Conil de la Frontera Vacation Rental villa: Roche Viejo (Conil)

Before we left:
Communication from the owners was excellent and plenty of useful information was provided including maps, directions from the airport, local facilities etc.

Arrival:
We flew into Gibraltar and the drive to the Villa was straight forward (with some great scenery) although if you use a sat nav I suggest you abandon it when getting close and use the excellent directions provided by the owners. That way you will avoid the temptation to drive over ploughed fields as directed by the sat nav! We were welcomed upon arrival and given a guided tour of the facilities.

The Villa:
The accommodation is very clean, well maintained and as impressive as the photos suggest and was very comfortable for our party of six. The villa is fitted-out to a very high standard and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need including a dishwasher and washing machine. The lounge is very comfortable with plenty of seating.

There is a covered outdoor eating area which we used every day and at night the fantastic pool can be illuminated - the plot is a good size with plenty of space and there is parking for two vehicles.

The Location:
The villa is in the countryside and this was a major factor in our choosing it - away from the crowds and there are some lovely walks to be enjoyed down the tracks and through the extensive woodland. The beach and all the local facilities are a short drive away however including the well stocked Super Sol supermarket.

The area:
This was our first visit to the western part of Andalucia having previously holidayed around Malaga and Marbella. The contrast is amazing, and very pleasing - no large developments, no crowded beaches. You may have to work a little harder when eating out as many of the restaurants do not have multi-lingual menus but we found this added to the enjoyment of the holiday!

Places to visit:
We would certainly recommend Vejer, Medina Sidonia and Cadiz although we did find the latter quite expensive for eating out - a simple lunch costing over ten pounds sterling per head!

Summary:
We had a great holiday, the weather was fantastic and we would recommend this villa without hesitation.

Just returned from a fantastic 10 day holiday! The villa was perfect and exactly as shown in the pictures. It was comfortable, homely and had all mod cons (it was great to be able to get my washing done so that I didn't have a pile to do when I got home!) The garden area was fantastic for relaxing and I spent many hours reading by the pool whilst my boyfriend splashed around!
The villa is very close to the urbanization area of Roche, which has a lovely stretch of beach to stroll along. There is a wonderful seafood restaurant at Roche, which has tables overlooking the sea and I would definitely recommend visiting there at sunset for a romantic meal :)
It is essential to hire a car if you are staying at this villa as there is very little public transport, however the roads and motorways in the area are easy to navigate and there are some very scenic views to be had.
There are many interesting towns to visit within a 20 minute to 2 hour drive away and we particularly enjoyed Vejer, Medina Sidonia, Cadiz and Gibraltar.
The main point to note is that the area is very typically Spanish and you must take a phrase book with you if you don't speak the language, as this will help when reading signs and menus.
All in all it was a brilliant holiday and I would recommend the villa to anyone from couples wanting a romantic getaway to families with children wanting plenty of outdoor space to run around. Susan was a pleasure to deal with and kept in touch by phone and email before we went, providing us with lots of helpful information and suggestions of how to make the best of our holiday. I would not hesitate to book again and would definitely recommend the villa to my friends and family.
