About Owner

I'm Parisian working in the finance industry and have being living in this city for about 20 years.

I've spent the other part of my life living abroad, travelling worldwide for business or entertainment. Throughout my extensive traveller experience on all the continents, I had the opportunity to stay in some of the most renowned and exclusive hotels and places in the world, from the unique Atacama Desert resort in Chile, to fashionable and privileged Mayfair addresses or opulent maharadja castle in Radjastan.

When refurbishing this recently acquired apartment our goal was to make this place which benefited from a first class location on the Ile Saint Louis, a 5-star-hotel-suite like flat.

Decorated and furnished with personal items, mixing French antic with souvenir de voyages you will find here cosiness of a flat and functionality of a hotel suite.

Owner purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Owner chose 4th Arrondissement Pompidou Le Marais

I've been living in Paris for some 20 years and Ile Saint Louis is really the essence of Paris to me.

I've been looking for years for an exclusive property in the centre of Paris without suffering from the trouble of a megapolis. I found it...

The isle is a retreat from the stress and motion of the city. In addition to its exclusive setting in Paris the Ile Saint Louis offers peaceful and romantic tree-shaded quays accessed by stairway and, of course, the views on the city. This attests to the fact that, despite its development, the island has not lost its original function as a place for people to gather and relax in company with the Seine.

My wife and I celebrated a special occasion with 2 weeks in Paris. We have visited Paris a number of times, each time selecting a different part of the city to really get to know Paris. Ile St Louis is arguably the best location in Paris to call home. Nearly everything is within walking distance. We would set out each day with a particular destination and then explore the neighborhoods in the area. Many times we discovered something new to us which made the journeys that much more exciting. The island and the surrounding area has everything one could want, in terms of street markets, great restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, and on and on, and oh yes the Berthillon ice cream.

The apartment was wonderful. Everything was very comfortable, and the views of the Seine and North of Paris are fabulous. Even though the apartment has been redecorated with a modern look, the doors into the bedroom and the exposed wood-beamed ceiling are a reminder you are in a centuries old building. The kitchen unit is a very ingenious use of space. We are not coffee drinkers, which is kind of shame because the coffee maker looked intriguing. Everything is provided right down to any toiletries that we might have forgotten. Pierre provides a detailed city guide that was very helpful, and working with Penelope and Guillaume upon arrival and during our stay was a delight.

We think so highly of this apartment and the location, that it will be hard not choose this apartment again on our next visit.

A breathtaking Delight!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is even better than any of the reviews to date. The views of the Seine are awesome whether it is in the morning with coffee or in the evening with wine and cheese. The apartment was big enough for the 2 of us and centrally located to transportation, points of interest, and a host of lovely cafe's. There are so many good restaurants on the I'llof St. Louis and we are GF so not easy to work with us. Le Tastevin was our favorite definitely recommend a reservation. The apartment was very well maintained, clean with very modern appliances. The coffee maker with the coffee beans were great. The owner Pierre was wonderful the epitome of customer service, and guided us through the process for rental, arranged for transportation both to and from the airport. Also recommended GF markets to help us out as did Penelope. We were greeted on time as well as meeting with Penelope at the apartment who was very accessible to us and answered all questions this was our first time in Paris and we were celebrating our 25th anniversary so all of this together was a great package, an awesome experience and I would highly recommend renting this apartment- we will when we return to Paris again! Also has a lift which was great since the best views are from the 5th floor I wanted to add that yes the comments were correct about the shower and the wet floor-but we traveled throughout France and found this to be common everywhere we stayed! We thought the security deposit was high but no different than other rentals. The security in full was refunded to our account within 72 hours. if you are planning a vacation of a lifetime to Paris this is the apartment you want to rent and Pierre and Penelope are the people to make it happen. Great accommodation

  • 5 of 5

You can't beat the location of Ile Saint-Louis in Paris, but there were many other things that made this rental stand out. First, the communication with the owner, Pierre, was excellent, both before and during our stay. Any e-mail was responded to quickly and with a wealth of good information. (He sends a PDF of his city guide along immediately to help plan your trip.) Greatly helpful too at the apartment were a number of customized guides, including one on how to operate the appliances (very useful if, like us, you're coming from North America.) And there were touches in the apartment that made you feel you were being welcomed as a guest, not a renter: a bottle of wine and water upon arrival, several staple items in the kitchen, anything you might need but may have forgotten for personal grooming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here and hope to again in the future.

Terrific Place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 10 day stay at Pierre's home right on the Seine. It is central to everything, a quick walk to subway stops and to a great stroll along the river or through the quaint neighborhood. The apartment is well equipped, clean, with up to date appliances and fresh air flowing through from it's large windows that open onto the Seine. The building is safe and very unique in character. Pierre does a great job in providing staff to introduce you to the place and who are on call if needed. At additional cost he also can provide a car service to get you to and from the airport, which we found very helpful. He gives his guests excellent materials on what to see and do in Paris -- all sent electronically before time and available in hard copy in the home -- and all very accurate and honest. He also provides instructions on all the appliances in the place which are in excellent condition. We really loved our stay and highly recommend Pierre's place to others.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful apartment. Everything about our visit was perfect, but above all your apartment was exceptional. It is a perfect location, with an absolute gorgeous view and magnificently appointed. We typically do not stay at the same place twice because we like new experiences, but when we stay in Paris we will always stay was that great. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you. Chan was outstanding in arranging our travel accommodations. Merci beaucoup.

Lovely apartment

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we liked out stay at this apartment. The views of the Seine are sensational and the apartment is exactly as described. Brilliant and convenient location. Whilst it's smaller than others we've stayed in there are lots of well thought out spaces to put things, and it's well equipped.

The ony real negative is that we both thought the toilet was far too narrow and small, as a room - literally smaller than many aircraft bathrooms. We also encountered some noise from neighbours, but that happens in many apartments.

Owner's Response: Rental properties are all different one from the others, from very large to tiny, boasting a wide range of facilities and offering diverse locations. The choice is yours depending on your wishes and budget. Only similar products i.e. location, size, facilities, service and price can be compared. This apartment is as described i.e. 45sqm prime location facing the Seine river with one living area incl open kitchen, one bedroom plus en-suite bathroom and toilets. When refurbished the place, the architect’s choice was to maximize living areas and to offer state-of-the-art facilities in a pre-defined 17th century space. This ended with a modern apartment featuring high-end decoration and top-quality equipment: built-in bean-to-the-cup espresso coffee machine, dish-washer, washing-drying machine, electric blinds, grill-microwave oven, large walk-in shower and plenty of storage to name but a few. Toilets’ size fits the size of the apartment and if not huge, generally speaking guests seemed quite happy with them… if we can say so. Regarding noise from neighbors, this might happen in modern cities since you’re not alone by definition. All in all we do our best to provide first class service to our guests in spot less and permanently cared property. This also include decoration and furniture which have been carefully selected. We pay special attention to maintain this place to the highest standard and condition since we expect our guest to be 100% satisfied. Guests’ reviews over the last 3 years rating the place and service provided "5 starts" speak by themselves.

The Île Saint-Louis is one of two natural islands in the Seine river (the other natural island is Île de la Cité). The island is connected to the rest of Paris by bridges to both banks of the river and by the Pont Saint Louis to the Île de la Cité.

The Ile Saint Louis has become a highly residential area and a privileged destination and those looking for a romantic visit or who are impassioned about history looking for a Paris that is both elegant and authentic.

Ile Saint Louis will appeal to those who like more of a small-town feel, who appreciate historic neighborhoods and old towns, fine meals at a sidewalk café and guests tourists who prefer to live like locals, Often considered the most romantic part of Paris, the peaceful Ile St-Louis is prime strolling territory.

The flat is a three minute walk from Notre-Dame, a five minute walk from the famous Marais area and ten minute walk from Place des Vosges. Saint Germain, its art galeries and fashion shop are only 15 min walk
