I have been a general contractor and a real estate broker for many years. I have built more than 200 houses in my lifetime. My wife, Toni is an Organizational Psychologist. We designed and built Casa Azul in 2006 after many years of renting in Sayulita. We tried to incorporate the best things that we found in other rentals. I think we have succeeded. Casa Azul has become more popular each year with many repeat guests.
Gordon Knott purchased this villa in 2006
We looked for the right property for several years before deciding on this property. After renting in Sayulita for 15 years we had established criteria for the location. We decided, for instance, that we didn't want to be on the beach, but near it. Being on the beach does not afford the privacy of a privately gated home, nor the quiet evenings. We also decided that we wanted to be on the north side of town away from the bars & restaurants. But, we wanted to be able to walk anywhere in town in 5-7 minutes. You can do that from Casa Azul.
We think we found the perfect spot in the perfect little village of Sayulita. I know you will enjoy it as much as we do.
We are located on the quiet north end of town. We are 100 yards from the beach, near the surf break. We have ocean views from our upper decks. You can walk anywhere in town from Casa Azul in 5-7 minutes, so there is no need for a rental car.
Great location! Near the beach but away from the noise. Short walk to town. The salt water pool is perfect.
Our family group of parents, adult kids, significant other, and cousins had a great time in Sayulita while staying at the wonderful Casa Azul, and the owners were very accessible to answer our questions both before and during our stay.
The home is lovely inside and out, and provided plenty of indoor and outdoor public space as well as very private bedrooms. The photos offer a very accurate representation of the property, indoors and out. The housekeeper, Sarah, did a great job and was very unobtrusive. We had her daughter Esther make us a lovely meal one night of our stay, including delicious passionfruit margaritas - I would definitely recommend doing that at least once during your visit. We even had food leftover for lunches and snacks.
Casa Azul is conveniently located a block and a half from the quiet end of Sayulita's beach, but is with easy walking distance of everything in town. While in Sayulita, we enjoyed Stand Up Paddle-boarding, and an ATV and zip-line adventure (through Rancho Mi Chaparrita: www.michaparrita.com), as well as a self guided hike of Monkey Mountain. We enjoyed lovely meals at El Itacate (tacos), Pizza Venezia (pizza and pasta, and just a block from Casa Azul), and Tropical House, also very close to Casa Azul. At a friend's recommendation, we also planned a dinner at Haramara Yoga Retreat (you need to plan this at least a day in advance). The meal and setting were both lovely.
I would definitely recommend Casa Azul to anyone who is considering a visit to Sayulita.
Our stay at Casa Azul was great from start to finish! The home was clean, comfortable, and well maintained and appeared exactly as described in the VRBO listing. The housekeeper, Sarah, was friendly, accommodating (she did a couple of loads of wash for us) and unobtrusive. Sarah and her daughter Esther even prepared a fantastic meal (including Passionfruit Margaritas) for us one evening.
We did not have a car or golf cart and did not need one! Everything in town was easily accessible on foot and the beach was an easy block and a half down the road.
While in Sayulita, a few from our group enjoyed a day riding ATV's and zip-lining with Rancho Mi Chaparrita (www.michaparrita.com).
We really enjoyed the tacos at El Itacate, pizza and pasta at Pizza Venezia, and many of the entrees at Tropical House.
We also had a wonderful meal at Haramara Yoga Retreat to celebrate a birthday (beware, they charged our cc more than we signed for, but when we brought it to their attention the next day, they came to Casa Azul and refunded the overcharge in dollars).
Casa Azul's owner was very responsive to questions I had leading up to the trip and refunded my security deposit within days of my return home. All in all, our stay at Casa Azul in Sayulita was great and I would recomend it to family and friends!
The way the home is laid out with a central living and kitchen and three distant, satellite bedrooms gives a sense of community living yet everyone has privacy.
The A/C units in the bedrooms are great because they knock out the humidity and few extra degrees necessary for a great night's sleep.
We stayed for a week in October 2014 and loved it. The home is gorgeous, every bit as lovely as the pictures. The groundskeeper and housekeeper were professional and took great care of us. We had dinner prepared for us in the home one night and it was delicious. We needed help a few times and Jorge was responsive and helpful. we will definitely be back and will rent Casa Azul again soon. It is lovely enough to rent for a party or a small wedding. We rented a golf cart to get into town easily and quickly. The food in town was delicious, the beach was lovely.
THE HOUSE IS EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES... OR EVEN BETTER. PEOPLE IS ABSOLUTELY NICE. THE POOL IS ALWAYS CLEAN AND WARM. BEACH IS ONE BLOCK AND DOWNTOWN IS FOUR BLOCKS. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND TO STAY THERE.
Sayulita is now considered the surfing capital of Mexico. It is still a quaint, safe fishing village. There shops and restaurants (about 35 at last count). Casa Azul is a secure Villa with it a private saltwater pool set in beautifully landscaped grounds. We are on the 'quiet' north side of town away from the loud restaurants and bars. you can walk anywhere in Sayulita from Casa Azul in 5-7 minutes, so there is no need for a car rental. We are about 100 yards from the beach. Our street, Calle Coral is a beach access street. We have three master suites, each with its own bath room. two have king sized beds and one has a queen. In addition there is a 'bonus' room that has built in couches that can sleep a couple of kids. Each of the bedrooms is separate and private from the others.
