Combloux Chalet Rental Photos and Description

6 Bedrooms, 4 Bath/shower rooms, 4 separate WCs, Sleeps 14

Chalet La Ribambelle, 3 minutes by car from the ski slopes and with a shuttle bus at the end of the road, is a beautiful traditional chalet set above the alpine village of Combloux, with spectacular views of the Mont Blanc and its mountain range. It has been used as a family holiday home ever since it was built approximately 50 years ago by our parents. It is set at the end of a quiet lane, with rolling fields below and very few other houses around, providing a wonderfully tranquil setting with plenty of open space. The chalet is on three levels, with the main living accommodation on the middle level. The house sleeps 14 people in six bedrooms with 4 bath or shower rooms, very spacious living areas and wonderful views from most windows.

Highly recommended

We spent a very enjoyable week at La Rimambelle. The chalet is in a very quiet position above Combloux, well away from any busy roads. It has the most extraordinary views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains - better than the views from Chamonix in most ways because the extra distance lends some perspective. Not that this makes Mont Blanc look any smaller!

The chalet itself is very comfortable: plenty of space for sitting and eating, comfortable beds, showers that work well, and the kitchen and laundry are very well equipped. There is an attractive decking area outside the sitting room with lots of room for sittting, eating, gazing at the mountains and listening to the cow-bells carrying up from the field well below. The chalet feels like a home rather than an anonymous rental place.

Stunning in every respect!

  • 5 of 5
The earlier reviews say it all and we definitely give this chalet 5 of 5. This was our second visit to the chalet. We arrived on our first visit after dark with no idea of what to expect. Opening the shutters next morning Mont Blanc greeted us in all her glory. This set the scene for the rest of the week. Changing moods and changing colours in the clear crisp atmosphere she is a sight to behold.
The surrounding area encompassing Combloux, Megeve and Chamonix is a magical part of the world offering many activities all year round. There are many activities and we enjoyed walks, cafes, a trip through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Aosta in Italy, a trip in the Aiguille du Midi cable car (not to be missed), shopping and lots more.
The chalet itself is very spacious and caters well for groups. We were a party of 11 on our fist visit and 6 on our most recent. It is very comfortable, very warm and well maintained. The support team are great and ensure a real holiday for guests.
We cannot recommend this chalet highly enough at any time of the year.

Great property in fabulous position and views

  • 5 of 5
We joined friends at this property for six nights in September when returning from a tour of the Italian lakes.

The property is at the end of a lane and was easy to find using the instructions provided by the owner. There is ample parking on a level site and it was easy to unload the luggage. It is well equipped and has fabulous views towards Mont Blanc from all the common areas and four of the six bedrooms. The property is very clean and well maintained, comfortable, homely and well equipped with free wi-fi and all the electrical gadgets described on the website. It was a very peaceful location just the sound of bells from cows grazing in the field below the property.

There were good walks from the property which is not too far from the village and the small town of Megeve is a short drive away. A great place for touring, relaxing and meeting up with friends and family.

It's as great as it looks in the photos. We would certainly recommend a stay here.

La Rimambelle - a high quality aid to relaxation!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for three nights. Not being skiers, La Rimambelle was a late Summer opportunity to walk, see some mountains, eat and drink and relax in the company of friends (we were nine in all). We were not disappointed: the views of Mont Blanc were spectacular and constantly changing with the weather, which was sunny for the most part. Excursions to Megeve, and further down the Val d'Arly, also yielded excellent viewing and restaurant eating. Going the other way, we discovered the unusual church of Notre-Dame de Toute Grace du Plateau d'Assy, with artwork by Braque, Chagall, Bonnard and others, as startling for where it is as for what it is. All this and some easy walking and shopping to work up our appetites made this a real break.

La Rimambelle itself is a high quality aid to relaxation. Plenty of space for eating, sleeping and talking. We set up a table for nine on the veranda to enjoy breakfasts in the unseasonable warmth of the sun and - did I mention this? - the fantastic views of Mont Blanc. A modern and well-equipped kitchen meant that meals were easily and quickly organised, leaving us plenty of time to enjoy the food and play games when the day was done. The local management team are friendly and efficient. And the dawn chorus of cowbells never quite lost its charm.

We'd definitely go back again, and strongly recommend it to others.

Picture postcard views of Mont Blanc

  • 5 of 5
La Ribambelle lives up to all the descriptions and photos and more so. It must be marvellous in the winter and was glorious in late Sept/early October with lots of lovely nearby walks and plenty of places to visit and things to do. The view from every window is breathtaking, accompanied by a symphony of bells from the cows grazing half a mile below, which make it really magical. The chalet is an extremely comfortable home - lovely living room, well equipped kitchen and beds are very comfortable too. It's a great place to stay with friends and accommodates numbers without ever feeling squashed. Can't wait to return!

LOCATION . Combloux is one hour from Geneva Airport and 8 hours drive from Calais by motorway. A free shuttle bus runs winter and summer from the end of the road to the ski slopes and to the village. Combloux, described by Victor Hugo as 'the pearl of the Mont Blanc range', has a small supermarket and a range of other shops and restaurants, and is just a few minutes’ drive from the house, which in turn is just a two minute drive from the ski slopes in winter – or great walking in summer. The village has a Wednesday market and a tourist office which co-ordinates lots of local activities for all ages. There is a larger supermarket within a 10 minute drive, and the valley town of Sallanches, with hypermarkets and shopping outlets, is approx. 20 minutes’ drive.

CHALET. La Ribambelle is a spacious family chalet with unbroken views of snow-capped Mont Blanc and its mountain range .

SKIING.Combloux as a ski resort has a good network of slopes with altitude 1200m – 1900m, and is also connected to some of the Megeve slopes and La Giettaz. The resort offers a good range of skiing , downhill and crosscountry, for beginners to advanced and has an excellent , friendly ski school and a creche for young children. Across the valley, 5 minutes away, the modernised telecabine of La Princesse sweeps you to the slopes of Ste Gervais, Mont Arbois and Les Contamines. At the chalet we have a large heated area to store and dry your ski gear, though you can hire lockers next to the slopes at Combloux

GOLF. The Golf Club of Megeve is only 15 minutes away. A club which holds many tournaments and has the most beautiful mountain views, to make even a bad round of golf a pleasure. It has a very comfortable bar and a good restaurant. There are three other excellent courses within a 45 minute drive: Chamonix, Giez and Esery.

WALKING. A superb centre for walking in summer and winter. You can start your walk from the chalet . The whole region is ideal for walking and the walks are well marked. In the beautiful clean alpine air, with wonderful views and unspoilt countryside , it is a walker's paradise. Some lifts function in summer for both walkers and mountain bike enthusiasts.Restaurants and bars are to be found on some of the paths.

ACTIVITIES. Swimming. In summer you can swim in the bio-lake in the village, unique in its natural water cleansing system, with lovely lake-side grassy areas to sun-bathe, and adjacent restaurant and beauty centre offering a range of treatments. The Montenvers rack and pinion railway takes you to the Glacier, the Mer de Glace, where you can walk inside the glacier in a cut out tunnel with ice sculptures.Unforgettable.

Annecy, a beautiful medieval town, with lovely shops,a huge lake and a huge choice of restaurants is well worth a visit and is 1 hour away either across a mountain pass or by motorway.

Le Fayet/St Gervais. (20 mins) The tramway de Mont Blanc takes you for an hours trip up the mountainside .

From the main line station a narrow guage railway, the Mont Blanc Express, takes a 90min trip through the mountains and glaciers to Martigny in Switzerland, giving the most remarkable views. The Fondation Gianadda art gallery in Martigny has a remarkable collection of masters and a fascinating collection of very early motor cars in the basement with an eclectic array of sculptures in the extensive gardens. It features many special exhibitions.
