Los Arcos is the self-contained, spacious, south-facing garden apartment in the owner's villa. The private, solar-heated pool, huge garden and the barbecue area are just for the use of guests. The villa is in a quiet, residential area of La Nucia but just a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and bars, including the well-known Supermercado La Nucia and Nuevo Alcazar restaurant.

Around and about: La Nucia is centrally placed in the Marina Baixa district characterized by ‘mountains rising up from the sea’. Just a ten minute drive takes you to the sea and beautiful beaches of the Costa Blanca. Heading inland takes you into spectacular mountain touring routes of the Sierra Aitana with picturesque small towns and villages and well known tourist destinations such as Guadalest.

There are markets in the area every day of the week, ranging from the massive market in Benidorm with its fantastic range of fruit, vegetables, flowers, plants, fashion, leather goods, textiles, shoes, toys... to the popular Sunday rastro market in La Nucia. Terra Mitica and Terra Natura theme parks are just a few minutes drive as well as Aqualandia water park and Mundomar. And golf? Real de Faula Golf course just 5 minutes drive away.

Cultural events: There is plenty going on. La Nucia has an impressive concert hall and outside auditorium which hosts a staggering range of performances from opera, jazz, flamenco and zarzuela to classical, folk, theater, ballet, rock ...an endless list. Alfaz and Altea have their own concert halls. Art galleries can be found in just about every town.

Town celebrations and fiestas around patron saints dates and other significant dates are a well known feature of the region as are the annual celebrations of the 'Moors and Christians' festivals, the two best known being in Alcoy and Vilajoyosa.

Golf, cycling, walking and other activities: Away from the beaches there's also plenty to do and see. La Nucia has a huge sports centre which includes swimming pools, a gym, tennis and padel courtsThe nearest golf club, Real de Faula, is a few minutes drive away. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus and has two 18-hole courses. Levante Course is full length par 72 championship course, while the Poniente course is par 62 executive course. Set in pine valley with sea and mountain views. Cycling is very popular in the area, and there are plenty of walking and trekking routes through the mountains, scenic tours, places of interest, historical sites, horse riding, rock climbing and lots of other possibilities.

Lazing by your private pool or by the sea...... heading into the mountains.... getting some exercise.... enjoying some relaxation.... whatever... you'll find Los Arcos perfectly comfortable and perfectly located!

Fantastic holiday villa

We stayed at this lovely villa for 4 weeks and didn't want to leave. There is everything you could need fantastic bbq area, great pool, warm friendly hosts and comfortable villa. The weather was perfect and there's plenty to do and see in the area. Our children came and spent a week with us and they had a great time as well. We would recommend staying here in fact this is our second visit.

Perfect getaway

The flat is simple but perfect for a week away with friends. The location is ideal for getting into Benidorm and visiting the market, but also the supermarket just down the road was great for getting a daily coffee and fresh bread for lunch. Phil and Caroline are great hosts who had great advice for where to eat out in the area and what was good to see. I would highly recommend this apartment for rental, but would also recommend hiring a car so you can travel around the coast easily.

Holiday perfection on the Costa Blanca

We (granddad, grandma, son, daughter in-law and two grandchildren) have stayed at Los Arcos for three consecutive years (2011-13) because it is a fantastic place for all ages to relax, play and above all enjoy. The apartment is welcoming, spacious, extremely clean and well fitted-out. It is surrounded by a safe, tranquil garden full of colourful flowers and interesting shrubs and trees that supply shaded spaces. The figs are delicious too! The pool area is superb, maintained to a high standard and benefits from all day sun. The garden and pool provide a quiet haven after returning from a day at the beach or exploring the local area, towns and villages. The BBQ area has to be seen to be believed; an ideal place to spend a balmy evening socialising with family and friends. Nearby supermarkets and local markets supply quality produce and wines to be sampled and enjoyed. Eating out is no problem, with a good variety of restaurants close by serving quality food at affordable prices.

Phil and Caroline, the owners, are always available to answer guest's questions, but they never intrude. Their description and photographs of the property. are a true reflection of what guests will experience. We found our time at Los Arcos memorable and we recommend it for a great family holiday as well as a wonderful place to relax.

A fantastic holiday or retreat for peace and quiet

My partner and I stayed for a fortnight at Los Arcos and found it a wonderful place to relax. The apartment is spatious, clean and extremely well out-fitted making it a splendid home away from home. The tropical garden is a gorgeous place to spend time in sun or shade, surrounded by colourful flowers, palm trees and even fresh lemons and a great bbq. We enjoyed the peace and quiet after days out exploring the beaches, seaside towns and the beautiful nearby mountain villages. Situated near the sea, but also in close proximity to several larger towns, you can equally relax on the beach or attend a concert or dance performance closeby.

The owners, Phil and Caroline, offer a wealth of knowledge of the area, and the wider Costa Blanca and seem to go out of their way to respond to any question or special need a guest might have. We have travelled far and wide throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America and found our stay at Los Arcos amongst the most pleasant of the many places we have visited.

As academics, we are always on the lookout for places where we can relax and write. Aside from thinking of Los Arcos for a future holiday, we may well return to use it as a retreat for work. There is a supermarket within walking distance and the apartment is equipped inside and out with electric connections, making it easy to plug in a laptop.

I would equally recommend it as a great holiday spot or a wonderful retreat for quiet work.

About 45 minutes drive from Alicante airport and just 5km from the coast. Los Arcos is in a quiet, residential area, but just a few minutes walk from the main road with a large international supermarket (Super La Nucia), bars, restaurants, banks, pharmacy, hairdressers.

Beaches of the Costa Blanca - Benidorm, Finestrat, Altea and Albir - all 10 to 15 minutes drive away. Heading away from the sea takes you into the spectacular and surprising mountain touring routes.
