Beautiful apartment in a lovely part of Paris
We have just got back from a lovely long weekend in Paris. The apartment was absolutely as described. We arrived into Gare Du Nord and decided to walk up as the distance was not that far. It only took around 15 minutes and apart form the steps at the end was very easy. If you have too much luggage or cant walk too far I would recommend a Taxi, we never took one all weekend but I would doubt it would cost too much. There is a nearby metro but its at the bottom of the stairs!
We were met by Isabelle and her partner who showed us around and how to use everything. The apartment is a great size and very light, really clean and modern. The bedroom was a good size with a comfy bed and the shower area was nice and big with a lovely well lit mirror, tail rail and hair dryer. The kitchen had a fridge, a microwave/oven (a small oven that also microwaves), kettle, dishwasher, pots & pans and an iron. There is a TV however if you are only English speaking there are only the world news channels (bbc world etc) This isn't a problem as there is wi-fi so if you have a small laptop or mobile phone you can still watch things on-line or on the device. We only mention that as we did find we needed to chill after a long day out walking around Paris.
We found the apartment to be the perfect base for us. We walked around the local Montmartre area on the day we arrived and it was just beautiful. Lots of artists in the square painting and selling works of art. Some lovely little shops, all very tourist centred but with a lot of charm. You could easily spend a day of two wondering around the streets enjoying the views and beautiful buildings, including the church (Sacre Coeur). There is a supermarket near by (you will most likely pass it on the way there if you walk) and a bakery. We also walked everyday to Gare Du Nord using this as our base for getting the metro to various places. There are closer Metros and if you are more familiar with the system I'm sure they would be easier to use but as we had places to go outside of Paris we decided to use the same point so we could remember which way to get back. It was very easy and we felt very at home really quickly. We spent some time in the more central parts of Paris but found them to be busy and quite overwhelming at times so returning back to our little apartment in the quite part of town was great. We would highly recommend this place to our friends and are planning to come back later in the year. Well worth the money.
