69 Thorndike is a newly furnished, contemporary 3-room apartment located in historic East Cambridge, Massachusetts, within blocks of 2 subway stops, numerous bus routes, major shopping, the Charles River, and Kendall Square, including: MIT and major technology and pharmaceutical companies such as Google, Microsoft, Genzyme and Forrester Research.

69 Thorndike is just across the Charles River from historic Beacon Hill, the Boston Common, Boston Public Gardens, Newbury Street shopping, and the TD Bank North Boston Garden sports and entertainment arena. Harvard, Central and Inman Squares in Cambridge are within minutes by car, and also convenient by bus or train.

All the amenities of home: This unit offers all the amenities of home: a full, newly re-furbished kitchen with stainless appliances, garbage disposal, washer and dryer; a large bedroom (queen size bed) with new contemporary bathroom; and a study/den with desk, sofa (converts to sleeper suitable for child or small adult), chair and 32' flat screen TV. There is wireless internet connection throughout the apartment, plus off-street parking. This unit overlooks a beautiful garden and is air conditioned.

The apartment is on the second floor of a historic Greek Revival home in East Cambridge. We are just blocks away from some of the best restaurants in the Boston area, including Hungry Mother, East Coast Grille, the Blue Room, and Dante's to name a few. Shopping at the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall is just three blocks down the street.There are several nearby fitness facilities open to the public including Fitcorp, Boston Sports Club, Equilibrium, Cambridge Athletic Club and Gold's Gym.

Great choice over 5 star hotels

I stayed at 69 Thorndike for two weeks in April. The booking process and exchange of emails with Paul was swift and trouble free.
I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw the place that it actually looked better than the pictures. The place is much larger than what is shown in the pictures. It is clean, well ventilated and well lit with natural light. It is neatly decorated and has all the necessary equipment- cooking stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, washing machine, dryer, pots and pans etc.
What I liked the most is large windows on the East side. If you like to enjoy the morning Sun, then this is the place. It was very comfortable, peaceful and quiet, and I could relax after a long day.
As other reviews have mentioned, both Paul and Lynne are wonderful persons, and I enjoyed meeting them and exchanging ideas. They are helpful, polite and gracious. Also, Paul helped me with my extremely heavy bags.
Overall, I am glad that decided to stay at 69 Thorndike over other 5 star hotels in the area. Thank you Paul and Lynne!

Great Place to stay when in Boston

This was our first visit to Boston and we were extremely happy with these accommodations. We highly recommend staying at 69 Thorndike over a hotel anytime. While the pictures are accurate they do not fully represent the charm and location of this apartment. My wife and I stayed with our 14 year old son and while I wouldn't recommend this apartment for more kids than one, it was perfect for our needs. It offers separation from our teen and gave our son his own little 'getaway' while giving us the privacy we like. We found the location central to many interesting places within walking distance and an easy walk to the T.

We tend to be private people and while Paul and his wife are more than accommodating and helpful, they are not intrusive in a manner that would be annoying if you tend to be the quiet type. It is also nice to know they are there for any help with the apartment, should a need arise.

We fully enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return to this apartment on another visit. The transaction through Home Away also was flawless.

Just right

We truly felt at home during our extended stay while visiting family in the area. The apartment is attractive, private and comfortable. Paul is a warm and concerned host. He responded immediately to any minor problems.
The neighborhood is varied, interesting and convenient. We couldn't have found a better place. We would have stayed even longer and we hope to arrange another visit sometime. Our thanks for the hospitality and the lovely apartment.

Perfect

I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay for my holiday visit with my daughter, The apartment is cozy, clean, well maintained, and nicely decorated. I'm sure the garden would be wonderful in the Spring and hope to see it in the future. Paul and Lynne were welcoming, warm, and helpful. The location is very close to the Galleria mall, just three easy blocks. Also, just three blocks to the green line into Boston. It is just one nice walking mile for the grocery with the discount card provided with your keys. Also, a easy one mile walk to the cinema at Kendall Square. Cable and wi-fi worked great. As I said just perfect. Will stay again for my next visit.
