Discover the best kept secret in the South of France, between Arles, Nimes and Montpellier. In the heart of Petite Camargue, where white horses roam, black bulls charge and pink flamingoes flock, you will find the tranquil comfort of Mas Tolosan.
Mas Tolosan is a 17th century farmhouse that has been renovated in a modern style without loosing any of the original charm. The garden is fragrant and colorful, the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, relax by the pool or sip a glass of wonderful local wine.
We have 4 double bedrooms with private bathrooms plus a 100m2 holiday apartment perfect for a family vacation. The enclosed pool is open from May to October.
An old barn was renovated in 2010 to house the 4 B&B rooms, each room has been individually decorated with taste, style and charm.
We offer breakfast (included in the B&B price) and dinner service. Both are served in the fragrant and colorful garden. Your car is securely parked in our courtyard at no extra cost.
We have created 4 spacious and comfortable rooms with independent bathrooms and inspired deco. The rooms all have a different theme, you choose if you want to spend the night dreaming of being a Gardian (the cowboy of the Camargue), or being a Toreador in the ancient arenas, walk in the steps of Vincent van Gogh (who spent a noteworthy and important period in the area), or immerse yourself in the plays of Henrik Ibsen.
Each room has an en-suite bathroom with modern shower, some with massage jets, some with radio. The rooms have big comfortable beds - Ibsen has a King sized bed (180x200) for those who enjoy their space during sleep, Toreador and van Gogh have both Queen sized beds (160x200) and Gardian has two single beds (90x200) for those who prefer to sleep alone.
We serve breakfast whenever and where ever you prefer, be it the garden, next to the pool, the kitchen or in your room. Our breakfasts are hearty and fulfilling with homemade bread and jams, fresh fruits, juice, yoghurt and a piping hot ‘bol de cafe au lait’ or a large ‘cuppa’.
Fancy a morning dip? Our pool is secured and accessible from morning until evening for our guests. Our garden has been created with 4 individual terraces for you to choose from. You can relax in the sun next to our cactus garden, enjoy a glass of local wine by our herb garden, read the morning paper under the olive tree or plan the day’s adventure surrounded by colourful flowers and the smell of lavender.
The apartment has been decorated with the feria in mind. Feria is the yearly bull-fights and bullgame demonstrations in the village arena. The feria is the atmosphere and the spirit of the region. At Mas Tolosan you will feel the atmosphere of the Camargue as you step through the door. The apartment, measuring 96m2, has two bedrooms, one with queen sized bed (160x200) and one with 2 single beds (90x200). air conditioning, a mezzanine perfect for the kids’ play area, a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine. Mas Tolosan is situated only 30 minutes drive from Roman Nimes and dynamic Montpellier, only 30 mins or so from the Med beaches and an hour from Avignon. It's situated in a non-tourist village (i.e. REAL France!) but you'll be spoilt for choice for eating and drinking.
Take a safari drive through the Camargue, visit the salt flats (you can visit the Baleine factory!) and see the rice fields; the owner can also reserve a sun-set horse ride for you near St Maries de la Mer, where your horse paddles through the etangs. Guests can also ask the owner to babysit for the evening, whilst they eat seafood nearby in Spanish looking St Maries. Oh yes, and don't forget the flamingos and the bird park!
Montpellier is great for window shopping down the little pedestrianised backstreets, followed by a drop of something cold to drink on the Place du Comedie by the famous Opera house. Then, head back to holiday home via the beach at Palavas, only 6kms from Montpellier, where you can visit the rotating tower restaurant and bar there.
In Nimes, a visit to the famous arena is a must - they even do concerts there in the evening. Take a walk through the Jardin des Fontaines and then take a stroll thought the tiny pedestrianized streets of the old town. Drop in to the famous Hotel Imperator for a bite to eat or an aperitif.
Take a whole day out to visit the lovely small town of Uzes, about an hour North, buy a picnic and then drive 5 minutes to the famous Pont du Gard. There's plenty of running about space here and on some nights during the Summer, they have a light show that can't be missed.
A visit to the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes is only 20 minutes away with its famous and well-preserved fortifications from the 13-century, quaint little boutiques and teeming with cafes and restaurants.
