We have spent one week in this lovely house in Paraty. The house exceeded all our expectations. It was spacious. Clean. Well kitted out. Nicely furnished. And to our delight there was a washing machine (we have two small kids...). There are of course stairs in the house so you need to keep an eye on your little ones. Ours loved the house and sitting outside in the sink during hot evenings!
There was mosquito netted doors more or less everywhere so we had no problems with mozzies when sleeping. There were fans enough to have one in every bedroom, so despite the very very very hot weather we did not suffer too badly. There was one electrical blackout in the neighbourhood due to severe weather but the house had emergency lamps all charged up which worked perfectly so it caused us no unnecessary problems at all. Luckily the electrical wires were fixed the next day so our food in the fridge were never spoilt! Be prepared for blackouts when visiting Brazil, a common occurrence as far as I understand...
A trip to Tiradente is recommended, although when coming from the north there was no sign for the take-off for it so a bit tricky to find! :-)
Paraty in itself is a sweet town to visit, but be aware if you need a buggy or wheelchair etc, very very very wobbly cobblestones and tricky to maneuver. But well worth the work if you have the stamina!
All in all we are very happy with our stay in Paraty. Prior to the trip the owners happily answered any questions we had and were very accomodating. We would love to go back! And I would happily recommend the house to anyone. Not sure about any of the activities in the area, we were hapy to just lazy about and enjoyed doing nothing but pool and beach! And a visit to a close by cachaca factory. (Nice little visit for the adults and kids, they have ostriches!)
