This property is a small cottage retreat near the Monterey/PG area. It’s easily accessible to all locations on the Peninsula.
This is a private stand alone cottage in the back of the property. In the Living area there’s a queen bed, new couch, reading chair and TV. It all fits perfectly in the space. Also there’s a small kitchen with a stovetop, refrigerator and microwave. We encourage light cooking. Coffee pot and grinder are provided with decaf and reg. coffee beans from TJ’s.
The interior of the cottage is made of old redwood bat and board. It’s decorated and painted tastefully. It was built in the 1940’s. It has lots of windows and staying there is very inspiring and peaceful. We’ve been told the cottage has a history of John Steinbeck visiting the property so as you can tell it’s not new construction. Please note if you need new “Its not”. But we feel it’s charming and are always in the process of improving it. We have recently installed new carpeting in the main room along with a beautiful couch and a flat screen TV. We have recently added Netflix’s.
The bed is very comfortable, firm but with a soft topper. The sheets are 100% cotton as are the towels. Lots of cute dishes, pans, and a teapot with variety of new teas are provided.
In the cottage there’s an adorable fireplace with a Buck Stove insert so on cold nights you can have a fire. In case you don’t want to deal with a fireplace there’s a very efficient wall heater.
The bathroom was updated a few yrs ago with a new smaller Jacuzzi bath tub .
There’s also a heater in the bathroom. I also always provide Crabtree and Evelyn products for out guests..
We are located in the sun belt of Monterey/PG. We are high on the hilltop in a quiet residential neighborhood. We’re the last to get the fog if it comes in. We are located at a dead end street so there’s little traffic. The parking is right in front of our house. We love to garden so the yard is beautiful with lots of hydrangeas, camellia’s, lots of plants and trees. Plus many beautiful garden ornaments throughout. There’s also garden path lighting as well as sensor lighting to guide guests back to the cottage.
When staying at the cottage guests come and go as they please. We have had this house for a few years and just moved to the area a year ago. We have a dog and two cats. The dog has her own part of the yard so no one really sees her. The kitties are sometimes in the yard but we don’t let them come in the cottage.
The cottage is towards the back of the property and it has a separate entrance so we really never see guests except to wave and say “Hello”. There is also an enclosed private brick patio right out in front of the cottage door with two gates. It’s an easy walk to Safeway and Trader Joe’s and there are some nice restaurants within walking distance.
It’s a short drive to major destinations on the Monterey peninsula. We offer 2 Unlimited passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which which is close by.
I have a binder of restaurants, some activites in the area and local attractions.
If you have a third party (small adult or child) there is a loft above the queen bed
which needs a ladder to get up and into. We recommend 2 people staying here but a 3rd can be added. 4 people is a little too many for this small space.
Pls contact us in advance to discuss arrangements re: loft so we can have bedding put up there. There will be an extra fee for use of the loft.
Rates can be slightly higher during major events and we prefer a two night minimum for stays. One night is possible if that’s all the time you have.
We do ask for a Reservation Form which asks for a few of your details. It helps us to double check and make sure that dates of upcoming stay are correct and that we both are in agreement on upcoming stay.
The calendar is up to date – and we always interested in bookings in advance or last minute bookings. Please feel free to contact us.
