Monte d'Avô is situated just outside the centre of Cercal de Alentejo, where you'll find everything you need, supermarket, banks, postoffice, restaurants and coffeebars with lovely terraces, kiosk for your newspaper and or tabaco, pharmacy, playpark for children and various shops.
Nearby at about 10km the famous Porto Covo, with its lovely beaches and nice centre with seaview and lots of nice restaurants and terraces. Porto Covo got famous because of a song about it.
Also nearby the village Vila Nova de Milfontes with breathtaking views, and again lots of restaurants and shops.
A bit further you'll find the town Odemira, definitely worth a visit! Odemira lies at about 24km
At about 36km you'll find themepark Badoca Park, a great day out for the whole family! Visit wild life animals, such as giraffes, monkees, birds of prey etc and watch them as you drive by in either your own car or in a small train. Also funrides and shows. Definitely a must go there!
Sines is the harbour town, that's where you can buy the best fish and shellfish!
Grandola is a bit further away, at 68km, it has a very large supermarket Continente, and a trainstation with a direct and fast connection with the centre of Lisbon.
More to the interior of the country you will find Ourique, with historical buildings and a watch tower, still remaining from the city walls. Here you will also find a a very large supermarket. At 46km
Lagos is also a good days out. Visit the Algarve, wander around at the marine of Lagos. The towncentre of Lagos is wunderful restored, so many restaurants with lovely terraces that you won't know which one to pick! At about 65km from Cercal.
