DETACHED FARMHOUSE IN THE EMMA PARK AT THE CENTER OF MEDEMBLIK

We rented this house for 4 nights to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. We were a party of 10 - my parents, my sister and myself and our respective children ( 4).

We were extremely disappointed with the house which is very rundown and has clearly not been looked after for some time. In spite of being described on the website as "the most beautiful house in Medemblik" the appearance both outside and inside is very shabby. Outside the paint has flaked off and inside the wallpaper has peeled off and there were rusty pipes. Several bedrooms did not have curtains which was an issue as the house is situated on a busy and brightly lit road.The place smelt very musty and was not terribly clean - the shower doors were mouldy and the downstairs toilet smelt of urine. The freezer had not been defrosted for weeks or possibly months and we were unable to open it. The downstairs bedroom had no woking light bulbs and a wardrobe door fell off when we opened it! It is certainly not somewhere one would choose to spend any time

It is also worth pointing out that the large TV shown on the website has been replaced by a much smaller one.

Following our return we contacted the owner ( we had already raised our concerns with her husband who unexpectedly dropped in during our stay) asking for a partial refund. However, she has refused to acknowledge there are any problems with the property maintaining it is clean and in good order.
