Sayulita is your destination for relaxing and enjoying Mexico’s rich cultural and natural beauty, and the house and casitas of Casa Higuera provide the perfect accommodation to enjoy Sayulita’s window into Mexican village life in a spectacular coastal setting.
What sets Casa Higuera and Casa Sofia apart is its beachfront location, gorgeous ocean views, spacious and attractive design, and exclusive location on Sayulita’s best hill overlooking Sayulita Bay just steps away from both beach and village.
The self-contained casitas at Casa Higuera each offer a private entrance, spacious patio terraces overlooking the ocean, full kitchen, bedroom with a king-sized bed, living area with a couch that doubles as a twin bed to accommodate an additional child or adult, patio-dining under a traditional palapa roof, private bath, and plenty of closet space. You don't have to get out of bed to see the ocean!
Casa Higuera contains two private bedroom/bathroom suites (one king-size and one queen-size), additional half bath, full-sized kitchen, indoor dining area, living room, huge terrace with outdoor dining and living areas, and shaded tropical garden courtyard under a huge 100-year-old Higuera tree.
Casa Sofia is a two story house, with three bedrooms and three baths and virtually the same stunning views as Casa Higuera. The top floor has a bedroom with a king-sized bed, a full bathroom, a huge fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, a living room and a large patio. The downstairs has two bedrooms with king-sized beds, two full bathrooms, kitchenette/living/dining room and a large patio also with ocean views. The house is quite large (2500 square feet) and is ideal for living together but also having separate space.
Our houses and casitas are built with traditional and contemporary Mexican architectural design elements – including palapas, Spanish arches, and hand-painted Mexican Talavera tile. They are attractively decorated with Mexican arts and crafts, and contain a small collection of novels and books about Mexico.
Our accommodations are surrounded by tropical lushness and offer an additional common area to sit and relax around our private, landscaped hill that meanders right down to the beach. Daily maid service is provided.
Getting here: It couldn't be easier. Fly into the Puerto Vallarta airport on the carrier of your choice, grab a cab, and 30 minutes later you will be ready for a day at the beach. There is no need to rent a car as everything you will want is just steps away.

Great accommondations and maintenance. Location was excellent, only bout 2 blocks to center of town and very short work to reach the beach. Beautiful view.
From the taxi driver who collected us (as recommended by the owners of Casa Higuera), to the property, the view from our balcony, the pool, how close it was to town and the beach, I can't rate this place highly enough. The elderly or disabled may struggle with steep stairs to the beach or the hill to town - but for most people it won't be a problem at all and having walked around town a lot every day I think it has the best location in Sayulita. The house is gorgeous in terms of decoration, cleanliness and has all the things you need for cooking - although restaurants in Sayulita are so good you will want to eat out! Thanks for our stay.
Our second stay at the casitas of Casa Higuera was as marvelous as the first several years ago. Our casita was spacious, clean, very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. Marta and the other staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The private pool was a lovely getaway from the hub-bub of town, and the gardens surrounding Casa Higuera and casitas were beautiful. We love the location above the beach with awesome views, yet an easy walk into town. We would definitely return for another visit.
I don't think the photos did this place justice. The view from each of the units is stunning. The grounds are lush and well maintained. Our room was bright and open and the decor was unobtrusive and thoughtful. The place itself is located about 5 minutes up the hill from tiny city center, which can be a bit loud at times, so it offers a welcome retreat from the noise. I would recommend this place to any of my friends.
I wanted to thank you for our staying at Casa Higuera. We all had a fantastic time in beautiful Sayulita!
We felt at home, made friends and spent an amazing time at the beach.
The girls loved Rubia who spent a great time at the house with us ( we have two cats) and was good at letting the girls know when she did not wanted attention. :)
My husband and I had the chance to reconnect with nature and melt the stress away.
We hope to visit again soon!
I stayed here in June 2014 and it was the best vacation ever! The unit is so charming and just enough space - large bathroom, comfortable bed, full kitchen and what a view from the patio. I was able to sit and watch the most amazing lightening storm I have ever seen light up the sky and ocean for over an hour late one evening. The staff was awesome, and it was fun to meet all the neighboring guests during what ended up being afternoon pool time! (But pool is open all day from 10-10). The location is phenomonal, just a short walk down the back of the hill and you are at the beach. An added perk was the exercise just up a short hill to get to the house from town, my butt thanks me for it!
I am planning on returning in August, it really felt like home. Can’t wait to get back!
