Colline Toscane Apartments set amidst an amazing panorama and are in a perfect location to experience a relaxing vacation in Southern Tuscany.
The Quercia and Castagno are cut into a hill some 600m above sea level with uninterrupted views of the local village of Sarteano, an ancient medieval village famous for its renaissance castle and churches, the surrounding villages, (some as far as 50 kilometers from the apartments) and the lakes:Trasimeno, Chiusi and Montepulciano on the Val di Chiana valley, which abuts the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO world heritage site in Southern Tuscany.
The apartments sit just off the village in an exclusive residential area and next to the owners' facilities. Il CASTAGNO and La QUERCIA are part of a newly built two-storey villa with terraces on each floor. Each apartment enjoys its own private garden and facilities with access to a lush small wood consisting of oak, walnut and chestnut trees over a sloping terrain. Experience al fresco dining on the terrace watching a Tuscan sunset and our NEW terraced “Panoramic Pool” (3.5m x7mx 1.2h) with incredible turquoise water, a solarium with plenty of sunbeds, loungers and umbrellas but most of all with the most amazing views! Guests are also welcomed to use the hot tub, on another terrace and garden facilities next door (open only in the cooler months when the pool is closed)! The hot tub accommodates up to 8 persons and nests in a beautifully kept garden with lawn, flowers and aromatic plants. Soak the Tuscan sun on the terrace surrounded by the olive grove or relax under the vine covered pergola. A well-stocked kitchen garden full of organic vegetables and a wide variety of fruit trees are also at your disposal!
The 2 apartments can be rented together to accommodate a max of 8 adults+2 children.
We also have 1 bedroom apartment: “THE CIPRESSO HIDEAWAY” Property N. 895389 next door, which is an ideal romantic gateway for two and shares the same facilities.
Visit Cortona, (Under the Tuscan Sun’s book), Florence, Siena, Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Arezzo, Rome. Explore the unique towns of Pienza, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Montalcino (Brunello) and enjoy their famous wines. Visit the monasteries of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant'Antimo (where the English Patient was filmed). Or simply relax in your private garden!
Rarely have three weeks holidays and I experienced such a great hospitality from Donna and Serge!
We spent three weeks this summer in the apartment La Quercia. The day we arrived we found a very clean and well-equipped accommodation with breathtaking views, a homemade cake, montalcino wine and a survival package for the first day.
The description of the plant and the apartment on HomeAway fully meet the actual events. The attention by the host was wonderful, ranging from help with trip planning, supply of fresh food from the kitchen-garden, lots of nice conversations up to an appointment with Donna’s family doctor (which we had to visit once during our stay).
Sarteano is a very pretty small, medieval town where something is always going on (of a medieval festival to weekly market). The location of the property allows day trips to Siena, Perugia, Rome, Florence, Orvieto and many other beautiful places. Overall, we spent a wonderful and very relaxing vacation at Donna and Serge and can recommend without limitation this address. We will be very happy to come back! Martina, Julian, Lena and Jacky
Our week in the Quercia apartment at the edge of Sarteano was everything we hoped for. Donna was so helpful and welcoming with gifts of wine, olive oil, cake, vegetables from her garden, grapes and more. The apartment was clean, well-maintained and spacious, with outstanding views in all directions and beautiful gardens and landscaping. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of space for us to cook meals -- we even had a private chef come one evening to give us a cooking lesson making fresh pasta and sauces. Donna helped us with maps, brochures and suggested restaurants and shops to visit, as well as arranging a tour guide who met us on our first day to help plan activities. The location was perfect -- close enough to town for us to walk, but far enough away from town to be a quiet respite -- and a good spot for taking day trips to many fun and interesting nearby towns including Montepulciano. We would definitely recommend this property!

From the outset Donna was very friendly and helpful. We booked the apartment at short notice but it was very easy . Donna even gave advice on hiring a car for our stay.
The apartment is clean and light and we'll-equipped. The sunny balcony has a great view over the valley.
Unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to swim in the pool but the garden area behind the apartment is lovely to sit in and also has a great view.
When we arrived Donna met us with freshly made cake and a bottle of local wine. On day 2 she arrived with grapes from her garden.
We loved Sarteano, a small town off the tourist trail so quite quiet. It has an intact, low-key castle. We tried 3 of the restaurants recommended by Donna and all we're very good...and cheap.
All in all a great place to get away from it all for a few days.
Our 2 week stay in Colline Toscane in the Quercia apartment was everything we wished for from our first visit to Tuscany. The welcome from Donna was warm and generous - we really appreciated the wine, cake, milk and other essentials that awaited us in the apartment. Donna couldn't have been more helpful, kindly arranging a doctors visit when our son became ill, and providing as much information as we needed about the local area. The surprise gifts of freshly picked plums on our doorstep on a couple of mornings and a homemade tiramisu on another evening just added to our enjoyment.
The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The view from our balcony was incredible. The pool was perfect for the whole family and a good depth (1.2m) for our 7 and 8 year old children. Having a barbeque (the wood was even provided) made evening meals easy too.
All in all, the perfect base for our 2 week holiday - our favourite trips were to San Gimignano, Montepulciano and Chiusi - and we would happily recommend it to others and are likely to return ourselves another time.
We had a wonderful stay - everything was outstanding. By far one of the best places we have stayed. Donna had everything ready (wine, pasta, jam, coffee and olive oile) at no cost for us.
Wonderful garden full of flowers, herbes and organic vegetables we could use. Donna and her husband were just great, always ready to help and share good ideas for what to see and where to go and eat.
When our car broke down Donna helped us with finding a garage to fix the car and gave us a lift in her own car.
In Sarteano you find a little shop that offers homemade pasta - don't leave without tasting the ravioli and homemade pesto.
We will be back :-)
We have had a splendid Holiday in Colline Toscane. This is a superb place to stay: we (2 adults, a 16 year old and a ten year old) had two very happy weeks there. The property is excellent - clean, well-equipped and comfortable. On arrival we found cake, wine, milk, homemade jam, coffee etc to welcome us. The views from the balcony and various parts of the garden are also superb and stretch for miles. The garden is terraced, with fruit and veg available for us to use. Each level has seating for a look at that view. The pool provided hours of entertainment. Donna and Serge are simply superb hosts. They provided us with food from their garden and a tiramasu which was great. We had a chat with Serge about how aubergine and courgette are prepared in Tuscany - the next day we had the ingredients from their garden provided and a recipe. Donna also helped us with navigating the train ticket system. We took the train for just under a couple of hours to have a full day in Rome. We could have gone to Florence easily (but have been there before) and enjoyed a number of small Tuscan towns within easy reach and Sienna, which is about an hour away. However, the property is a place it is nice to stay in if you want nothing more than peace and quiet - we also enjoyed walking in the woods at the top of the hill behind the property.
Overall, would give 6 out of 5!
Sarteano is an ideal starting point for exploring the rustic heart of Tuscany and savouring the region’s world famous Chianti, Montalcino and Montepulciano wines and its delicious food such as the Fiorentina steak. The small medieval villages of Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni, Cetona, Montefollonico; the town of Chiusi of Etruscan origin; the renaissance treasures of Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and Cortona and the well renowned cities of Arezzo, Siena, Orvieto, Florence, San Gimignano, Perugia are all easily accessible by car or public transport. On a clear night the illumination of some of the town and villages are clearly visible from the apartments.
