Discover France and Loire Valley Castles from our gite located in the charming village of Blou, 12 km away from Saumur in Maine-et-Loire and at the heart of the Natural Regional Park Loire Anjou Touraine, of which Loire is rated as a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
Olivier and Celia welcome you at 'Le Bonheur est dans le pré' estate (' happiness is in the meadow') in a character home fully built in Tuffeau stone, in the heart of 4 ha of natural meadow. It will be our pleasure to share with you our passion for France, cultural sites of Val de Loire, French gastronomy and wines.
The estate is located in a quiet area in the countryside of Saumur, and only 2 km away from the shops, supermarkets and restaurants of the city of Longué-Jumelles!
You will be able to enjoy the estate's activities:
- Well-being area with sauna and Jacuzzi (Spa) to laze in a heated water of 38° (starting from November 2012).
- Swimming pool (starting from spring 2013).
- Bakeries’ delivery upon request. The baker can deliver bread, croissants and further pastries starting from 7:30 a.m., every morning in a 'bread-box' placed at the entrance of the gite (you go for your delivery when you want and you pay the baker directly at the end of your stay).
- Breakfast-baskets with marmalades, home-made yoghurt and cakes, fruits, fruit juice, coffee, tea, milk, chocolate (out of school holidays periods)...
- Lunch-baskets (out of school holidays periods)
- VIP welcoming with a bottle and flutes of champagne upon arrival.
- Bath linen rental (including a large and a smaller towel).
- Walks in the meadows of the domain...
- Hammock on the terrace of your gite.
You will stay at the 'Le Bonheur est dans le pré' estate, in the semi-detached gite named 'la Chambre au Pré' which is found completely at street level.
You will have an equipped kitchen (induction cooker, oven, microwave, small refrigerator...), a living room with a flat screen television, two cosy bedrooms and a shower room with shower, toilets and double bowl sink at your disposal.
Outdoors you will enjoy a large terrace with arbour and hammock, and a garden with view of the meadow.
The decoration of the place, in a 'chic countryside' style, is a picture of authenticity.
The gite enjoys a surprising natural and cultural setting. It is the ideal place to discover the famous Loire Valley Castles, to cycle along the Loire, royal river, to visit the troglodyte sites and the cultural sites such as the Fontevraud Abbey, the vineyards of Saumur, Bourgueil and Layon, the Cadre Noir, the French National Horse Riding School in Saumur, Angers and its famous tapestry of apocalypse, the botanical park Terra Botanica, (leading region for botanica in Europe), the Zen park of Maulévrier, Doué la Fontaine zoo and rose garden, the Puy du Fou park or the Futuroscope...

- Kitchen
South oriented, the kitchen directly opens on the terrace and the garden. It is fully fitted with induction cooker, large electric oven, micro wave, coffee machine, toaster and all necessary to your stay (oven dishes, tart and cake tins, salad spinner, saucepans and stoves, cutlery and peeler, tea and coffee cups and plates, water and wine glasses) . The crockery is in a 'family home' style. The table is laid in front of a large white dresser made-to-measure with the interior shutters of a house of Anjou, a decoration with lots of charm...
- Sitting room
Place of conviviality, it opens on the living area and the large Nottingham couch, a touch baroque, will surprise you by its softness. A little relaxing moment with readings over Anjou and the flat screen television.
- Parental bedroom
The glazing in a 'loft studio' style lets enter a gentle light. The ecru curtains and the pleated quilt give a romantic tone to the bedroom. The bed of 160 cm is high quality to guarantee you blissful nights.
- Further bedroom
Two single beds are waiting for children of friends. The colours are in ecru tones, and cream and linen give an atmosphere of softness, for relaxing holidays in Anjou.
- Shower room
In white and blue tones, it has a large double bowl sink unit, a shower and a toilet.
- Garden
The terrace is shaded by a beautiful tree and the garden furniture will allow you to spend great evenings. The garden opens directly on the meadow.

Markets
On Saturdays, we suggest you the market of Saumur, on St Peter's, La Bilange and Republic squares, a big and lively market, under big trees.
On Mondays takes place the market of Rosiers sur Loire, and it is very close to the gite (10km), it is small but you can find good local produce and cheeses there. We can also recommend you one of the pork butcher's of the village to savour the famous 'Rillauds' of Anjou and delicious 'rillettes'. If you are looking for a larger market, you will find what you're looking for on Mondays in Doué la Fontaine (20km). On Wednesday we recommend the Beaufort-en-Vallée one, where there is an excellent fishmonger.
