This waterfront property is the perfect vacation rental for those that want all the comforts of home and a relaxing environment after a day of activity in the greater New Orleans area. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bath, kitchen, living and dining room. Upper deck has screen porch with cushion chairs and open sun deck. Lower area is perfect for relaxation with a soft breeze blowing. It has a sink with hot/cold water, patio table/chairs, swing, gas grill, fish fryer and seafood boiler. Concrete dock has boat tie-ups, fish cleaning table and park bench for resting while dock fishing/crabbing. Launch your boat at Joe's Landing Marina 1 mile away. We are the 7th canal from Joe's Landing Marina.

Charter Guide Fishing: The Island of Barataria is known for spectacular fresh/salt water fishing. Charter guide fishing and other water sports include boating and skiing. Rojas Charters is an excellent source for guide fishing .

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve: Just 13 miles from your vacation home is the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Take a walk on one of several nature trails, visit the welcome center and watch free movies, rent a canoe or book a guided excursion down twin canals. Also, nearby is available guided swamp tours and air boat excursions.

Downtown New Orleans: 27 miles away (30-40 minute drive) in the city of New Orleans you can visit the Aquarium of Americas, Jackson Square Shopping, Harrah 's Casino, Zoo, French Quarter, Botanical Gardens, New Oreleans Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, Arena, New Orleans Super Dome, fine Restaurants, Museums etc, etc

About Neil C or Amelia M Cagle

My wife and I grew up in North Carolina and have lived in New Orleans since 1980. We continue to enjoy our journey through life having been married for 46 wonderful years. Our son is married and lives in London, England. North Carolina is the home of our daughter, son-in-law and our two granddaughters. We enjoy working with real-estate, traveling, hunting and fishing.

Deborah Ann was purchased with the intent to update and re-sale. But within a few days, we fell in love with the location and decided to keep it for ourselves and intermittently share it with others. Thanks to those that utilize VRBO, Homeaway, Rojas Fishing Charters and other locals, it has become a 'home away from home' for us and others.

    Week nights are defined as Monday through Thursday at $175.00 per night; Weekend rates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at $200.00 per night. Full week rental is Sunday through Friday night at $1,100.00 per week or any six night period; Monthly rental is at $4,500.00. A $100.00 cleaning fee is applied to the rental rate There are no taxes or other hidden fees..

    A deposit in the amount of $100.00 is required at the time the vacation home is booked and will go toward the overall rental amount of the home; balance is due 15 days prior to arrival; We accept personal checks, electronic check, Visa, Master Card or Discovery for your convenience.
  • If there is a storm or hurricane,refunds will be given when the state or local authorities order mandatory evacuations in a 'Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning area' and/or a 'mandatory evacuation order has been given for the Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning' area of residence of a vacationing guest. The day that the authorities order a mandatory evacuation order in a 'Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning,' area, we will refund any unused portion of rent from a guest currently registered; any unused portion of rent from a guest that is scheduled to arrive, and wants to shorten the stay, to come in after the Hurricane Warning is lifted; and any advance booking fees collected or deposited for a reservation. The vacationing guest also has the option to re-book the home for a later time frame without the need for a refund. Refunds will be issued within 2-4 weeks.

What a perfect place to relax after a day of fishing. The weather was perfect the screened in porch was a perfect place to start and end your day. We didn't do any cooking but everything was there for you if you decided that was what you wanted to do even the grill for a cookout. Such a quiet place I thought we were the only people there besides the neighbors dogs I saw. You will not be disappointed.

Experienced Southern Louisiana hospitality at its finest. Everything from tours of the swamp to fine dining and historical points of interest are but minutes away eventhough this is not considered a resort area, Accomodations are 5 STAR. The Cagles are the kindest and most considerate hosts I have had the pleasure of meeting. We will, without a doubt, be returning.

Wonderful rental home

Last year we (2 adults and 4 children aged 1 to 10) made a wonderful 3-month trip across the US, from Miami to San Francisco by car and then to New York by airplane before flying back home to Sweden.

During the trip we rented 13 different properties of which this is one and I would say we got quite experienced when it comes to evaluating various aspects of vacation properties and property managers/owners.

In brief, this Barataria vacation house is really great. It was clean, nice, tidy and it was a true please meeting Neil. Thank you for your generosity! There are many more good things to say about the property and you can read it all in the other reviews.

We would definitely recommend it to others and we would love to stay here again!

Home away from home

Wow - It was just like we returned home. It was as if the Owners had stepped out and we stepped in. All the appointments added to that feeling. Everything was as described - and meticulously clean. The kitchen pantry was stocked with more than just the essentials. The Wi-Fi worked perfect. Neil, the owner, takes great pride in his house and it shows. He communicated with us several times prior to our arrival to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. The directions were spot on - he even gave directions for the local grocery store and made a couple of suggestions of things we might want to get. It was nice and quiet. So nice and relaxing.
I would not only HIGHLY recommend staying here - we look forward to the next time we get down to NO so we can once again enjoy this home.

We arrived late, after 11pm, due some travel delays. Neil had texted us to make sure we got there okay. We found the house very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt quite secure.

During our stay we regularly traveled to New Orleans, which was about 50 minutes or so away. There is a Piggly Wiggly market about 10 minutes away that has all that is needed. If you are interested in some local seafood to enjoy or cook at the house we suggest Higgins Seafood located about a hundred yards past the Piggly Wiggly. We were quite pleased with the Crawfish from Higgins we we boiled with supplies Neil ensures are available at the house.

This was a very pleasant stay and one we would do again.
