The Gite des deux rives, house rental for 6 people with all comfort

On the edge of the Seine, in the heart of the Parc Naturel des Boucles de la Seine Normande, this wooden house, bright and contemporary, can accommodate 6 people.

Very close to Rouen, this small piece of nature in a quiet environment is a privileged place to observe the fauna and flora of the marshes.

You will enjoy extraordinary views over the sea and the mountains. You can relax in a pleasant private garden, not fenced but not overlooked of 5000 sq.m, featuring an unprotected pond shared with its inhabitants the mallards, the moorhens and the frogs.

This place is great to start hikes along the Seine or in the forest of Roumare (by foot or bike).

The house is tastefully decorated and comfortably equipped:

On the ground floor:

- large open living area between the living room with a wood-burning stove, the dining room and the kitchen

- one bedroom with 1 double bed of 140x190, bay window with view over the garden

- a bathroom with a very large shower

- one separate toilet

- a room (machine room) with washing machine, tumble dryer, storage space, wardrobe, boiler.

Upstairs:

- wooden floor throughout

- Mezzanine corridor with plenty storage space

- Separate toilet on the landing

- Bedroom with 2 single beds of 90x190 and 1 baby cot

- Bedroom with 1 bed of 160x190, a shower room (wash basin and shower), bay window opening onto the balcony to enjoy a view over the Seine and the stars at night!

Outside:

- Barbecue

- Big swing

- Wooden and paved terrace

- With garden table and chairs, sun loungers, cushions, sunshade

- Car park

Superb property in a great location

Very comfortable cottage with the river Seine literally at the bottom of the garden. It was great to find that all the things you might need such as tea, coffee, spices, salt & pepper were already there.
We had great fun watching the boats go past and were geeky enough to use the website marinetraffic.com to see when something big was about to go past - well worth it for the really big boats.
Excellent bakery just up the road in Saint Martin de Boscherville and easy access to many interesting places using the ferries (bacs) across the Seine. We would also recommend driving to Le Grand Quevilly and using the tram/metro to get into the centre of Rouen as it is less stressful than driving into Rouen.
Rouen, Jumieges, Duclair and the Chateau Gaillard at Les Andelys are well worth a visit as are the locks at Amfreville. Chartres is about two hours drive, but worth it for the stained glass alone
The animal park in the foret de Roumare had baby wild boar and a lovely walk and is only ten minutes from the gite.
We really enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending it as the best place possible for getting to know the Seine valley.

Perfect for our family!

This property fully met and exceeded all expectations! The house is immaculately cared for and the space is perfect for our family of four, and can easily handle more. Everything you could possibly need is provided - linens are of exceptional quality. The location of the house is ideal as it is quite central when exploring the Normandy region and Paris given the excellent highways and efficient train system in Rouen. We were easily able to explore all of the military history sites across Normandy and Northern France, enjoy beach days, Paris, Rouen, and many days watching the boats go by on the Seine. The property is quiet and secluded yet close to the bustling city of Rouen. We enjoyed the fruit trees, local markets and towns, and the amazing river walks as well.
Emmanuel and Corrine were excellent to deal with, prompt, and incredibly thoughtful. We are definitely looking at returning to this property for family holidays in the future and would love to recommend it to others.

What to do in Quevillon

I do not have a lot of original information to add about the house, since other reviewers have said it all. However, here are a few tips when visiting the Quevillon area:
- Grocery stores are not open on Monday. None of them! Plan accordingly. There may be a pizza van in town on those days (check with Emmanuel and Corinne).
- Rouen is a great place for a day trip or two. Lots of shops. Lots of history.
- St Martin de Boucherville is close by. The drive is easy. There is a small bakery on the right as you enter town. They are open from 7AM in the morning, until 1 or 2. Then they close up for the day and are open again from 4-5 or 4-6. Not quite sure. In France, hours are can change on a whim, so just plan accordingly.
- The curried chicken crepes at the little restaurant in town are to die for. Yum!
- The butcher in St. Martin (de Boucherville) has all natural meats. He’s open for an hour in the morning around 9, and then again from 4PM for an hour or two. The meat is REAL. Not plumped with all sorts of dyes, water (for volume), etc., You will never taste chicken so good unless you go out in the backyard and butcher it yourself. Seriously, do not hesitate to pick up meat here, take it back to the house, and cook.
- We picked up produce twice at the
- Do not miss out on the local forest trails. They are quiet, and beautiful. We had several wonderful bike rides through them.
- Caen and the Normandy beaches are an easy day trip. We learned you are better off following signs vs. GPS’s. You can easily spend a day in the Peace Museum and another day in Trouville (just two options of many.. ). Don’t miss Utah Beach or the others if you are a history buff.
- When driving locally, be sure to take one of the free ferries across the Seine.
- If you have a few hours, the grounds of Abbaye St. George de Boucherville are beautiful. We highly recommend the audio tour.
- DuClair is a little town just up the road. There is a major grocery store, as well as an amazing bakery (on the main drag). There are also quite a few little shops and a butcher worth visiting.

The perfect getaway after a week in Paris

  • 5 of 5

My husband, parents, and I just spent a week at Gite des deux rives. We could not have made a better choice for rest and relaxation after a week in Paris.
When we arrived, Emmanuel and Corinne had fresh bread, a bit of local cheese, and a bottle of wine waiting for us. It was much appreciated after negotiating Paris in a rental car and driving out to the countryside.
Emmanuel and Corinne were wonderful hosts. The house has a wi-fi connection, so with a bit of help from Google Translate and lots of pantomime, we were able to communicate just fine and enjoy a few laughs in the process.
• The house is absolutely beautiful, and CLEAN. I have never stayed in a cleaner rental.
• The beds were very comfortable.
• There is a swing set outside for kids young, and not-so-young. The appliances work flawlessly.
• The grounds are pretty.
• We enjoyed watching the boats, especially the big cargo carriers, go by on the Seine.
• If we had more time (or more foresight) we would have done one of those dinner cruises.
• My mom loved the resident ducks.
• I looked forward to my morning runs along the Seine (walk through the back yard, turn right, and follow the trail for miles).
• There is a downstairs bedroom that is perfect if anyone in your group has mobility issues. The stairs leading upstairs to the master are a bit narrow because they go around a corner

I do not have a lot of original information to add about the house, since other reviewers have said it all.

I don't have quite enough space to finish the reveiw... so please follow on to the next review for cool things to do when you stay in Corinne and Emmanuel's gite.

Perfect House for all

The house has an amazing location away from it all yet a short ride to bakery and supermarket by car. It is far more beautiful than the pictures show and it is equipped to the last bit of everything you need to feel at home. We stayed there with our children that enjoyed the yard and the toys that they foundin their bedroom. The house looked like we were the first visitors there - so clean, tidy and fully equipped. The owners - Emmanuel and Corrine are very nice and friendly people and they made sure we are comfortable all along.

The house is at the heart of the Normandy Seine loops nature park, on the edge of the Seine at Quevillon, locality of Le Ronceray. Very close to Rouen, this small piece of nature in a quiet environment is a privileged place to observe the fauna and flora of the marshes. On site, you will enjoy a pond with ducks, mallards and frogs.

Ideally located, the Gite des deux rives is on the tourist circuit of the Route des Abbayes (Saint-Georges de Boscherville Abbey 3 km away, Jumièges Abbey 20 km away), the fruit and thatched cottages trail.

The Roman Normandy Saint-Georges de Boscherville Abbey is a tourist site that offers guided tours to discover its abbey church, its monastic building and gardens 'à la française'. Concerts and singing events are regularly organised.

Numerous hiking trails for all levels are signposted in the region.

The forest of Roumare 3 km away will delight adults and children alike. There, you can find an animal park. You will appreciate the numerous paths and forest roads for outings on foot or by bike with the whole family (no car).

For adventurers, you will find a tree climbing park at Saint-Martin-de-Boscherville 5 km away.

In Jumieges, there is a leisure centre which offers a pool for swimming and sporting activities (climbing wall, golf course, canoeing...).

Close to La Bouille, you can practise speleology in the Caumont caves.

Rouen is 12 km away, the city with the 100 bell towers: this is a city of art and history with its numerous museums (Flaubert Museum, museum of Fine Arts, Musee de la Ceramique, “Muséum”...), its medieval architecture (timber-framed houses), the Gros-Horloge (Big Clock tower), its cathedral and churches... but also a cinema, bowling alley and shops.

Many getaways in the region:

- The Cote d'Albatre (Dieppe, Etretat, Fecamp)

- Honfleur

- The landing beaches

- Giverny and Monet gardens

- and many others to discover.

To visit the capital, Paris is 120 km away (motorway).

The Normandy cuisine deserves to be tasted. Have you heard of the 'caneton à la rouennaise'?

You will have a vast choice of good gastronomic restaurants. We will share good addresses and deals with you.

Books and brochures are available for you during your stay in order to help you discover this wonderful region.
