Photos and Description of the Kambia vacation villa rental Rural location, yet only 5 mins from beach, villages and good tavernas

Our lovely villa is set on the hillside above Kambia village and provides the ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday. It is set in an acre of ground including an olive grove, a newly planted orchard and beautiful gardens of flowering shrubs. There is a private pool (8.5m x 4.5m), with large terraces and adjoining grassy area and two pergolas. There are open and covered terraces on all sides of the villa, offering sun or shade throughout the day. Inside, the bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor (cooler at night) whilst the open plan lounge, kitchen with dining area and second bathroom are on the first floor, taking full advantage of the stunning panoramic views over Souda Bay to the Akrotiri peninsula and over the valley of olive groves to the White mountains. Sunsets are dramatic from the large upstairs balcony. The villa has modern facilities, with local Cretan touches, is well equipped and offers very comfortable accommodation. Maid service is twice a week.

Nearest Airport: Chania at 22 Miles
Nearest Ferry: Souda with daily ferries to Athens at 10 Miles
Nearest Beach: beach at 3.0 Miles
Car: recommended
Kambia House sits on a peaceful hillside above the hamlet of Kambia. Plaka, the nearest village (about 3 mins by car) has three very good tavernas, kafenions, a village shop selling freshly baked bread and a small mini market. The seaside resort of Almerida (5 mins by car) has plenty of tavernas, shops and a shallow, clean beach. Kalives (10 mins by car) has two good beaches, lots more tavernas and shops, and a large INCA supermarket where you can get just about anything you need. Within easy driving distance is the old Venetian city of Chania(30mins): here you can wander through the old town, have a drink or meal whilst overlooking the Venetian harbour & visit the interesting museums. It is also easy to reach the ancient site of Aptera, the many lovely mountain villages, walk stunning gorges (like the famous Samaria Gorge) or travel a little further to the Minoan sites of Knossos or Phaistos. If you want to go further afield boat trips to Santorini can be booked in the main season.

Notes: The house is cleaned and laundry changed twice a week, but please bring your own beach towels. Yvonne, who lives further up the hill does the cleaning. Ray, who is also our house manager, cleans the pool twice a week and does the garden. There are 8 sunbeds around the pool area which has two pergolas which provide shade. There is also a Weber barbecue. Tourist information, bird and wild flower books, plus binoculars are available in the villa for guests to use. There is also a selection of books and DVDs.

Well, what can we say after spending a blissful week at this property. The positioning of this house allows you to have sun or shade at any time of the day, with spectacular views over the white mountains or Souda Bay.
The lovely village of Plaka is only a short walk away with a supermarket and and a number of Tavernas offering high quality food.
the location of this property allows you to stay close to the villa and enjoy the peace and quiet or to travel the short distance to the coast and enjoy the atmosphere of Kalives and Almyrida. For those wanting to enjoy some of the history of Ancient Crete a visist to Aptera is only a short distance away.

We have just returned to England 25th August after spending 2 weeks at Kambia House.

The pictures and website do not do it justice , it is a lovely place to spend your holiday . You can either just stop in by the pool or venture out to many places within easy reach either by car or walking .

The village of Plaka is lovely and has some very nice tavernas .

As we have a son who wanted to see some of the local historic sites we would recommend a visit to Haptera and the German War tunnels and both are free entry .

Most of all the peace and quite was bliss and stunning views.

It is a home from home place to stay , well equipped , very clean and the services from both Ray and Yvonne are second to none.

Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful two weeks at your lovely villa enjoying the spectacular views. The villa is extremely comfortable and everything you could possibly need is provided. The villa is beautifully kept and is immaculate both inside and out thanks to the hard work of Yvonne and Ray. The villa is secluded yet close to the village of Plaka where you can find good restaurants and a handy supermarket and also to the beaches at Almyrida and Kalives. We spent our holiday having lazy days by, and in, the pool together with local sightseeing trips and visits to the beach. The location of the villa couldn't be bettered, the friendliness and hard work of Yvonne and Ray couldn't be faulted and must rate as one of the best holidays we have had.

It also proves to future guests that our description of the property is accurate! We always enjoy our time there and also feel it is a very special place.

Kambia House ou "la maison bleue", est située dans un endroit calme qui surplombe la baie de Souda. Des différentes terrasses la vue est magnifique : montagne, mer, campagne le tout accompagné des cigales, du ciel bleu, bleu, bleu.

La maison vous accueille "comme à la maison", chacun trouve son coin rapidement ou se retrouve sur la large terrasse du soir pour regarder le coucher de soleil avant d'aller dîner; la maison est bien agencée et tout ce dont on a besoin est déjà là...

La piscine est un rêve, toujours propre, profonde jusqu'à 2 m, l'eau y est si bonne qu'on y plonge directement.

Bref cette maison vous accueille dans un environnement de quiétude, le plus difficile est de la quitter pour aller visiter les environs.
Conduire en Crète n'est pas de tout repos... mais après 8 jours, presque plus rien ne vous étonne.
N'hésitez pas à sortir des chemins battus, à lire l'abondante documentation qui est proposée à la maison, il y a de jolies pépites à découvrir.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Kambia House. We can thoroughly recommend it for home from home comfort and breathaking views. The house is spacious, well furnished and extremely well maintained with an excellent twice weekly cleaning and pool service provided. The pool itself is superb, in fact we hardly left its side for 2 weeks! We can thoroughly recommend this property for both couples and families looking for a relaxing stay in fabulous surroundings.
