Traditional stone village centre house self catering sleeping up to 6 people (2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom)and shower/WC downstairs with large 1st floor kitchen/lounge/dining room leading out to 2 roof terraces with superb views of the village centre and the surrounding countryside - especially with a glass of wine !. 5 minutes walk from the village square with tavernas, pizzeria, and cafienon. Other shops including a bakery also within minutes walking distance. Greek and UK neighbours are all very friendly and willing to help. The regional capital Sitia is just 5 minutes drive away and the main road by the village leads to the south coast (Libyan Sea). There are also nearby roads leading into the hills which are well worth exploring with traditional villages - a way of life which has not changed much in the last 50 years or so. In July-August there is the 'Kornaria' cultural festival in and ariound Sitia consisting of theatrical dance and concert events and other festivals.

Sitia the regional capital is just 3 km down the road with a fine sandy beach, a splendid market every Tuesday, a fishing harbour with many restaurants and delicious cake shops. Sitia City Airport is a 55 minute flight from Athens and there is an overnight ferry from Pireaus. Also there is the internationally renowned excellent Sitia Olive Oil and Wine and the Venetian Fortress and Folklore Museum. There is the Toplou Monastery and also Minoan Palace Ruins at Kato Zakros together with the famous palm fringed beach at Vai (the only one in Europe) near Palekastro. The north coast road is well worth the effort for the views and villages and there is also the south coast (LIbyan sea) 45 minutes drive away with some magnificent beaches notably at Makrigalios (very good for small children !). Irepetra, the southernmost city of Europe is just an hour's drive away and also worth a visit. Off the beaten track there are villages in the hills which are also worth seeing.

Deposit of 1/3 total rent to be paid on confirmation with final payment no later than 28 days before start of rental period with entire rental payment payable if booking within 28 days of commencement. If any deposit or final payment cheque bounces booking is canceled and applicant notified. Bookings made 14 -7 days before commencement or between 1 January 2010 -31 March 2010, 1 November 2010 -31 March 2011 price negotiable. These prices include Air Conditioning/ Heating,weekly change of linen and a Free Welcome pack on arrival.
  • Guests to be liable for all breakages, losses damage to property or contents and any injury to themselves howsoever caused - Law of Greece applies.

Notes: The property is suitable for adults and children aged 5 years and over as no cots are provided. In view of the steps to the first floor it is considered unsuitable for elderly or infirm and wheelchair access is impossible Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels. We have a housekeeper who comes in once a week to change linen etc. when guests are staying. The kitchen is well equipped with cutlery, toaster, electric kettle and travel iron.
