Our most relaxing holiday ever
Review Submitted: November 3, 2009

We had a very relaxed two week stay at Verina, We sat in the sun, read in the shade, swam in the pool and the more active among us went on bike rides. We had to practically drag ourselves away from the pool to do some sight-seeing.
Verina is well equiped and comfortable, we were fortunate enough to have two weeks of glorious weather so we lived outside from early morning until bedtime. The pool is plenty big enough for 9 people, the water temperature was cold but not cold enough to put us off, and the kids were in the pool nearly all day - everyday. One of the highlights for us was lying on the sun loungers in the evening and seeing the amazing starlit sky and spotting various constellations.
Local places that we visited were Oradour sur Glane, a sombre and poignant memorial of the tragic massacre of the village during WW2, I don't think anyone could visit and not feel moved by Oradour's history.
We spent a day at the Futuroscope Theme Park in Poitiers, (1 1/2 hrs drive) great fun for all the family and the rides were "virtual" so perfect if you're not a roller-coaster fan!
Château de La Rochefoucauld, was beautiful. They have a dressing up room where you can dress up in historical costumes - I'm not sure who had the most fun, the children or the adults! There is also a fantastic, friendly chocolatier just outside the castle.
We enjoyed our stay at Verina so much we booked for next year almost as soon as we arrived home.
