Cheap Flights:
The budget airline Ryanair fly to Granada from Stansted and Liverpool and they often have 1p flights!
There are also many budget operators flying into Malaga - Easyjet, Ryanair, BMIBaby, Flybe etc. Malaga is an easy 2 hours drive on excellent road systems. Budget flights direct to Granada now also operating from Paris, France and Hann in Germany on operators such as Vueling. Some budget operators also fly to Almeria (about 2 and half hours drive).
Sierra Nevada ski resort:
The apartment is ideally placed for skiing at Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada. The Sierra Nevada boasts the highest downhill runs in Europe as well as being the most southerly - so it often enjoys better snow than the Alps. The resort - with its superb services and installations was built for the Winter Olympics and offers its visitors a wide range of facilities and a ski terrain to suit skiers & boarders of all standards. There are 70km of ski runs, 45 pistes and 300 snow machines guaranteeing snow on the slopes. There is also night skiing by floodlight! As one of Europe's highest resorts it has a surprisingly long season and traditionally opens at the end of November running through to the end of April or even into the first week of May. The resort is so far south that the climate is superb for brushing up on your tan and on clear days there are views of Africa from the top!
Ski:
Skiing is available at the Sierra Nevada ski resort. At over 9000 ft it is one of the highest resorts in Europe and can be reached from Guejar Sierra within 20 mins. An international ski school is available on site. There are 70km of ski runs, 45 pistes (with more than enough variety to suit all levels), 300 snow machines and views of Africa from the top.
This is the most southerly ski resort in Europe and, while smaller than some of the other major European resorts, the facilities are considered top rate and it has therefore hosted numerous national and international ski events. Wtth great family facilities on offer as well, Sierra Nevada defies many concepts associated with skiing. Located at barely a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean coast, it has practically guaranteed sunshine, the best spring snow conditions in Europe and is still reasonably priced compared to many of its European counterparts.
Golf:
There are now three golf courses in Granada and more within reasonable driving distance such as the one at Motril on the Costa Tropical 9 holes). The 18 hole Granada Club de Golf is signposted from Armilla. No reservations necessary. Clubs can be hired and if you play in the morning, the cost for 18 holes is approximately 20 euros (more on Sundays and festivals).
