Just a few miles south of the Sonoma Plaza, on a lazy bend in Sonoma Creek, rows of chardonnay vines soak up the Northern California sun. Inside a nearby redwood barn, barrels crafted from oak, forests half a world away are filled with wines from last year's harvest. Come and enjoy a unique, private, comfortable and relaxing stay at A Captain's House, located on the property of Larson Family Winery.
A Captain's House is a wonderful Civil War era Farmhouse, located on a working winery and located amid 70 acres of vineyards. Private, yet open and spacious, the House features four bedrooms, and two full baths. The gourmet kitchen is fully appointed, and the living areas are equipped with such amenities as a flat screen TV, telephone and internet access. The backyard is an inviting country setting with many mature trees and Sonoma Creek just beyond. A barbeque, many sitting areas and an arbor with a picnic table, provide gathering areas and guarantees that guests will experience wine country at its best. There is also access to a regulation size bocce ball court.
The house is across from the Tasting Room and Winery. It is located just ten minutes south of the Sonoma Plaza, in the western reaches of the Los Carneros appellation and has easy access to Napa, just a quick 20 minute drive, and San Francisco, 45 minutes away. Many people have said that when they come down Millerick Road, it is truly a rewarding end to a bumpy road!
Spent a few days in wine country with some friends for a quick get way and had an absolutely marvelous time! The house is full of character and you feel transported back in time but with the all the modern day amenities. Gorgeous location right on the vineyard and directly across from the tasting room! Staff is wonderful and we had a perfect mini vacation in the Captain's House! So close to everything and we rented a driver for a day trip into Yountvile which was also fantastic. Loved coming "home" to our home too- would highly recommend to families, small groups of friends, or anyone interested in having a genuine relaxing time in wine country!
We stayed here for a girls' getaway. The house was roomy and had everything we needed to eat in and entertain. Even though the home has all the modern amenities (loaded kitchen, fast internet, good water pressure in shower, big tv, coffee maker, etc,) the rooms maintain their historical charm. I felt transported and relaxed. It was great to sit outside at night and gaze at the stars. There are games galore in the house and right outside. It is close to wineries as well as having a tasting room on the premise which is top notch. My only disappointment was that I had to leave after only two nights. Next time I will plan a longer visit. Becky Larson, the owner, is a delight to work with.
We booked this place for our family and us for our wedding this October and oh my God we'd all go back again!! The winery staff and management are super personable people. They did everything to make us feel so welcome and make our stay enjoyable. We fell in love with the winery dogs! Even my 7 year old daughter loved this place with the beam bag toss and the bocce ball court. The house is very well kept and has ample space for 9 people. The kitchen is up to date and we pretty much cooked everyday and every meal. Great outdoor baloney, porch swing and seating areas to eat dinner with the whole family. We absolutely loved this place. It was a home away from home and we have beautiful memories of our wedding weekend and time away. Thank you to all the staff and a special thank you to Becky Larson!! Amazing place.
I cannot say enough good things about the people at Larson Family Winery. In looking for a place to stay with a group of friends, this house looked perfect. Sadly, the day before we were supposed to arrive, a branch fell on the house's electrical box, resulting in no electricity or running water. Erin (the winery's event coordinator) called me immediately and assured me she'd find our group another place to stay. Not only did Erin spend her day off finding us another house to stay at, but Larson Family Winery also paid the difference as the new house was more expensive. They went above and beyond! Our group still visited Larson Family Winery to enjoy our complimentary wine tasting and to play their array of lawn games available (bocce ball, ladder golf, corn hole, and horse shoes). Lee, the tasting room manager, even allowed us to stay after the winery was closed for the day so our group could continue to enjoy the games (which we did for several hours). Although we did not get to stay at the house, we were able to go inside and it was very nice -- exactly as shown in the pictures. The grounds were beautiful and it's in a great location (only a few miles from Sonoma square). I would highly recommend this property!
We celebrated three "60th" birthdays by coming to Sonoma for a long weekend. Our group was family that came from the East Coast, Midwest and West Coast. Half of our party stayed here and we used this quaint farmhouse as our meeting point. Had a blast preparing evening meals, playing bocce ball, and visiting with family along with drinking the wines we had purchased during the day! The road may be a little unconventional, but well worth the drive. Erin and all the staff at the Larson Family Winery were absolutely wonderful! Great place to finish off the evening after a full day of wine tasting.
