In Banaston, a pretty hamlet near historic Ainsa town in Aragon Pyrenees

The rustic stone self catering properties called 'Casa Quinno' consist of: The 'Chicken Coop' - a small former shepherd's cottage next to the resident owner's house with downstairs living, dining, kitchen & bathroom areas & bedroom (with 1 double & 1 single bed) reached by a steep staircase; A small 'Flat' - on the ground floor of the owner's house with 2 bedrooms (1 double & 1 bunk bed), living/kitchen/dining room & a bathroom.Both are ideal for 2 persons but the maximum occupancy is 3 for the 'Coop' & 4 for the 'Flat' & it is possible to rent a small bedroom at the rear of house if needed. Guests love to unwind in the large, fantastic green garden under old olive, fig & nut trees. There are patios for guests with tables, chairs, loungers & parasols. Although there are no bars/restaurants in the hamlet guests meet & enjoy complimentary drinks & tapas around the owner's large patio table. There is free parking near the property.

Activities: Apart from walking & birdwatching there are lots of more adventurous activities which can be enjoyed. These include cycling, horse riding, quad rides, canyoning & 4x4 trips & can be booked locally.

There is a public swimming pool in Ainsa which is open in July/August.

The 'Chicken Coop' is a former barn which the owners have converted into a rustic small self contained cottage. It is next to the resident owner's house. It is made from the typical golden stone of the Aragon area & has wooden beams. The ground floor consists of a shower room/toilet, kitchen, dining & sitting areas. A steep staircase leads to the bedroom which has a double & a single bed. An outside stone staircase also leads to the bedroom. The front door opens onto a patio where guests can dine at the table.

The self catering properties are nestled in the pretty hamlet of Banaston with it's ancient church & are only 2km from Ainsa town where the Ara & Cinca rivers join to fill the huge Mediano lake. It's only 37 km to France via the Bielsa Tunnel. Located in the ancient Sobrabe area Ainsa claims to have the oldest medieval square in the world & has many bars, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, tourist office, & weekly outdoor market selling fruit & veg. It is an ideal base to explore the wonders of the Spanish Pyrenees. Nearby- dramatic walks & lots of other fun activities in Ordesa National Park. Overlooked by Monte Perdido, is the magnificent Ordesa Canyon, with the specatacular 'horses tail' waterfall. Walk in Anisclo,Pineta,Tella & Gistau valleys. See rare birds like griffon & egyptian vultures & the lammergeier, other wildlife such as chamois,marmots,wild boar, & lots of butterflies & wild flowers. Explore remote villages, some deserted, with Romanesque chrches & steeped in tradition.

Wonderful place in an excellent location as a base to explore the area. The accommodation is charming in a rustic sort of way, the owners are delightful, friendly people who are always ready to help but also give you the space to enjoy your holiday. One of the best holidays I've had in my life.

A wonder few days in the mountains

Situated just outside of Ainsa, this lovely country cottage is located in one of the most beautiful and interesting geologic areas in the world. There are so many places to explore by foot and car that a mere week is not nearly enough - you will definitely wish to return.

The accomodations are beautiful, well-kept and very clean. The gardens are a treat to walk through or picnic in one the sitting areas and enjoy viewing the garden and wildlife. The owners/hosts live on site and are friendly and helpful in making your visit outstanding.

Romantic Gem of a Place

The accommodation was rustic and romantic and the hosts are friendly, helpful people. The Chicken Coop is just outside of Ainsa and is central for exploring the magnificent Pyrenees. We are booking to go again next year as there is so much to see.

The Chicken Coop is a charming apartment perfectly comfortable for the summer and decorated with simplicity and good rustic taste. It is surrounded by a magnificent english garden with a mediterranean touch. Hammocks, swings and garden chairs are scattered around in little corners surrounded by vegetation).
The hosts make sure that the stay is as pleasant as they can make it, giving all the information about the places they love, but always allowing you total privacy.
Definitely one of the best places for a summer vacation in the Pyrenees.
