Peacful retreat

  • 5 of 5
We (mom, dad, 3 kids ranging from 18 mo to 7 years, and mother-in-law) had a fantastic stay for an extended weekend. The scenery is spectacular. The accommodations are perfect (even with little kiddos)--cozy wood-burning stove, plenty of space, nice use of space. The location is ideal for multiple activities (~1.5 hours to Yellowstone Park, 45 min to skiing, 40 min to airport, 435 min to world-class fly fishing, 30 min to food/shopping). Highly recommended for a mountain getaway.

The Girls getaway

  • 5 of 5
We had 6 women 5 from knoxville tn and 1 from lake george ny arrive.
The log home was great, big enough that we had space to ourselves.
We had a blast staying at the canin, enjoying the large deck and the
awesome view.
We cooked at home and took several trops in to Yellowstone, Cody and
Bozeman. We checked out the peaceful neighborhood and enjoyed the
Mountain vistas from several different vantage points.
Thank you to Gerry for making the rental process so easy and the accomodations
So cozy. We all spoke of making it a return trip!
Thanks again!

A Wonderful Week in the Woods!

  • 5 of 5
There is so much to say about this great house, so I will try to be succinct. We selected it for its size--our large family was gathering for our niece's wedding in Bozeman--and ideally we would have had one more bath and one more bedroom. But the nine of us made it work, and the number one asset of the house was the large deck, where you could find my early-bird siblings having their first cup of coffee while watching for birds and deer. With ample seating, as well as a grill, fire pit and picnic table, this was where we spent the majority of our time when we were at the house, and where we easily entertained visiting family for an after-wedding grill party. This was also a spectacular spot for watching sunsets.

The owners responded quickly and completely to all inquiries before and after our arrival, and their directions to the house and about the operation of the house are thorough. However, do know there is no garbage pick-up--it must be hauled to the bottom of the hill, to dumpsters located there--and ample heavy-duty bags are provided for this chore. Also, while we did not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, and made it to the house without trouble, once you leave the paved road by the Grizzly Experience entrance, the next 3.3 miles are uphill and gravel. But you can't beat the scenery! Another thing about the road; do not attempt to make your first trip up to the house in the dark!! We had late-arriving family that first day who were confident they could find their way; we insisted on meeting them at the bottom of the hill, and they were so happy we did...it is easy to make a wrong turn, even in daylight. By the way, the trip up the gravel road takes about 12-15 minutes....and once at the bottom of the hill you are in Bozeman in maybe 12 more minutes.

A few other details: Hot water tank isn't quite sufficient for a larger crowd, but it seemed to refresh fairly quickly. The kitchen was nicely stocked with basics (olive oil, vinegar, paper plates) and handled several people cooking/prepping at the same time. There were plenty of linens/towels, but the couple in the master suite would have liked window coverings....not for privacy but for darkness when they wanted to sleep in.

Bottom line: If you want to be close to the great town of Bozeman, and not far from Yellowstone, while having a wilderness experience at the end of the day, this is the place. Thanks Gerry and Lee Ann for sharing this retreat!!

Absolute Paradise

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented Peacemaker because of the location to Bozeman, the great rate and the gorgeous views! It was just the 2 of us, but we had a wonderful stay in your lovely cabin. From the moment we walked in the front door, we knew we had made the right choice for our Montana vacation! We have rented many homes thru VRBO, both in the US and the Caribbean, and this was truly one of the best. The cabin has every amenity you'd ever need for a vacation away from home! We enjoyed the deck for breakfast, evening cocktails and cards, sunsets and the wonderful fire pit. Never once turned on the TV. It was just too beautiful outside! Although we never saw the neighborhood moose, we saw plenty of deer, marmots, chipmunks, birds and the local cows. We would love to come back with our entire family on our next visit to Bozeman. Great cabin, superb location and a true treasure!

Outstanding time, terrific property

  • 5 of 5
We had a terrific experience - property was immaculate and well maintained, and the setting itself is gorgeous. Amazing views, lots of space and very convenient to Bozeman. Although there were only 4 of us, I could easily see a much larger group enjoying the property. Really enjoyed working with Gerry, he was very responsive and followed up to make sure everything was perfect. A great value and a great time!

Paradise

  • 5 of 5
Our family reunion at 100 Peacemaker Road was the best ever. We had as many as 12 people in this beautiful home and as few as 4 as the week progressed, and the house felt perfect no matter our numbers. As the photos reveal the views are astonishing and the house itself is an architectural delight with fine finishes and tasteful decorations. Comfort is everywhere from the cushy furniture to the memory foam bath mats in the bathrooms.

The house accommodates whatever mood anyone might be in as there are so many areas where people might congregate. So, in our case, while the Olympics were playing in the living room there was a Ticket to Ride game going in the dining area, something happening in the kitchen and some family members were lingering on the deck. The deck deserves special mention, as it is essentially an entire other room of the house with, again, different choices of seating for different purposes (the picnic table for eating, the deep padded chairs for morning coffee and napping, etc.)

Our only concern was to do with my father's lack of mobility and how he might navigate the house. There is a bedroom on the main floor, but both showers are upstairs. We worked around this by making sure someone was with Dad at all times when climbing the stairs, which he only did twice a day. Dad loved the house!

There is a little red fox who lives close by as more than one of us saw him when driving in and out. We also saw deer and two turkeys down the road a ways. Very nice neighbors.

Not only were the owners of this home completely solicitous about seeing to our needs during our stay, they were completely accessible and responsive when we were planning for our trip. They clearly take tremendous pride in their home, and great joy in sharing it with others. I honestly cannot image we could have possibly had a better experience than we did this week. Thank you so much, Gerry, for sharing your beautiful home with our family. And thanks for leaving us the ice cream in the freezer!

Owner's Response: Cynthia,

We’ve received many five star review from our wonderful guests, and even hosted an Ambassadorial Dignitary on one occasion, but you and your family thoroughly have warmed are hearts with your kindness and goodwill. I always try to reply to these types of reviews with a sincere thank you, but that just seems so mild and tepid a reply, so I thought I would share a little more of a personal touch as you picked up on a key point in you review…our pride in this home. We bought it as a place to get away from it all and enjoy the splendor that is Montana. I fell in love with the home the minute I walked through the door the first time. The previous owner built it with lots of love and pride with the intention of raising his family there and never moving. Unfortunately for them, they realized the seclusion and privacy wasn’t the best social environment to necessarily raise a family with children in and made the very difficult decision to move into the Bozeman valley. The previous homeowner and I talked many times prior to my acquiring the home and he sold it to me under the gentlemen’s agreement that I take good care of it and always treat it with the respect and honor he felt in building it for his family. I agreed. They even stayed in it for a while after it was sold. What’s amazing to me (and seems to come out in the reviews) is that this home brings out the absolute best in everyone that has stayed and the heartfelt thanks, truly is emotional sometimes, because it’s just so rewarding for us to supplement the cost of ownership while bringing such joy to others. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our home while once again making lifetime memories and thank you for taking the time to share such happiness with us.

Respectfully,

Gerry & Lee Ann
