Overview

Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom Cottage sleeps 4, pet friendly, quiet location, easy touring

Wyncroft offers comfortable, roomy self-catering accommodation for both outdoor enthusiasts and visitors seeking a cosy retreat, is equipped to sleep 4, with a spacious comfortable double bedroom and colourful twin bedroom and featuring separate living and dining rooms. The kitchen is well equipped for all the visitor should need to feel at home. The cottage is ideal for families or couples looking for an all-seasons holiday in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. The dining room leads out onto the enclosed garden with patio and mature lawn area, ideal for relaxing after a day's sight-seeing. There is a wide and welcoming hall which adds to the feeling of space to spread out. The cottage is quietly situated in a residential area, with easy parking, yet centrally placed for touring, with a large variety of outdoor pursuits such as exploring castles, walking, cycling, skiing & fishing within easy reach. Golf and walking the Cateran Trail are also a major feature of the area. The cottage is an ideal holiday base for exploring the attractive nearby towns of Perth, Dundee, Dunkeld and Pitlochry, and Balmoral, Scone Palace & Glamis Castle are close by. The cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen are also possible day excursions. We are pet friendly - our canine visitors particularly appreciate the enclosed garden and numerous walks all within reach of the front door.

Food, glorious food: Wyncroft is equipped with everything necessary for a self-catering holiday, with a mini supermarket 5 minutes' walk round the corner and a large supermarket 5 minutes' drive away. If a break from the kitchen is needed, Blairgowrie offers a wide range of dining choices, from fish and chip shops, Chinese and Indian takeaways and restaurants, a seafood restaurant, bistro, steak restaurant and several cafes, pubs and hotels. You will also find a fresh fish shop, independent bakers, award-winning butchers supplying prime Scottish meat and game, a cheese shop and a farm shop selling local produce. In summer, there are regular farmers' markets either in the town or within easy reach and there are several farm shops & cafes to be visited in the area. Locally smoked salmon from Dunkeld is a treat and the area is famed for its strawberries and raspberries in summer. For whisky enthusiasts, distilleries in the area include those at Pitlochry, Crieff and Blackford. Try the local icecream!

A warm welcome: We hope you will feel instantly at home when you arrive in Wyncroft. Beds are made up for your arrival with quality bedlinen and ample quality bathroom towels are supplied. The heating is turned on prior to your arrival according to the season. The heating system and shower were renewed in November 2010, ensuring instant, constant hot water and lovely all round heat. A basic starter pack of essentials is provided to cover immediate needs - tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, basic cleaning materials, kitchen cloths, handwash and loo roll. The small Co-op supermarket on the main road into the town is only 5 minutes away, has a very good range of food and drink, snacks and newspapers etc and is open until 10pm every day. The larger Tesco supermarket just off the town centre is also open every day until 10 pm or later in summer (8 pm on Sundays), selling not just food and drink but also non-food items such as clothing, DVDs, CDs, books, electronics and more.

What is there to do?: You will find a wide range of tourist information in the cottage covering all sorts of interests - walking, golf, castles, Highland Games, gardens, activities for children, water & winter sports, shopping, scenic drives, distilleries, foodies, shopping, dining and more ........ if you need more information, there is a Tourist Information Office in the Wellmeadow (in the town centre) which can advise on all sorts of activities, offers internet access and can make bookings for accommodation if you are moving on from Blairgowrie.

Blairgowrie is well situated for visits further afield also with access to major roads close by, making trips to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen an easy day out. Some of our guests use the cottage as a base to tour the whole of Scotland, going as far as the Highlands and Islands using the ferry network in the west!

Now on Facebook - search for Wyncroft Shaw Street for up to date news or or visit www.visiteastperthshire.co.uk for tourist information.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Bonsoir,

Cordialement.

A really lovely cosy comfortable wee cottage

  • 4 of 5

Just home from a lovely Easter break in this cottage. It was really comfortable and clean and was the ideal base for a relaxing break. The kitchen was very well stocked with crockery, cooking utensils etc and it was lovely to arrive and find the basics in foodstuffs waiting including shortbread and an Easter Egg for my grandson. Elspeth came round to say hello on our first night and was very friendly. Blairgowrie is a lovely town and the cottage is well within walking distance to the town shops. Elspeth also provided lots of information on things to do in the area. I would happily recommend Wyncroft and am sure that we will return in the future.

Great week in Blairgowrie

  • 5 of 5

I liked the big hall, it gave a good impression and promised a 2 bedroom house with plenty of room. That's what we got. We were short of nothing and Elspeth was on hand to provide had it been necessary. Blairgowrie has civic pride evidenced by its well marked and varied paths for walking the dog. We walked into town most days. We are going back next year.

Nice cottage for a wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our holiday at Wyncroft very much.

The house is nice and cosy, clean and spacoius. There is everything for a comfortable stay. Situated in a quiet street in a small and pretty town it is ideal for exploring the nearer landscape, the Grampians and the Trossachs, on the one hand and the coast, Perthsire and Fife, on the other.

We´ve had a realy good contact with the friendly owner, - and we definitely recommend it highly!
