Ceriana House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom 2 bathroom comfortable and substantial.
This old town house a few steps from piazza Sant' Andrea and its church, has been recently restored (2008). Modern comforts (including internet) and old stone walls and features make this bright spacious house just the setting for a very special holiday.
On the top floor there is a private sunny terrace overlooking the village with table and chairs. Inside a new fully equipped kitchen and a dining room allow for comfortable dining with friends and family, and there is a sitting room. There is also one bedroom and a complete bathroom.
On the floor below is an imposing master bedroom (red in the pictures) with ancient wood doors and original slate flooring which leads to two further bedrooms and a big bathroom.
Total 4 bedrooms with beds for 7 people there is also a cot provided. See details below.
With solid furniture, antique rugs on old stone floors, and high ceilings the house has a feeling of home to it. Plenty of windows let in the sun, but on those summer afternoons close the shutters and just relax in the cool interior
The village of Ceriana has a main street where you'll find cars and shops. Off this you will find piazzas and churches and cobbled streets and stone paths too narrow for cars, and lovely old houses. One such house is this house. So park your car, if you've come in one, and walk through quiet streets and enjoy a real change.
Here in Ceriana you will find all your needs. There are several grocery shops with real seasonal fruit and veg, a cake and pastry shop and excellent butchers. Speciaities from the village include pies and sausages, and much olive oil and wine is produced locally. There are also bars and restaurants and a bank and pharmacy, along with a post office and a town hall. The gelateria makes great home made ice cream in the summer, and aperatif time in the bars is an image of Italian hospitality and generosity.
Throughout the year there are festivals and 'sagras', local and national fêtes. There are concerts and dances, religeous processions, bbqs in the square, the famous august sausage festival, and plenty more. The river Armea running through the village is deep enough (and warm enough) to swim in in the summer, and if it is sandy beaches you are after there are plenty on the coast about 20 minutes away.
A car is a great advantage, but no car is fine too, as buses run regularly from the village to/from San Remo. There you can catch a train to Cannes or Monte Carlo, so getting around is really easy.
San Remo has a weekly market on saturday mornings (clothes and leather goods and scarves etc etc) and on Monday there is a similar market in Arma di Taggia. The famous Ventimiglia market is on Fridays. There is also a sunday market in Ceriana every second sunday.
A NOTE FOR FAMILIES. Families with children of all ages are welcome, and catered for (cot and high chair in the house) so we would like to point out some things to help you. The house has hard marble floors and stairs. There are terraces and windows that look out over the town and so are quite high up.
A NOTE ON LOCATION. Ceriana is an ancient town with winding streets, so walking is part of the holiday. Walking to and from the house is easy (a few minutes from your parked car) and at night the streets are well lit. Cars cannot access the street on which the house is located.
ON A GENERAL NOTE. The house is rented in a simple and straightforward way, and we hope you will enjoy the simplicity. If however you have special or particular needs, allergies phobias mobility etc, please make sure your needs are clearly explained at the inquiry stage, so as to avoid any misunderstandings later. Thank you.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We had a lovely time in Ceriana and will definitely return! Highlights include the swim- hole/laghetto, the food at the "Fattoria" just out of town on the road to Poggio, the village of Baiardo with its great bar and Zen-like views of the Alps, and just hanging out with the very friendly Cerianesi. S & C and family England.
