Puerto del Carmen is the busiest and principal resort on the island and Lanzarote's oldest and largest resort, where shops, bars and restaurants line 5km of coastal road - it's the focal point for energetic nightlife together with being a lively and busy holiday scene during the day. Lots of laid back bars line the promenade - Avenida de las Playas (the beach avenue). This road is the main centre of activity in the resort, and restaurants, hotels, shops, sports bars and fast food centres line this promenade.
One side of Avenida de las Playas is a range of open-fronted eateries, bars and shops and on the other side is a delightful flower-decked promenade alongside landscaped gardens and cycle track and a vast beach of golden sand.
Also known as “the Strip” it is great for the young visitors and several night clubs and countless bars and casino make an amazing night out. There's more of a bar feel to the nightlife but there's plenty of live music and clubs on offer. Avenida de las Playas becomes Lanzarote's busiest entertainment district with the focal point being Centro Atlantico which is located halfway along the avenue and has something for all tastes and budgets ranging from pubs and cocktail bars to cabaret venues, and all-night dance clubs.
The main shops along the Avenida de las Playas sell a variety of craft goods, souvenirs, beachwear, sports goods, perfumes, fashions and top-brand electrical and photographic goods at cut prices. There are similar boutiques in the old town and some are worth looking at for attractive, unusual summer clothes.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We are in Holland again, after a great week in Puerto del Carmen. We loved the apartment; especially the big balcony with sea view. It was very clean and we got new towels twice; very good service. Also the swimming pool was nice; with enough sunbeds. It was quiet; exactly what we wanted.
We had dinner at Mario's (two times) as you suggested and we enjoyed it. We also eat fresh fish at Mardeleva, as you advised; it was very good. And of course we walked to Puerto de Calero; a nice walk!
We hired a car for 2 days; we explored the island in the north and also went to the Papagayo beaches.
So we had a very good time and we enjoyed our stay at your apartment very much!
