Ericeira is World Surfing Reserve, a surfers dream. It is the venue for one of the world surfing championships. As a result there are many surfing schools so many ardent fans of the sport swarm in to the village to enjoy the waves. Many of the beaches are dwarfed by majestic cliffs, a hikers paradise.
There are many outlying villages surrounding Ericeira, some with strong rural traditions and but a cycle ride away.
Ericeira is located only 40 km from the international airport of Lisbon and takes a mere 35 minutes door to door.
