Our holiday rental farmhouse is located near to the main town of Gourdon and Souillac on the river Dordogne. Gourdon is a very old and beautiful town with all the facilities you could need on holiday. There are numerous supermarkets, excellent restaurants, a cinema, hospital, banks, post office and weekly market. It is centrally positioned to offer easy access to all the attractions in the area for example; Sarlat la Caneda, La Roque Gageac, Domme, Cahors and Rocamadour which is probably the most famous of all. See 'further details' page for more information La Roque-Gageac has steep cobbled streets that wind uphill past coloured stone houses perched on ledges in the cliffs overlooking the river Dordogne. Sarlat la Caneda is a medieval town with properties with towers, turrets and narrow alleyways.

Additional information on Reilhaguet : The village of Reilhaguet was at one time a fort with semaphore signal station, part of a number of forts built to send signals from the harbour at Bordeaux to Paris. The fort has long gone but the old church remains. In the grounds you will still see the old village stocks. The well is located in the village square and is used by the villagers to draw water for their gardens and pot plants during the long hot summer. The view from the village View Point is described as the most impressive in the Lot.

Had a fantastic two weeks here in September. Crowds had dispersed but the weather was still fantastic. Super quality stone farmhouse just as described. The views of the Lot valley from just outside the village were amazing. Worth paying to heat the pool at this time of the year though!
The village is withing striking distance or at least 8 Michelin starred reataurants which we took full advantage of!!

A perfect holiday hideaway....

Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Thankyou so much for a wonderful holiday. Your property was perfect for party of 8. We found Maison Fargues was full of character and a great base to explore the region. We especially loved the pool and the little extra we paid for its heating was money well spent. The house is just right for two families to holiday together ( even though our group was effectivley 3 families) There is lots of space inside and out also being on the edge of the village the countryside is literaly only steps away. We were surprised how close some of the major attractions like Rocamador were to the house and with easy access to Cahors, Sarlat and Beynac we had a great time. This is a very peaceful area and is France at its best. The house was excellent value for money, we look forward to our next visit. One tip for visitors......ask the caretaker, Dave, where to find good restauants, bars etc he came up with a couple of crackers for us.....Richard, Juliet,Hannah, Phil,Colin,Bev, Sam and Dan.

A Great Relaxing Holiday

Stu1982 Northern Ireland
Review Submitted: July 17, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We have just returned from the Maison Fargues and just wanted to let everyone know how much we enjoyed our stay.
The drive from Toulouse was hassle free, the roads are modern with very little traffic, journey time to the village of Reilhaguet was approx 1hr 30mins. Upon arrival we were met by Dave the caretaker, he was very friendly and showed us around. Dave said he was on hand to make our holiday easy, any questions, problems, just pick up the phone and he could help. This was brilliant to have this peace of mind, definately a service not offered by most places. The house is set in a sleepy village called Reilhaguet, its great for families or groups alike, very spacious and decorated in a traditional but modern French style.
The main living room/summer kitchen is great, it has a bar and a fridge behind there to stock all the cold beers! The large dining table can easily sit the largest of families however we found it better to eat outside most nights as the weather was so good. Another big table outside overlooking the pool, great for bbq's.
The grounds are very well set out and maintained, there is total privacy all the time even though there are a few houses located on the same road. Trees shade some of the drive which is good to park the car under.
The pool area is great, half wooden decking half stone.
This is great place to have breakfast and watch the sun come up in the morning, even take an early morning dip if your feeling brave! The pool does warm up though after the sun has been on it a few hours, trust me!
Le Vigan is about 10 mins by car and the larger town of Goudon is about 15 mins. You'll easily get settled in and find driving into town a breeze. There is a great restaurant we found in Le Vigan called 'Scuderia' great pizzas and very reasonibly priced too.
Gourdon has more to offer in the way of restaurants and bars, really pleasent little town and very clean. There is a big supermarket called 'Intermarche', it stocks absolutely everything, in our opinion this was the best place to get all the supplies.
On a evening we wined away the nights in Cafe Divan, you can't miss this one, right in the middle of the town, some evenings had entertainment into the small hours.
We had a superb holiday here and I'm sure you will do the same, perfect for a relaxing break with the added bonus of having your own pool, definately a better option than a package holiday. More sophisticated in everyway and in my opionion way better value for money.

Maison Fargues, everything you could wish for.

Review Submitted: June 16, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
What a place, love at first site, everything was just as described and more the accommodation was super the wet room was ideal after the dip in the crystal clear pool and the main bedroom was to die for. A perfect tranquil escape from the normal mad existence. I even enjoyed the kitchen, however the bar and barbeque got a little more use. Would I go again, all I can say is is it for sale ? We loved it.
