Detached - three double bedrooms - sleeps 6/7/cot + additional accommodation

Pretty C18th stone cottage with private garden area, terraces and BBQ. Ideal for all the family with exclusive use of 13 metre heated swimming pool, paddling area (for small children) and a pool tower with WFI and small kitchen. Badminton & boules court, table tennis table & bicycles. Beautiful gardens and arboretum. Wildlife pond.

The drawing room has original period features - old stone sink/fire place and a door to an east facing terrace with a table and chairs. Three double bedrooms - a king sized double bed on the ground floor with adjoining walk in shower room; two upstairs bedrooms with single beds (the larger bedroom has a balcony and steps leading to the garden and pool). An additional seating area upstairs could be made available for a cot/small bed (on request). There is a bathroom/lavatory on this floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, gas oven, microwave; washing machine.

There is a one bedroom pigeonnier in grounds that could be used as additional accommodation for grandparents, friends etc.

EASY ACCESS: for persons with mobility problems

GOLF: There is a picturesque 9 hole golf course at Pillac (20 mins) and clubs can be hired there.

FISHING: Fishing lakes at Vendoire - 10 minutes by car - permits are available and tackle can be hired

TENNIS - HORSE RIDING - CANOEING: There is a free tennis court at St Martial-Viveyrol (4 mins); a riding school in Verteillac (8mins) and canoeing at Riberac(15mins).

About Helen & James Gray

We are a retired couple - James previously worked in the City (London) and Helen in a GP surgery as a psychotherapist. We have two sons and one grandson. Besides the latter, our passion is gardening and we are always seeking new ways to develop the different areas of the garden at Petites Cotes. Our chief desire is to give our guests pleasure as well as relaxation in the beautiful surroundings of Perigord Vert. We spend time in both London and France. We are members of a book, history and gardening club and attend the local English speaking church in France. We love eating out especially as there is an abundance of inexpensive restaurants in the area.

Perigord Vert is known as the most unspoiled part of the Dordogne being a paradise for country life lovers and an inspiration for artists. Verteillac is the nearest town is 8 minutes by car and buzzes all the year round. It has almost all amenities - baker, bank, bars, butcher, chemist, hairdresser, newsagent, post office, restaurants and boasts the 'best general store' in the Dordogne selling everything from groceries to furniture.There is a weekly Saturday market and the area has numerous, reasonably priced restaurants.There is a lovely sandy riverside beach at Aubeterre which is within easy reach of the domaine plus nearby fishing, horse riding, tennis, walking, canoeing, golfing, medieval towns, Romaneque churches, prehistoric caves - to name just a few! Within an hours' drive is the Dordogne Valley and the wine regions of Bergerac and Pecharmant. Bordeaux, St Emillion and Pommerol are a little further away. There is an English speaking church at Bertric Buree with weekly services

Other Activities: There is also a children's mini clock golf course and canoeing nearby. See special note

  • The accommodation is normally for six people but there is a cot in the front bedroom for a baby and an additional mattress could be provided either for the seating area (on the landing upstairs) or in one of the bedrooms. The main bedroom and shower room are on the ground floor which makes it easily accessible for persons with mobility problems. There is additional accommodation in Le Pigeonnier (to the west of the property) for family or friends as this is not usually let out during the High Season. Any additional cost for this accommodation can be negotiated directly with the owners.

Our holiday in Le Petit Maison

After nearly a year of working extremely hard, myself and my wife decided that we would like a nice break in France. We had an extremely relaxing time eating very flavoursome food, drinking lovely wine and enjoying the facilities at Le Petit Maison. There is badminton, table tennis, petanique, a swimming pool and lots of wildlife to see whilst out walking. The towns of Aubeterre, Riberac, Vertaillec and especially Brantome are well worth a visit. We highly enjoyed our stay and although our holiday was always intended to be a low key one - we definitely found that there was plenty to do and lots to see. The French people we met were extremely friendly and we had a lot of fun trying out our limited French!

When we met the owners they were very polite, very conscious of not intruding on your holiday, but actually when we got to meet them we found them to be lovely people and in actual fact perhaps it may have been even better to spend a bit more time being sociable over a couple too many glasses of wine! I cannot conclude the review without mentioning what a joy it is, when the evening draws to a close, to be able to gather some firewood and light the fire in the lounge. It was very comforting, warm and created a marvellous ambience in the cottage.

A very nice holiday, in a lovely rural setting!

We had a wonderful time at your property. We enjoyed the heated pool very much and had a very relaxing holiday. A fantastic setting for a rural retreat which lived up to our expectations. We found some excellent local restaurants thanks to your guide and would have no reservation in recommending it for a family holiday.

La Petite Maison

We had a wonderful family holiday at La Petite Maison.

As ever, we were looking forward to our family holiday and this year it was perfect! We stayed in La Petite Maison, it was well equipped, had a variety of places to eat outside and we enjoyed a roaring fire at night. The pool is fantastic – long enough to enjoy a few lengths before breakfast and plenty big enough for the family to enjoy together. There’s even a handy shallow area in which a toddler can happily sit in not more than six or seven inches of water.

We enjoyed playing badminton, table tennis, boules and just walking in the gardens, appreciating the trees, plants and wildlife. The local scenery is also beautiful and can be enjoyed from the property. We spent a few moments in the evenings just sitting on the drive watching the sun set.

The local countryside is just beautiful. The gardens and arboretum at the property are also a real joy. If you want to enjoy the Dordogne and enjoy peace and tranquillity in your ‘own place’ then this is by far the best place we’ve found after five previous holidays in France.
The owners, Helen and James, are delightful, friendly people who we felt genuinely want guests to enjoy their stay. The layout of Petites Cotes lends itself well to giving guests privacy, something which we value greatly.

“Helen and James have a really good cottage and their garden is filled with wildlife. My holiday was wonderful and very exciting” Charlie, aged 7.

It was such a wonderful place to stay, so much so that we were torn between touring the region and just staying put. This place is loved by its present owners and we couldn’t help but fall in love with it too.

First time in the dordogne

To say the pictures do not do the property jutsice would be accurate
.
The property is beautiful and we had a fantastic two weeks. Big living room with beams and a massive fireplace with log burning stove. The heated pool and the pool area were just wonderful and what a sun trap.

James and Helen the owners are a very charming and generous couple most helpful and while we were at the property you would not even know they were next door.

The gardens and amenities were fantastic and all in all we would have absolutely no hesitation in reccomending this property.

It was a superb base for touring and whilst we did 2500 kilometeres in the rental car we only saw a potion of the beatiful are.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
