Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time in Paris and found the flat in a good location for visiting the sights. The local shops were excellent and we enjoyed a meal at the Lebanese restaurant Bistrot Beirut on our final night.

My wife and I had the mezzos for two, which we had to share with the whole table, as there was so much, with an additional plate of sweets 'on the house' being brought with our coffees. I would certainly recommend the restaurant as something a little bit different and enjoyable.

A taste of real Paris

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, light, airy flat plenty of room for family of four, very easy to reach from Eurostar. Good facilities; dish washer, washing machine plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc just as described in the advert and good, easy to use central heating

A great deal of the attraction for us lies in the fact that, although in easy reach of all the tourist spots by bus or metro, the local area gives one a real flavour of living in Paris. There is a good butcher’s, a wine shop, cheese shop, several boulangeries and a couple of supermarkets within 10 minutes walk. We also enjoyed a walk to the huge Marche d’Aligre.

As well as the currently popular Bastille quarter, the up and coming districts such as Bellville and the canal St Martin area to the north are also easily reached from the flat and well worth exploring.

My family and I have stayed there 3 times, for a total of 5 weeks. I have always found the owners very efficient and easy to deal with . We all, kids included ,thoroughly recommend it and we shall definitely be going back again.

Super flat convenient for all Paris attractions

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week. The flat was clean and bright and warm on cold evenings. It is conveniently situated for several Metro lines which will quickly whisk you to all of the main attractions. The lift was a bit small and we struggled to get 2 suitcases and 2 people in when we arrived. The Bastille district was full of small restaurants or if you want to eat in, there was plenty of choice of supermarkets or artisan shops. Would definitely return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the lift is a bit on the small size but then that's pretty typical for Paris. Do think of us if you decide to visit Paris again.

Bright and spacious apartment in fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

The owners description was accurate regarding layout and facilities but the photos do not do justice to how light and spacious we found the apartment . It was more than we were expecting. It was very well equipped for our extended stay of a month. The owners are very approachable and helpful with any queries. The flat was clean, beds made up and instructions for appliances etc. were suppliied. The Conceige was very helpful and common parts of the apartment block were always clean and tidy. Our age range was between 17 and 73. We used all local transport and found it easy to walk to most of the places we visited.

The apartment is situation in a quiet street just off the main rue de Charonne. Everything for shopping can be done locally on the rue de Charonne or you can go a little further afield to larger supermarket Monoprix. There are numerous cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The Creperie, The Hanoi, Chez Paul, all on the main road.

Charonne metro within a few minutes walk, Bastille a slightly longer walk. Centre of Paris 40 minutes walk from apartment.. Pack of 10 metro tickets 13euros very useful and can be used on the bus as well.

Open bus tour very informative and a pleasant way to hop on hop off at various locations . Batobus also easy to use.

We had pre-planned temporary exhibition and had no admisision problems with these visits although for a shorter stay a Museum Pass could avoid the queues , spent 5 days doing the touristy things, visited the main museums, a half day visit to Monets house and garden - less travelling time by train and bus than with coach tour - and an extended tour bus day trip to the Loire. We had the luxury of time to explore various areas and found the Dali exhibition in the Monmatre the best we had seen. The canal St. Martrated above the Eiffel Tower. The younger generation went on a French cookery course which was 'awesome. ' There are lots of parks and play areas for children close to and further afiekd, There is a lot of owner supplied information and maps on things to do and see. Nothing disappointed. We did not want to leave, hope to go back and would certainly recommend the accommodation and the location

The authentic Paris experience

  • 5 of 5

This lovely, bright apartment, close to the Place de la Bastille, provides a wonderful sense of living in Paris.

We are a family of four, and all agreed that its location offered something for everybody, from convenient parks for venturing out with little ones to easy routes into central Paris for the young people in our own family, keen to explore. There are several metro stations, and also bus stops, within walking distance, so public transport is easy to negotiate.

There’s plenty to explore nearby, too. The apartment is in a buzzing, friendly neighbourhood, with plenty of shops and supermarkets within easy reach, as well as a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. A busy little supermarket at the end of the street is well worth a visit, and there’s another less than ten minutes’ walk away which has everything you need for self- catering. We also found the local patisseries excellent.

There are travel guides in the apartment, some a little out of date but nevertheless all very useful and a thoughtful touch, together with a file of previous residents’ suggestions on local facilities and activities.

It is clear that the owners take great care to maintain the apartment, which is clean, simple and, above all, welcoming, a relaxing home from home.

The kitchen facilities are good, all as described, and the dining and living spaces are large, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Both of the bedrooms are a good size, and we also used the sofa-bed in the living room, which we found more than adequate.

Booking was straightforward. The owners were pleasant and helpful, and arrival and departure arrangements were managed simply and efficiently. Most of the questions we might have had were answered in the comprehensive information pack they provided, and others were replied to promptly by email and telephone.

We really couldn’t have wished for better customer service, or for a more positive introduction to Paris.

Comfortable apartment in a quiet area

  • 4 of 5

Our recent stay in this lovely apartment was very comfortable for our family (2 adults & 2 teens). We found the apartment quite roomy especially by Paris standards and the kitchen was great. The apartment was well located close to stores with fresh produce and groceries. The metro stations are within only a few minutes walk and Bastille and Marais are also close by with great restaurants and shopping.

The apartment was tidy and clean and well represented in the advertising. The owners also provided great customer service and came through with all their commitments. Because of this we'd be pleased to refer our friends and other travellers here.

Small tip - visit the small Japanese restaurant close by as they have very nice food at a reasonable price.

The apartment is in the historic 11th arrondissement, close to Bastille and within easy reach of all of Paris' main attractions, via excellent transport links.

It is just off the Rue de Charonne, a bustling street, packed with independent food shops, cozy bars and restaurants, and quirky boutiques which leads you to the heart of the Bastille area.

Close by are several good cafes and restaurants, a fromagerie, a perennially crowded butcher's, a wine merchant, a couple of excellent greengrocers' and a choice of boulangeries. The lively Rue Oberkampf, with its many bars and restaurants, is a short walk away.

For day time sight-seeing, the Pere Lachaise Cemetery - resting place of Chopin, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde, among other famous names - is an easy stroll from the apartment.

Also within walking distance is the Marais. From there, you can easily reach Rue de Rivoli, Notre Dame cathedral, the River Seine and the Rive Gauche.
