc - just one flat rate throughout the year.
    £100 fully-returnable deposit required. Small breakages, such as the odd glass or cup, are not counted

  • The main shower room was completely renewed 5 years ago. The cloakroom (loo and hand basin) were created 5 years ago. Please note that we no longer provide bath towels for individual guests. (We will still provide one hand towel at each sink.)

Notes: Huge new leather sofas have been purchased for the sitting area. Wheelchair access is easy, as there's no steps at either the front or back door. Bedroom 1 is on the ground floor. There are no special considerations in the bathroom, except that there's an integral seat in the shower compartment. Dustbin day is Wednesday around 8 am. Black bin bags are provided for rubbish (which includes plastic and paper, but NO glass. They won't take a bag with bottles in it Put the bags out on the roadside at the front of the house on Tuesday night. Glass can be recycled in the green bin by the music foyer on the other side of the river (150 yards away).

A lovely French house, with all the facilities of a home from home.Attractive, well-maintained, wholesome and clean, with a very efficient service provided by the owner. The setting was a charming, tranquil village, with beautiful surrounding countryside. Further afield are many interesting towns and facilities, and good access from UK would make this suitable for a short break or long stay. . . . . .my ideal heaven!

All communications with the owners were very clear and booking was completely stress free. Directions and other important information along with keys were sent in good time through the post. The cottage was very easy to find from the Calais port. The cottage was just as described, very clean, spacious and in a lovely location. It is brilliantly situated for visiting a wide range of attractions- including Boulogne Sur Mer and Berck Sur Mer which the kids loved. Beds were very comfortable and we all slept like logs. We have been to quite a few holiday rentals in France and this was one of the best in terms of size, location and value for for money. We would highly recommend it.

A wonderful chill out location and more

The property is exactly as described, everything you could want and more. Only thing that was a slight problem was the shower and, only because my son has no transfer skills whatsoever, he is an adult, and needs 2 person lifting. Nevertheless there are always ways and means. His wheelchair went everywhere, and I have not seen him so relaxed in a long time. He never even opened his laptop.

The property was clean and the beds very comfortable, best we've ever woke up from abroad. The fresh bakery delivery is to die for. DO NOT MISS IT. The neighbours very friendly. Found a great restaurant in Hesdin 'Le Belle Epoque' 30 Rue Daneil Lereuil Tel. 03.21.86.42.89. The Hare Terrine wonderful, salmon crepe, oh my god. Weather was good somedays, not so others but it is such a great cottage that even staying in is a pleasure.

We were easily able to visit sites that were planned ie War Graves only an hour & half drive, and a short walk brings you to an old 15th Century Chateau.

Advantage is taking your own car, no flight hassles, supermarkets are friendly and easy and my french, was soon, after not speaking it for 40yrs, coming back into play.

Dickie and Barbara, thankyou for letting us stay in your home it is great, and we will definitelly come again. I would tell family and friends, but I think I like the idea of keeping this my secret holiday home.

What a wonderful experience

Everythink Dickie and Barbara told us was absolutely spot on.
The cottage was just perfect. Clean well maintained and every facility you could of wanted even right down to Hot Water bottles. Having Satellite TV was great if you love watching English soaps!
The village was very quaint and to be in the countryside that was so quite and peaceful was just an absolute pleasure. Hesdin and Frudes were not far away and both have Carrefour Supermarket just outside the towns which were very handy.
The roads were quiet a pleasure to drive on as we visited Le Touquet, Arras, Dunkirk and Aidenkirk in Belgium. We did take are Passports with us for Aidenkirk, but didn't need to use them. This was our first time we have ever booked a Cottage away, but i must say this Holiday turned out to be amazing success.
It was like having a dream holiday!!
We would highly recommend this holiday and look forward to returning to Les Tardis in the near future.
Thank you Dickie & Barbara once again for a lovely holiday.

Really comfy house, like home from home

Everything that was described in the listings were accurate. The house was clean, comfy, and well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay at Les Tardis and the peace of a typical rural French vilage. From the booking process to arrival the professional and friendly assistance from Dickie and Barbara were outstanding. We have rented many properties in France and this has to be one of the best.
