About Graham and Jenny Venters
Jenny and I have both been in the Licenced trade and I am a quaified Chef. We are both retired now and live next door to the cottage in the main house, so we are usually available to advise or assist whenever needed. However we will never be a nuisance to you and only seek to enhance you holiday experience.
Graham and Jenny Venters purchased this cottage in 2009
Why Graham and Jenny Venters chose Calheta
We bought the main house in 2009, it was in a very bad state but as soon as we saw it we just fell in love with it and so we renovated it and then we did the cottage 3 years later in early 2012. It was a derilict 'Cow House' and we did the reconstruction sympathetically to the original style and in a manner that we would be happy to stay in it ourselves, Hence the cottage is very well equipped to a high standard and is very comfortable. We chose to live in this area as it is very quiet and the views are out of this world. The house and cottage are a little off the beaten track and so you will experience the 'Real' Madeira as against the Tourist images usually offered. Also, being at 400 mtrs altitude it does not get too hot in Summer or too Cold in Winter.
What makes this cottage unique
We offer a range of additional services with the cottage ranging from an evening meal service, boat trips for big game or bottom fishing, dolphin watching or just a gentle cruise along the coastline and airport transfers.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Many thanks Jenny and Graham for a lovely week in your beautiful cottage. The perfect way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. You have both been so kind, generous and helpful - it has been more like visiting friends than staying with people we have never met before.
What a beautiful island!! for first time visitors we have both been amazed by it's beauty. The walks up at Rabacal are just like being on the North Yorkshire Moors - except the heather is 6 times higher!! We needed walking boots and kagouls up there yesterday morning - but then it was flip flops and shorts down at Calheta beach in the afternoon - fantastic!!!!
We have been very comfortable here and had a lovely relaxing time. Thank you for the home made/grown produce as well - especially the creme caramel - delicious!
We will be recomending you to others and maybe one day we will get back too.
