Lorgues Villa Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, sleeps 8. 2 Doubles, 2 twin bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.

The villa is situated off a quiet country lane, 20 minutes walk from the centre of Lorgues, which has numerous restaurants, 2 supermarkets, many other small shops and a weekly market. This 4-bedroomed villa (sleeps 8) is situated in peaceful terraced gardens, surrounded by mature pines and oak woods.

The villa has a private 4x9m swimming pool, sun terraces, BBQs, loungers and other garden furniture. The owner is not onsite and the hirers will have sole use of the villa, gardens and pool.

The house has four bedrooms, a living room with TV and stereo, a dining room, a kitchen with dishwasher and a washing machine, as well as 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. The bedrooms are furnished with 2 double beds and 4 single beds. There is also a double bed settee in the lounge. The spacious ground floor living room has three large French windows, all opening up to an outside patio shaded by an old oak tree. There are also French windows onto the patio in the dining room and the kitchen.

Master Bedroom with Ensuite bathroom Downstairs:

The master bedroom features an antique French Oak Double bed, dual side tables & lamps. Step out on to the patio through the double French windows (also found in the living room & Dining Room). The ensuite bathroom features a full-size stand up shower and wash basin. The downstairs toilet is on the landing right outside the master bedroom.

Lounge:

After a long day of lounging by the pool or shopping in Lorgues or Le Muy markets, unwind in front of our Flat Screen TV (setup to receive UK or French TV) or sip a glass of wine on the Patio. If you prefer to stay indoors, check your email from the comfort of one of our 2 sofas with free Wireless Internet. Children will stay entertained with a media centre containing hundred of films, UK TV shows and thousands of music tracks.

Dining Room:

Has a large Oak table with seating for 8.

Kitchen:

The kitchen has a modern Glass Ceramic hob, Electric Oven, Dishwasher, 2 fridges (in recognition of the large parties that may be staying) one with a freezer section, a Washing Machine, Toaster, Microwave Oven, Glass 'French Press' Coffee Maker, Electric Kettle, Large Tea pot (you can get English Teabags in the local Intermarche). We have ample plates and cutlery. There is also every other utensil imaginable including Oyster Opening knives, utensils for holding and extracting escargots (try the 12 packs in the freezer section of Intermarche) corkscrews and bottle openers.

All the French Windows (total 6) are south facing and open onto a large patio area outside with wooden table and chairs to seat 8 in the shade of an old oak tree. There is a charcoal Weber barbeque here.

Upstairs:

The stairs lead onto a Landing. Off the landing is:-

- another double bedroom with dual side tables and lamps

- a bathroom with a full size bath, shower attachment and a wash basin

- a toilet with a washbasin

- a bedroom with 2 single beds and another pull out bed suitable for a child (so we could actually sleep 9)

- a bedroom with 2 single beds

Outside:

Immediately outside is a large patio area and a lawn. On this patio is a large wooden table and 8 chairs for dining 'al-fresco', which is what you will probably be doing most of the time! This table is in the shade of an oak tree.

Around the side of the house there is parking space for at least 3 or 4 cars.

There are 2 separate stepped pathways up to the pool which is 9m x 4m with a minimim depth of 1.1m and a maximum depth of 2.2m. The pool is on a separate terrace at roughly 'first floor' level, which contains another large patio, a traditionally built (stone, wooden roof beams and roof tiles) poolhouse and shaded seating. There are 8 sun loungers, 8 more dining chairs and another table around the pool and poolhouse area.

The sloping gardens between the 2 main terraces are planted with lavender, rosemary, 'tree echium' and other Mediterranean plants.

From the 'pool terrace' there are steps up to another terrace, which has grass and broom.

Fantastic holiday in the lovely town of Lorgues.

My girls (17 and 12) and I had a fantastic holiday in the lovely town of Lorgues. They particularly loved the swimming pool and sun bathing; I enjoyed the peace and quiet. The villa has all the comforts of home and is in an idyllic spot, great to come back after our daily excursions. We drove to Frejus/St Raphael/St Tropez/Monaco/Cannes, making this central location unbeatable. Michael and Gail have a wealth of knowledge about the region and have provided guest information to make the best use of the area and days out.
Lorgues itself has a lot to offer with Market day, a great choice of restaurants, and the historic centre, there are also supermarkets, post office, bakeries and much more.
A brilliant, memorable holiday, we all hope to return.

The villa is in the centre of the department of the Var; Provence/Cotes D’Azur region of France. This is a beautiful area set between the Mediterranean Sea and the Gorges du Verdon and is superb for touring.

The villa is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Lorgues, which is a charming medieval village with many cafes, shops, bars and restaurants, and a vibrant weekly street market.

A lot of the ancient walls, defensive gates and other old buildings remain intact. The old narrow streets have vaulted passages, ancient stairs, and many buildings and doorways contain lovely stone carvings.

Lorgues is located in the middle of wineries and fields of olive trees. It can be accessed via the A8 Autoroute (20 km) or the SNCF train station of Les Arcs-Draguignan (12 km), Toulon Airport at 45 mn, Nice Airport at 1 h and Marseiles-Marignane airport 1 h 30 away.

There are many historic villages and famous Provencal vineyards close by. An easy drive brings you to the beaches and lively resorts at Sainte Maxime, Frejus and Saint Raphael, (both these resorts have an aquapark), Port Grimaud and Saint Tropez. There is also a scuba diving school in Saint Maxime and a Golf Course near Le Muy. There are detailed instructions at the villa on our favourite beaches with directions and parking tips/info and info on the best snorkelling beaches, best swimming beaches etc.

About 45 minutes away amidst breathtaking scenery, the Gorges du Verdon - the French Grand Canyon - and Lake St Croix, the largest lake in Provence, offer swimming, walking, sailing, white water rafting, kayaking and windsurfing.

Other local attractions include Les Arcs, Flayosc, the Abbaye du Thoronet, the waterfall at Sillans de Cascade, and the village of Chateaudouble set in stunning mountain scenery.

Cannes with the lovely La Croisette, Antibes with its old town and Aquasplash / Marineland nearby and the gorgeous seaside village of Theoule-sur-mer are less than an hours drive away.

Nice and Aix en Provence are an hour's drive; Italy and Monaco are an easy day's outing and so are the picturesque islands just off the coast from Le Lavandou or Hyeres.

Again there are detailed directions and instructions (eg places to park) on all these places, at the house; for example, the location of the fantastic public swimming platform in Monaco near the seaward side of the harbour wall, with swimming pool like steps into the sea. Great for cooling off during a hot day walking around the sites in Monte Carlo / Monaco, just remember a towel and swimming gear!

Literally across the road from the villa is the forest leading up the hill to the Saint Ferreol Hermitage site with a 13th-century chapel, ruins of a Ligurian oppidum and Roman castrum, and a lovely forest walk.

The villa is about 500 Metres from the disused railway 'Train de Pignes' that ran over 200Km from Nice to Meyrarges in the Bouches du Rhone. A lot of it is now a fantastic cycle track. There is a project underway to completely open up the track from Barjols to Fayence (the remaining major work required is to complete the section that crosses the town section of Draguignan). There are 2 adult mountain bikes at the house and lots more information on cycle routes.

There are municipal tennis courts in Lorgues less than 1 Km away from the villa.

Lorgues has 2 large supermarkets, Intermarche (nearest petrol) and Casino which are open on Sunday mornings in the summer. In the centre of Lorgues there are all the usual smaller shops (some of which open sunday mornings all year round) and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. There are markets at Aups (Wed & Sat), Lorgues (Tues) & Salernes (Sun) and a very large Sunday Provencal market at Le Muy. Draguignan (15mins drive), the capital of the Var, has Hypermarkets, a rich variety of individual shops, where you can buy clothes, handmade chocolates, pastries, and gifts. There is also a theatre, cinema, ten pin bowling. All the surrounding villages have a number of restaurants, serving primarily French cuisine. Noteable restaurants very closeby include. The Michelin starred Chez Bruno about 1.5 Km from Lorgues on road to Taradeau. Le Chrissandier and Le Table du Moulin in the centre of Lorgues and Chateau de Berne about 2km north of Lorgues.
