Situated 30 minutes outside Alexandria in a delightful village called King Mariout where you will see donkey and carts and traditionally dressed bedouins. This superb location enables you to not only see the sites of Egypt but also experience the local life. The Pyramids are only 2 hours drive away, and you can also visit the Greco Roman sites of Alexandria, the war memorials of El Alamein, the colourful souks, the beautiful beaches along the North Coast, and you can even sand board down dunes! It is a holiday suitable for everyone. Included in the price is a car and driver, daily maid service and airport transfers.

King Mariout itself has many food stalls where you can buy all basic food supplies. There is a large Carrefore Hypermarket 20 minutes away where you can buy everything. There are quite a few restaurants in the King Mariout location and a wide choice if you go a little further a field. We have a beach pass for Paridise Beach in Agami. Visit the many Greco Roman sites in Alexandria - the catacombs, pompeii's pillar, Roman theatre and the villa of the birds, Fort Quaitbey, the Alexandrian Museums, the library, the beautiful gardens and Palace of Montaza. It's only 2 hours from the villa to the Pyramids. Take a trip to the Western Desert for the day or visit the war memorials of El Alamein. Don't worry about having to find all these places or driving in Egypt - included in the price is a car and driver. When you feel the need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the busy Egyptian streets - relax by the heated pool in total seclusion, overlooking the tropical garden.

This was our first family holiday outside of Europe and we had no idea what it would be really like; despite the detailed information on the sahara website.
We had an AMAZING time in Egypt and it was always a comfort to get back to the villa.
Villa Sahara was a perfect holiday base for our family of 7 and the pool was always occupied. The interior was a welcome retreat from the heat of the day and the AC was essential for sleeping. We wanted to bring our bed back with us, it was very comfortable.
The staff were there when needed but left us to our holiday and made a big difference, can we adopt Asra?
Having a driver was the single most important benefit of this holiday and we had some never to be forgotten experiences.
For the boring stuff, like having to eat, the massive modern Carrefour supermarket was too easy and met all our western needs, it was a surprise to find such a place.
Wine and beer had to bought elsewhere but was easy to get.
Trying to add balance to our wonderful experience is difficult, because any negatives were so minor and mainly related to having to spend quite a lot of time in the car to get into Alexandria.
We loved this grubby city, that rewarded each visit in further unexpected ways.
The seafood restaurants live up to their reputation.
What made this holiday special; pyramids,deserts,Nile,monasteries, museums,souks,coffee shops and the odd library aside, were the Egyptians ,who were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

We had a lovely time in the Villa for 1 week in April. Weather was great and the pool was fantastic and heated enough for my 2 young children to swim in. The Villa was spacious, very clean and a cleaner came nearly everyday which was really appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped and the DVD, TV provision was also an added bonus for the kids. The garden was well kept, very private and also large enough to play games in.
The driver and the owners are very friendly and Maria kindly returned Pooh bear when my daughter had left him in her room. I would have only 1 comment to make that you need the driver because there is not a lot around the local area and the distance to a good beach that will tolerate the Western way of sunbathing is a good hour plus..but if you want to chill out by a pool and like culture ( Alexandria) visits then this is the place.

We've just had a week - our first - in Egypt and stayed at the Villa Sahara, King Mariout. Our choice could not have been better! The villa is so comfortable and so well equipped you'd be hard pressed to find anything lacking. Our hosts' hospitality knew no bounds and we found all the thoughtful little touches - such as the very thoughtfully prepared spread of food/fruit and refreshments awaiting us on arrival, provision of towels for pool as well as beach, remote controlled air-conditioning in bedrooms, insect screens, Arabic guide and phrase books, the offer to have our laundry done, even the booking of inclusive airport transfers - just made us feel like very special guests indeed, even friends! The real bonus was the dedicated use of a car, and our driver who proved himself invaluable - and indefatigable - as a guide and translator. With him we got the benefit of seeing all the top cultural attractions, the beaches, the shopping venues etc., as well as a taste of the real Egypt as we were happy to be taken to places where the locals themselves shop and eat. I might be doing myself a disservice recommending Villa Sahara so highly - it may get so booked up now there'll be no more availability for us - but in all fairness this accommodation and its hosts deserve the highest accolades. They've gone the extra mile and it shows!
