West Falmouth House Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths plus outdoor shower, Sleeps 10

Charming 1940 renovated Cape one mile from Chapoquoit Beach and 1.5 miles from Old Silver Beach. High ceilings, exposed wood beams, spacious kitchen, master bedroom with vaulted ceiling and en-suite bath, wood-burning fireplace, enclosed backyard. Quick walk to historic country store, cafe, gourmet ice-cream shop and bike path. Quick bike ride or 20-minute walk to Chapoquoit Beach along the bike path and lovely West Falmouth harbor. Our block is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and our front door is featured on the 'Doors of Cape Cod' poster!

Located in West Falmouth Village, the house is a half-block walk to the West Falmouth Market, a 100-year-old country store (great deli, White's bakery, produce from a local farm, made-to-order pizza & sandwiches, wine shop), the Village Cafe (breakfast and lunch, organic coffee and smoothies), Eulinda's gourmet ice-cream shop with indoor and outdoor seating (summer only), a hair salon, day spa, and a 19th-Century church on the National Register of Historic Places. Two blocks to the Shining Sea bike path and harbor. (Easy bike rides to the villages of Falmouth and Woods Hole!) The historic West Falmouth Library is a 10-minute walk down the road. Two-minute drive to the Chapoquoit Grill restaurant, known for great brick-oven pizza.

Chapoquoit and Old Silver beaches are known for great swimming (warm, clear water and gentle waves), white sand and sunsets. Lifeguards and resident-only parking. Parking stickers are required in July and August through Labor Day. Renters may buy a weekly parking sticker, good at all Falmouth beaches, for $60.

A 10-minute drive to Main Street, Falmouth Village. A 15-minute drive to Woods Hole for the Martha's Vineyard ferry and seaside restaurants. The parking lot for Martha's Vineyard ferry shuttles is just five minutes down the road! Five-minute drive to horseback riding.

Parents Magazine recently named Falmouth one of the 10 best beach towns for families in the U.S. (#4)! Falmouth is the only Preserve America Community, designated by the White House, on Cape Cod.

The first floor: living room, large kitchen, family room with window a/c, bedroom (two twins) and a full bath. Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors in the living room, family room and first-floor bedroom. The living room includes a wood-burning brick fireplace and a dining table for six. The kitchen features a porcelain-tile floor, breakfast nook with picture window, and a laundry closet. The family room includes two Ethan Allen sofas, cable TV, DVD player.

Baby gate at top of stairs; optional baby gate at bottom of stairs.

The kitchen door leads to an outdoor deck with gas grill (June 2012), large outdoor Pottery Barn wooden dining table with umbrella, hot-water outdoor shower and a fenced-in backyard (100% fenced) lined with rosebushes. Extensive woods beyond the fence keep the backyard private. Custom-built shed for bikes & beach gear.

The second floor includes four bedrooms and a full bath, which adjoins the master bedroom. The large master bedroom has a 15-foot vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a king bed and an antique dressing table. The second-floor bedroom layouts include:

1. King bed, adjoining full bath

2. Queen bed, balcony

3. Queen and twin bed, window air-conditioner

4. Full bed

The layout of the house is ideal for mingling, with the large kitchen in the middle and the living and family rooms on each side. French doors between the living room and kitchen can be left open or closed. Our house has been very popular with wedding groups, including three brides!

Amazing historic home in great location

  • 5 of 5

Can't wait to return to Falmouth and stay in this spacious, well-equipped house. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful. The house had tons of room for our family to spread out and is stocked with DVDs, games, and toys. Convenient to the bike trails and a delicious brunch place across the street. There is even a market a few paces away.

Falmouth itself was an adorable town and we recommend Pie in the Sky in Woods Hole. If you venture to Martha's Vineyard, we found that Chris at Harbor Taxi gives a knowledgable and interesting tour of the island.

Best rental in Falmouth

  • 5 of 5

My family rented this house in July 2014. From the first inquiry to the return of the security deposit after we left Linda was the absolute best to deal with. Anything we needed she responded to and took care of immediately. Truly a joy to deal with.

The house is easy to find and centrally located to all the best Falmouth beaches which we used every day of our vaca. there is lots of room indoors and out to hang out, grill and just enjoy the "Cape Life". we brought our 4 children and many family members come visit us during our stay and we never felt cramped. We really loved being able to walk

100 yards down the street to the market and ice cream place. The little breakfast place was my wife and I's early morning escape for a quiet cup of coffee yet still be able to see the house. This is my new go to rental on Cape Cod! No need to look any further. Don't forget to catch a Falmouth Comodores game! Great baseball at a great price.

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in West Falmouth and fell in love with the house and the neighborhood. The house was the perfect size and layout for our multi-generational family. The little ones were thrilled with the playroom and toys, and were safe in the fenced-in back yard. The adults were even more thrilled with the proximity to the West Falmouth Market, and the Village Cafe and Eulinda's Ice Cream right down the street. We loved the bike path and nightly walks to view the sunset at the Dock Street harbor. Beach days were easy at either Chappy or Old Silver Beach (if you have little ones, go to the far left beach) with the $60 per week beach pass purchased from the Surf Beach office. This location was perfect for all of our activities, and the owners extremely nice and responsive.

Rustic Charm and A Great Location...

  • 5 of 5

West Falmouth is our favorite place to stay when we arrive at our home away from home, Cape Cod. And having a home located close to Chappy and down the street from the West Falmouth Market is a HUGE plus. But trying to find a nice home that's affordable to a family of six can be very difficult. We were very pleased with the rustic charm of this home. The outdoor shower was great for the little ones after the beach (mom and dad enjoyed it as well). The fenced in yards, both front and back are also a HUGE plus if you have small children. The owners were great and very easy to work with. We are looking at the calendar now to plan our next stay this coming summer 2014! Thanks Linda!

Exactly as advertised, an excellent rental for families.

You simply can't ask for better than this on the Cape. I grew up in Falmouth and I vacation there yearly, so I know the Cape and the houses there; I don't believe you can find a better rental anywhere on the Cape, even if you pay more. We're a family of six, so when we vacation space is essential. This place has plenty. The description given in VRBO is precisely what you will find. The house is attractive, well suited for entertaining, and very well-kept. The beds are sturdy and comfortable. The furniture is in good condition and is solid. The location is excellent: only a few miles out of downtown Falmouth (the best town on the Cape by far), not far from Bourne Bridge and close to Old Silver, which is an excellent beach. The neighborhood is a half-hip, half-rustic area, with a great gourmet deli and grocery (with beautiful new terrace seating) not 2 minutes walk from your front door. We used it extensively. The kitchen is well equipped, and you can cook anything there that you can at home. The outdoor grill is excellent. There are good large pots for steaming lobster and shellfish. The owners are easy to work with and responsive; no worries, no problems, no unanswered communications. I will not consider renting anywhere else on the Cape, and will probably contact Linda soon to reserve for next year. Take it from a local boy: this house IS your best option, particularly if you have kids. And if you're new to the area, let me give you a handful of tips that will make your stay as fun as it can be:

1. Get a Beach Pass. It's easy.

2. Visit the Cape Code Cafe in Brockton MA. Nothing like it in the whole world. Order the linquica pizza. Ask for it crispy.

3. Buy your raw seafood at Shaw's.

4. Dine at the Captain Kidd in Woods Hole. The Clam Chowder is incredible. Take the Whoosh Trolley or see #12.

5. Spend a day in Provincetown.

6. Eat at Betsy's on Martha's Vineyard. Get to the ferry in the early morning. EARLY. The Island Home is the better of the two ships.

7. Take the Viking for a canal cruise out of Buzzard's Bay

8. Drive the 28 all the way from Falmouth to Provincetown

9. Eat breakfast or lunch at Pie in the Sky in Woods Hole as often as you can.

10. Spend a day in Plymouth,MA. Eat at any of the waterfront restaurants there.

11. Visit Plimoth Plantation.

12. Rent a bike and use the Bike Path. Kids love it. The best part of the ride is Falmouth to Woods Hole. No need to park a car, and you can have a few drinks.

Great cape house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here! The house was wonderful! Clean and had everything we needed, including tons of toys for our kids. It's in a perfect location across from an ice cream shop, cafe, and down the street from the market. We loved the bike trail just down the street. The owner was very professional and very accessible.
