PROVISIONS; there is plenty of corner shops and one mini supermarket selling all the basic foodstuffs etc in the old town itself. Outside the old town (about 300 meters from the apartment) there is a larger supermarket in the Kamelija Shopping centre. Most of the restaurants in the old town have a 'take away' menu.

The KAMELIJA shopping centre - www.kamelija.me/ - is located just outside the old town . Aswell as a supermarket this newly constructed centre has wide range of shops , a health and beauty area , coffee shops, banks etc. It has a very impressive childrens 'soft play' area/ interactive games area for children up to 10 years old.

There is a market just outside the front gates of the old town six days a week. If you have a car there is a hypermarket - large supermarket/ electrical store - about 5 minutes drive on the road to Budva.

There are a number of Pharmacies/Chemist in the old town and there is also a small Hospital on the edge of Kotor.

Discover the spectacular beauty of DURMITOR NATIONAL PARK in north western Montenegro which is two to three hours drive. Montenegro’s foremost natural wonder – its giddy-deep Tara Canyon. Set in the pristine mountainscape of Durmitor National Park, the Tara River Canyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lays claim to being the second largest canyon in the world, topped only by the Grand Canyon. Baffling though it may be, few outside the Balkans have heard of this amazing gorge.

DUBROVNIK in Croatia is 85 km.

George Bernard Shaw was enchanted by this beautiful city, about which he said 'those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik and see Dubrovnik', as well as, famously, describing it as 'the pearl of the Adriatic'. Dubrovnik truly is a stunning city with its amazing Old Town, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.

KOTOR :

Lord Byron described the coastal region of the Gulf of Kotor as 'the most beautiful encounter between land and the sea'

The Kotor Old Town, Stari Grad is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is more than 2,000 years old. The Old Town of Kotor hosts fascinating labyrinthine cobblestone streets and Venetian buildings. The major attraction in the historical town is the ancient fortress and its magnificent walls which offer breathtaking views over the city and the scenic Boka Kotorska Bay. The walls were built by the Venetians and are around 20 meters high and 15 meters wide. There are also several Roman churches with beautiful frescoes in Kotor. Built in the 11th century, the famous Cathedral of Saint Tryphon is also worth visiting. Kotor has been the centre of sailing since the 12th century: in the Maritime Museum you can get in touch with the history of this important port city

.Entertainment. The Old Town of Kotor is the centre of the lively nightlife in Kotor, with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy. The colorful summer festivals and concerts in Kotor attract visitors from many countries. Shopping in Kotor is a pleasure as there are numerous boutiques in the Old town.

Varied activities. For those interested in outdoor activities, Kotor offers a wide range of options. There are no sandy beaches in the city, but the Jaz and Trestono beaches are within a short driving distance from Kotor. The crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea are ideal for sailing or diving around Kotor. Boat tours in Kotor are an ideal way of viewing the beautiful coastline and the numerous small islands around the town. The surrounding Lovcen Mountain and the Lovcen National Park are ideal for trekking around Kotor.

Towering high above Kotor one of the must sees is the walk up the fort. Be aware however that if it is raining the walk up can be quiet slippery and you definitively should be good on your feet if you attempt the walk up.

The Castle of St. John occupies a location that has been fortified in some manner for centuries. The current fortifications date from Venetian rule in the 15th century. The castle is only one part of the fortification of Kotor. The walls travel down the mountain of St. John and surround the city, where towers and other defense structures have historically provided protection for residents and buildings.

The views from the top are simply spectacular with vistas over Kotor, the Fjord and the mountains

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay in Kotor was marvelous. We've enjoyed it very much.

My six friends and I have organized a bike tour on the Montenegrin coast and Kotor was our central point. It was very easy to move around and great information provided in the tourist offices.

The apartment is situated in a quiet part of the Old Town, so we could enjoy the night life, but also have rest at night. It s so spacious and bright, which is not typical for holiday apartments. Just perfect!

I would highly recommend this place to stay both to families with children and groups.
